Amara couldn't stop staring at the man in front of her. Her heart raced, but she tried to stay calm.
He placed the briefcase on the table and looked at her seriously. "We need to talk about last night," he said.
Amara took a deep breath. "I don't even know who you are," she whispered.
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he studied her face. Finally, he said, "I'm your ex's brother. You already met me last night at the bar."
Amara froze. Her mind spun.
"You… you're him?" she stammered.
He nodded. "Yes. And there's something you need to know. This isn't just a coincidence."
Amara's stomach turned.
He continued, "Last night was unexpected. But we can't ignore the fact that your life is now connected to mine in ways you don't yet understand."
Amara's mind raced. "Connected? What do you mean?"
He sighed. "There's more to this than you realize. And you're going to find out sooner than you think."
Amara sank into her chair. The room felt smaller, heavier. Her morning, which had started normally, was now filled with secrets, tension, and questions she couldn't answer.
