The girl's words hung in the air like a curse.

"…It found you."

Noah's eyes remained fixed on the distant skyline.

At first, all he saw were the tall buildings of the ruined city.

Then something moved.

A massive shadow slid between the skyscrapers.

Too big.

Far too big.

Noah's stomach twisted.

"What… is that?" he asked quietly.

The girl didn't answer right away.

Her face had gone pale.

Her entire body trembled.

Finally she whispered, "Something we shouldn't be near."

The ground trembled again.

BOOM.

Even from this distance, Noah could feel the vibration beneath his shoes.

Dust drifted from the rooftops.

Car alarms somewhere in the city suddenly started going off, their desperate wails echoing through the empty streets.

Noah swallowed.

"That thing is coming here?"

The girl grabbed his arm suddenly.

"Not here," she said quickly.

"You."

Noah's heart skipped a beat.

"Me?"

Her grip tightened.

"You need to move. Now."

Another deep roar echoed through the city.

This time it was louder.

Closer.

The sound rolled across the buildings like thunder.

Noah felt it vibrate through his chest.

"Okay," he said quickly. "Running sounds like a good idea."

They both turned and sprinted out of the alley.

The streets were still filled with abandoned cars and scattered debris.

Glass crunched under their shoes.

"Which way?" Noah asked.

"This way!" the girl shouted.

She led him down another street, weaving between parked vehicles.

As they ran, Noah glanced behind them.

His breath caught.

The distant creature was becoming clearer.

It towered above the buildings.

At least five stories tall.

Its body looked vaguely humanoid but grotesquely distorted. Long arms dragged across the ground as it moved, leaving deep cracks in the asphalt.

Its skin was dark and rough, like volcanic rock.

And its eyes—

Even from miles away—

He could see them glowing.

Burning red in the darkness.

Noah quickly looked forward again.

"Yeah," he muttered breathlessly. "That thing definitely shouldn't see us."

The girl suddenly slowed and ducked behind an overturned bus.

Noah followed her, crouching low.

Both of them struggled to catch their breath.

For a moment neither spoke.

Then Noah finally asked the question burning in his mind.

"Who are you?"

The girl glanced at him.

Her expression softened slightly.

"…Mira."

"Noah," he replied.

"I know," she said quietly.

Noah blinked.

"You… know?"

Mira nodded slowly.

"I saw you earlier."

"When those monsters surrounded you."

His stomach tightened again.

"You saw everything?"

Her face darkened.

"They weren't attacking you."

"No."

"They were kneeling."

Noah remained silent.

Mira looked away toward the street.

"Monsters don't kneel," she whispered.

"Not unless something stronger forces them to."

Noah rubbed his temples.

"This is insane."

"Everything about today is insane," Mira replied.

For a moment, silence returned.

Then Noah asked the question that had been haunting him.

"What did you mean earlier?"

Mira hesitated.

"You said they only kneel to one thing."

She slowly looked back at him.

Her eyes were filled with fear.

"…The King."

Noah stared at her.

"You think I'm some kind of monster king?"

"I didn't say that," Mira replied quickly.

"But those creatures did."

Noah ran a hand through his hair.

"This doesn't make sense. I'm just a normal guy."

"Normal people don't make monsters bow," she said.

Before Noah could argue—

A deafening crash shook the street.

Both of them jumped.

The enormous creature in the distance had reached the outer part of the city.

A skyscraper collapsed as it pushed past it.

Concrete crumbled like sand beneath its massive arms.

The creature let out another roar.

This one felt… different.

Like a signal.

Like a call.

Noah's stomach dropped.

Something responded.

Growls echoed across the city.

From rooftops.

From alleyways.

From the dark windows of abandoned buildings.

Monsters.

Dozens of them.

No.

Hundreds.

They began emerging into the streets.

Some crawled along walls.

Others leapt from rooftop to rooftop.

Their glowing eyes turned toward the giant creature.

Mira's breathing quickened.

"It's calling them…"

Noah watched as the monsters gathered.

But something strange happened.

Many of them suddenly stopped.

Their heads turned.

Not toward the giant creature.

Toward him.

Noah felt a chill crawl up his spine.

"Why are they looking at me…?"

One of the creatures slowly stepped forward.

Then another.

Then another.

Mira grabbed Noah's arm again.

"Don't move."

The monsters approached cautiously.

But they weren't aggressive.

They weren't growling.

They looked… hesitant.

Like soldiers unsure which command to follow.

Noah's heart pounded violently.

The giant creature roared again in the distance.

The monsters flinched.

But they didn't run.

Instead…

Several of them slowly knelt.

Mira's grip tightened.

"Oh no…"

More creatures followed.

Kneeling one after another.

The street began filling with monsters bowing their heads.

But something else happened.

The giant creature suddenly stopped moving.

Even from miles away, Noah could feel its gaze.

Locked on him.

The massive head slowly lifted.

Its glowing eyes burned brighter.

Then it let out a roar so powerful it shattered windows across the city.

Mira covered her ears.

"What did you do?!"

"I didn't do anything!" Noah shouted back.

But deep down…

He felt something strange.

Something inside his chest.

A warmth.

Like a pulse.

The monsters around him lowered their heads even further.

One of them whispered in a broken voice—

"…King…"

Noah's breath caught.

In the distance…

The colossal creature began moving again.

This time much faster.

Buildings shattered as it charged forward.

Straight toward them.

Mira's voice shook as she whispered—

"Noah…"

He didn't answer.

He couldn't.

Because for the first time since the world changed…

He felt something inside him responding.

Like a forgotten instinct waking up.

And it scared him more than the monsters.

The ground shook violently.

The giant creature was almost there now.

And its glowing eyes were locked only on him.

Mira grabbed his arm again.

Her voice trembled.

"We need to run."

But Noah couldn't look away.

Because the massive creature had finally reached the street ahead.

It stopped.

Towering above the buildings.

Its enormous shadow swallowed the entire road.

For a moment the world went silent.

Then the monster slowly bent one massive knee.

And bowed its head.

Before the last human on Earth.
