Chapter 1 - Ch 1- Carlisle Eltheran

On the streets of the Royal Capital of Lugunica, sunlight spilled across the roads, reflecting a warm and gentle glow.

Along both sides of the street, shops stood in neat rows, their hanging signs swaying softly in the breeze and giving off faint creaking sounds.

The air was filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread, the fragrance drifting from the flower market, and the scent of charcoal rising from the distant blacksmith's shop.

Pedestrians came and went as the shouts of vendors and the laughter of children intertwined, forming a lively urban symphony.

A young man wearing the white uniform of the Knights Order walked slowly through the crowd. His figure was tall and upright like a pine tree, and the epaulets on his shoulders glinted brightly under the sunlight.

The knight possessed finely sculpted features and a heroic air between his brows. His nose bridge was high, and his handsome face was difficult to look away from, as if every line had been carefully carved by a master craftsman. His appearance carried both the steadfast resolve of a warrior and the elegant bearing of a nobleman.

However, what drew the most attention was not merely his appearance.

His short sky blue hair shimmered faintly in the sunlight, and his eyes were even more unforgettable. They were a pair of clear sapphire like pupils, deep and bright, as if they could reflect the deepest emotions within a person's heart.

His gaze swept across the surroundings, quietly taking in the prosperity and tranquility of the city.

An artist on the street corner was playing a lively tune, drawing passersby to stop and listen. Vendors enthusiastically promoted their goods to customers, their faces filled with bright smiles. Nearby, a mother and daughter walked hand in hand while carefully selecting fabrics, their eyes full of happiness.

Warmth rose in his heart, and his footsteps unconsciously slowed. For a moment, he truly wanted to stop and quietly enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the city.

But when his fingertips brushed against the cold hilt of the sword at his waist, he immediately came back to his senses.

He had a mission.

There was no time to linger.

The young man sighed softly, withdrawing his gaze as he prepared to quicken his pace. At that moment, however, he was interrupted by a warm greeting.

"Good morning, Sir Carlisle!"

A fruit vendor waved enthusiastically at him, the apples in his hands gleaming invitingly beneath the sunlight.

"Sir Carlisle, it's such a beautiful day today!"

The owner of the nearby barbecue stall wiped his hands on his apron, his face full of smiles as the skewers over the charcoal grill sizzled and released a mouth watering aroma.

"Sir Carlisle, would you like to try some freshly baked bread?"

The bakery owner lifted the curtain of the shop, and a warm wave of fragrant bread instantly drifted out, attracting the attention of passing pedestrians.

People on the street gradually slowed their steps and cast respectful glances toward him.

Several children gathered around him excitedly, their eyes filled with admiration. Yet they did not dare approach too closely. Instead, they timidly called out from a distance.

"Sir Carlisle!"

Carlisle paused for a moment before revealing a gentle smile.

He nodded toward everyone as he greeted them. His voice was calm and steady.

"Good morning, everyone. May your businesses prosper, and may your day be peaceful and smooth."

The young man was Carlisle Eltheran, a member of the Knights Order of Lugunica.

However, he possessed another identity.

He was a transmigrator from Earth, someone who came from another world.

One day, he had gone out simply to pick up a special effects toy he purchased online. In the blink of an eye, he found himself reincarnated into this world.

It was rather strange.

How exactly had he died?

In his memories, there were no large trucks speeding toward him. In fact, everything had happened so suddenly that he simply found himself reborn as a baby in this unfamiliar world.

The memories of his previous life felt like a distant dream.

In that dream, he had lived alone without attachments. If there was any regret left behind, it was probably that he would never again be able to watch those thrilling special effects shows.

The heroic figures, the passionate battles, and those inspiring lines of dialogue had once been some of the few bright moments in his otherwise ordinary life.

Now, even that faint light had disappeared along with his transmigration, turning into a past that could never be reached again.

What was even more frustrating was that even after arriving in this new world, he was still an orphan.

He had no parents and no family to rely on.

Fortunately, fate had not completely forgotten about him.

When Carlisle was still very young, he unexpectedly displayed astonishing talent in the orphanage classroom. He showed a natural affinity for both swordsmanship and magic.

After practicing only a few times, his sword techniques became sharp and precise, as though they had been refined through countless battles.

His magical talent was even more terrifying.

He possessed an affinity for all six elemental attributes of magic, granting him the ability to learn and master any type of magic.

The director of the orphanage personally witnessed all of this.

Not long afterward, the director made a decision.

He sent Carlisle to the Knights Order of the Kingdom of Lugunica to receive training as a prospective knight.

For Carlisle, this was undoubtedly an opportunity to change his destiny.

He still remembered the day clearly.

Standing upon the vast training grounds of the Knights Order, an indescribable sense of excitement and anticipation surged through his heart.

At that moment, it felt as if the dreams from his previous life were shining brightly before his eyes.

Countless times he had imagined becoming someone who could fight for justice and belief, just like the heroes from those special effects shows.

Now, that dream finally seemed within reach.

He clenched his fists tightly, silently making a vow within his heart.

No matter how difficult the road ahead might become, he would become a true hero who could protect this land and the people who needed help.

From that day onward, Carlisle began his life as a knight.

Day after day he trained relentlessly, practicing swordsmanship and magic with even greater dedication than the others.

He understood that this was the second chance fate had given him.

He would never allow it to slip through his fingers.

Now, he had already lived in this world for nineteen years.

He had trustworthy friends, a firm belief he refused to abandon, and a mission that had recently been entrusted to him.

At present, the Kingdom of Lugunica was a nation without a king.

The previous ruler had died for unknown reasons.

Because of this, only the five Dragon Priestesses acknowledged by the Divine Dragon were qualified to carry the dragon insignia and participate in the Royal Selection.

Carlisle's mission was to become the Guardian Knight of the fourth Dragon Priestess.

Lady Emilia.

It was somewhat unusual that he had been assigned as the guardian knight of a Dragon Priestess.

The reason behind this arrangement was a deal made between the kingdom's strongest mage, Roswaal L. Mathers, and the Council of Sages.

Roswaal L. Mathers was rumored to possess unfathomable magical power and was considered almost invincible in terms of strength.

After discovering the fourth Dragon Priestess, he proposed an unexpected condition to the Council of Sages as his reward.

His request was very specific.

He wanted Carlisle to become Emilia's Guardian Knight.

This request surprised everyone, including Carlisle himself.

He believed that he was nothing more than an ordinary knight. Although he possessed exceptional talent, he was not particularly outstanding when compared to the renowned powerhouses of the kingdom.

However, Roswaal seemed to regard him very highly.

Today was originally supposed to be the day Carlisle would meet Emilia for the first time and formally pledge his loyalty as her Guardian Knight.

However, unexpected news suddenly arrived.

Emilia was missing.

After arriving in the Royal Capital, the Dragon Priestess had somehow become separated from Roswaal's people.

When Carlisle heard this information, he felt both helpless and deeply worried.

Although the Royal Capital appeared prosperous and lively on the surface, it also concealed countless unseen dangers.

Furthermore, Emilia's identity was extremely special.

If someone with ill intentions were to target her, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Carlisle's current mission was simple.

He had to find Lady Emilia somewhere within the Royal Capital.
