Chapter 18 - The Ones who watch Time

The train station was still in chaos.

People were shouting. Station staff rushed toward the broken light. Some passengers were filming the accident with their phones.

But Lena barely noticed any of it.

Her eyes were locked on the message on her screen.

"Now they know you can change the future."

Daniel stood beside her, still trying to understand what had just happened.

"You pushed me out of the way before the light fell," he said slowly. "How did you know?"

Lena hesitated.

There was no easy way to explain this.

"My future self warned me," she said quietly.

Daniel blinked.

"…Your future self?"

Before he could ask more questions, Lena's phone vibrated again.

DING.

Another message from her own number.

She opened it quickly.

"You changed two deaths now."

Another message appeared.

"That was never supposed to happen."

Lena's chest tightened.

Lena:

Who are "they"?

For a few seconds, there was no reply.

Then the answer came.

"The ones who watch time."

Daniel leaned closer to read the screen.

"The ones who… watch time?" he repeated.

Another message appeared.

"Their job is to keep the timeline unchanged."

Lena's heart began racing again.

Lena:

So they're going to stop me?

The reply came almost instantly.

"Yes."

Daniel swallowed nervously.

"This is starting to sound like a nightmare."

Another message appeared.

"You weren't supposed to survive the bridge."

A second message followed.

"Daniel wasn't supposed to survive the station."

Lena felt the weight of those words.

If she hadn't changed things…

Two people would already be dead.

Her phone vibrated again.

"Now the timeline is broken."

Another message appeared slowly.

"And they will try to fix it."

Daniel frowned.

"How exactly do they 'fix' it?"

Lena stared at the screen.

The next message answered his question.

"By making sure the original deaths still happen."

Daniel's face went pale.

"You mean… they're going to try to kill us?"

Lena's phone vibrated again.

The message confirmed it.

"Yes."

Silence filled the space between them.

The noise of the station faded into the background.

Daniel finally spoke.

"So… who are these people?"

The next message appeared slowly.

"You'll see them soon."

Lena's heartbeat grew faster.

Lena:

When?

The final message appeared.

"They're already here."

A cold feeling ran down Lena's spine.

Slowly…

She lifted her head.

Across the crowded station platform—

Three people stood perfectly still.

They weren't helping the injured passengers.

They weren't panicking like everyone else.

They were just watching.

Watching Lena.

And Daniel.

One of them slowly raised a phone.

And Lena's phone vibrated at the exact same moment.

DING.

A new message appeared.

But this time…

It wasn't from her future self.

It was from them.

The message read:

"You have interfered with the timeline."

Lena's heart pounded as the next message appeared.

"Correction will begin now."
