Chapter 6 - The Real Mother

Flashback

Her face lit as she read her name on the list.

Eliza Reynolds.

"Yes" She said in delight.

Her heart filled with disbelief and joy at the same time.

She smiled while looking at the necklace.

"I don't know if we will meet again but if we meet, I will be presentable to your family. " she whispered like her man is listening to her. Like he is always with her.

"Don't dare to forget me, I will pull your soul out of your body if you do"

She smiled like she won the whole world.

She tried her best to act normal but her eyes betrayed her.

"Eliza " ma'am Rachel called from behind. She immediately hid her necklace, putting the pentant under her top and turned to her, smiling wildly.

Her expression is too much enough to say that she is over the moon.

Ms Rachel laughed at her expression. She stroked her hair.

"You made it, dear " she said, her voice carrying the pride and love.

Eliza nodded fast and pressed her palms together in gratitude as tears welled up in her eyes.

"Thankyou ma'am" she said.

Ms Rachel caught her hands and smiled at her.

"It's your hardwork dear. You should be in a very great position when we meet again" She told Eliza.

Present

Eliza's POV

My one hand clutched the edge of the bed and the other covered my mouth. My cries melting into sobs and faint panting. Tears streamed down my cheeks.

I wiped them breathing slowly, hoping I can control myself from crying.

My energy dropping every second from hunger, thirst and crying.

My eyes caught the bottle of water under my bed. I looked at it like god just gave me another life.

I quickly grabbed the bottle.

I drank the water which was only enough for one sip.

My head felt relieved a little just enough to let me stand properly.

I rose from the floor, my cheeks still damp.

I inhaled to make myself look normal.

After two hours.

"No, Dave. That's not happening!" Madam Mae's voice tore through the room.

The porcelain plate slipped from her trembling fingers and crashed against the marble floor. The sharp crack of ceramic shattering echoed across the hall, fragments skidding across the tiles.

My breath caught at the sound.

Sir, Dave slammed his both hands on the table as he got up.

"You can't always decide everything for me." He said, his voice calm but sharp enough to make her glare at him.

He didn't flinch.

"I am your mother and I can decide." Her tone was sharp. Her chest rising and falling as anger consumed her.

"No. " she paused

"I will decide and you are going to obey." She continued.

He narrowed his eyes and chuckled at her words.

"My mother? Seriously?" He asked looking at her with a kind of disgust.

Her smile faltered.

She rose from the couch. I stood behind the couch, sensing a shift in the air as she walked closer to him.

She stiffened, her jaw tight.

"Then? Who is your mother? " she asked him. His fist clenched at his sides, looking straight in her eyes keeping his calm.

"Her?" She slowly lifted her hand and pointed toward a framed photograph resting on the shelf among the decorative pieces.

Dave didn't follow her hand. "Yes" he said with a nod but somehow his voice broke.

"Then... Where is she? Did she fed you? Did she took care of you? She left you the day you born" She said.

My throat tightened, tears forming in my eyes as I heard those words.

Why?

"Don't think you can get away with it." He said. His voice masking the ache in his chest.

"I will find out... The reality" He said and walked back to his room.

She didn't move from where she stood.
