Chapter 191 - Daily Life II

SF Chapter 191: Daily Life II

Amanda looked at Dani. "So, are you going to tell us about this wife?"

"Lindsay didn't want to tell me," she pouted.

"Nope." Dani shook his head. "Just watch Conan this Thursday. I'm already picturing how awesome it's going to be!"

"Okay..." Hilary chimed in, "Can I try the song?"

Dani agreed, already gesturing for her to stand near Prudence at the piano. "Of course."

He handed her a sheet of paper. "Here are the lyrics."

Hilary got into position, while her sister had already grabbed a camera to record everything.

She sang The Climb more or less the way Dani had, only adding more emphasis and emotion to certain parts.

When she finished, Prudence applauded. "Oh! That's perfect for Beer Girl! Well-behaved, goody-good girl!"

Hilary made a face. "Why does everyone keep saying that like it's an insult?! It's great to be a good girl!"

"I meant it as a compliment!" Prudence corrected her.

"Yeah, I didn't..."

"Dani!" Hilary called out, making everyone chuckle.

Haylie asked while still filming, "Why do you call my sister Beer Girl?" She was curious about the odd nickname, since Hilary wasn't exactly the drinking type.

"Because of The Simpsons. Duff Beer," Dani replied. "Which makes you Mature Beer Girl!"

Both blondes didn't think too much about the nickname.

"Oh, that also makes me realize," he added. "Your name is similar to my niece's. Haylie Duff and Haley Dunphy."

"Yours is just grammatically incorrect," Dani pointed out.

"Just ignore him," Amanda remarked. "He's only saying that because she's his niece."

Dani then realized something else. "Who's everyone, Hilary? Besides me and Prudence."

Her sister stopped filming and commented, since it wasn't exactly a secret. "Hilary and Avril Lavigne had a few disagreements..."

"I said something I shouldn't have said," Hilary sighed.

"I said she should respect her fans more. And then she called me a mommy's girl and goody-goody."

"I don't care. I am a good girl," Hilary declared, although it was clear she wasn't exactly happy with the singer's comment.

"Ha, mommy's girl. How didn't I think of something like that?" Dani chuckled.

Hilary hissed, "Dani!"

"Fine. Sorry. Just Beer Girl," he apologized.

Then he raised an eyebrow. "Avril Lavigne is that pretty chick who dresses like a punk, right? Sk8er Boi and Complicated..."

"That's her," Prudence confirmed.

"Oh, well..." Dani nodded thoughtfully. "Hilary might be a mommy's girl, but we all know who has mommy issues!"

Prudence burst out laughing, while the other three tried to control themselves.

"Dani, that's not a nice thing to say," Amanda scolded him. "Stereotyping punks as having mommy issues..."

"Yet you're trying really hard not to laugh, Mandy." He narrowed his eyes at her.

Then he made a face as if he'd just had a brilliant idea. He grabbed the stuffed bear sitting on top of the piano, which belonged to Prudence.

Dani picked up the teddy bear and tried his hand at ventriloquism. "Hello, my name is..."

"Ted," Prudence helped.

"Right." He made the stuffed bear nod. "Prudence... Ted. Good names are a family tradition," he joked.

Prudence mockingly bit his shoulder.

But Dani continued using the bear. "You're right, Amanda. Dani was wrong. We can't generalize and say that punks have mommy issues."

"Because most of them have daddy issues! Grandpa issues... that's rarer!"

The three girls tried their best not to laugh. Prudence made no effort.

"I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I love them... unlike some of their parents!" Ted made another inappropriate remark.

"I'm joking again. I love Green Day... Blink-182, I even bought their new single, which came out today!" Ted said.

Blink-182 had released their single I Miss You that day, March 1st.

"...I just don't think Avril is your typical punk."

Dani made Ted point a paw at Hilary. "Hilary, you should reply to her: 'We totally should be friends, Avril. You're exactly what I imagine a punk from Disney would be like!'"

The four of them laughed, though Hilary looked a little conflicted, since he was kind of insulting her too with the Disney comment.

"A punk girl raised on milk and cereal," he added.

"Okay, that's enough," Hilary stopped him. "I don't want to fight with her. And please, don't try to 'defend' me, Dani. You're only going to make yourself some enemies."

Dani made Ted turn to look at him. "She's right, Dani. You don't want punks as enemies. Let showers keep that job."

"Dani!"

"Ted said it, not me," Dani defended himself.

"Whoa, I can see it now. You could easily be a Mean Girl," Amanda mocked. She was laughing despite finding his jokes inappropriate.

Dani then 'justified' himself. "This is all for an idea I just had - putting this kind of humor into a toy."

"Ted - the teddy bear who comes to life, like Pinocchio or Toy Story. But mine would be cooler! He'd grow up with his human friend!"

"He'd drink, smoke, gamble, party, have a dark sense of humor, and hook up with girls," Dani said, envisioning his idea.

"There's something really messed up in your head, Dani," Hilary said, staring at him in disbelief.

Dani ignored her. "But I've got too much going on right now, so I'll put the idea on hold."

Haylie asked her sister, "I'm really confused about how he can make Mean Girls, Superbad, The Climb... and then do this... Ted thing..." She pointed at Dani, highlighting what felt like a complete contradiction.

"Wait until you watch the horror movie," Amanda smirked.

"Oh, yes, thank you for reminding me, Mandy," he said. "So, what do you think about The Climb, Hilary? And ready to watch a horror movie?"

"I really love the song!" Hilary beamed. "I want to sing it. As for Paranormal Activity, we can watch it now."

They all went to watch the movie. For Dani and Amanda, it was their second time seeing it.

That night, Dani was lying in bed between Prudence and Lexi. Mischa had gone back to her own place.

Unlike Lexi, Mischa normally only stayed over on weekends and occasionally one or two days during the week.

She liked having her own space, and she was also very close to her parents - often going to their house or having them come over to hers.

"You should've seen it, Lexi," Dani smirked. "Hilary and her sister's reactions were superb. Pretty funny. We can watch it later!"

"Even Prudence got startled during the movie. Especially at the end!"

Prudence pouted. "Dani made something explode right at the very end."

She went on, "After that, we spent the evening singing and talking with Mandy."

"And you, Lexi?" Dani asked.

"Nothing much." Lexi told them about something funny that had happened at the studio. "Oh, and my friend Leighton is officially dating Adam."

"Who would've thought Lexi would be a Cupid?" Prudence joked.

"Oh, yeah," Dani exclaimed. "Besides the Camaro, some 35mm prints of the movies arrived too: Big Fish, Cold Mountain, and House of Sand and Fog."

Lexi immediately got up and pulled the two of them toward the mini theater.
