Kendrick walked into Walker Tower at two forty-five.
The forty-second floor had a quality today that it had carried in the first board session — the particular stillness of a room that knew something was being decided and was holding that knowledge in the air. His assistant gave him a look as he passed. Daniel fell into step beside him for thirty seconds and said, in a compressed update, that the two board members with family connections to the Reeves documentation had both confirmed attendance and that Marcus had also confirmed, which was not part of the original session notice.
"He added himself," Daniel said.
"I know," Kendrick said.
"Do you want—"
"Leave it," Kendrick said. "He's allowed."
He went into the boardroom.
