Chapter 1 - The Second Call

Story Title: The Last Call

It was almost midnight. Most people in the city were already asleep. The streets were quiet, and occasionally the distant barking of dogs broke the silence. Outside the window, the branches of a tree moved slowly with the wind.

Rahat was sitting alone in his small room. After a long day of work, he was relaxing and watching videos on his phone. The room light was off. Only the dim glow from his phone lit up his face.

Suddenly his phone started ringing.

Unknown Number

Rahat frowned and stared at the screen. Who would call at this hour?

At first, he ignored it. Maybe it was a wrong number.

But a few seconds later, the phone rang again.

The same number.

This time Rahat answered the call.

"Hello?"

No response.

Only a faint sound… like wind blowing somewhere far away.

Rahat spoke again,

"Hello? Who is this?"

A few seconds of silence.

Then a very low voice whispered—

"Are you… alone right now?"

Rahat felt slightly uncomfortable.

"Yes… but who are you?"

No answer.

The call ended.

Rahat stared at his phone for a moment and then went back to watching videos.

Five minutes later, the phone rang again.

Unknown Number

Now he felt a strange uneasiness.

Still, he answered.

"Hello?"

This time the voice was clearer.

"Did you lock your door?"

Rahat's heart skipped a beat.

He slowly asked,

"Who are you?"

A quiet laugh came from the other side.

Then the call ended.

Feeling uneasy, Rahat got up and checked the door.

Yes.

It was locked.

He returned to his bed and tried to ignore it.

Just then, a message appeared on his phone.

From the same number.

The message said—

"Check it properly."

A cold chill ran through Rahat's body.

He opened the door and looked outside.

The corridor was empty.

No one.

He locked the door again and went back inside.

Just as he sat down, the phone rang again.

This time his hands were shaking.

He answered slowly.

"Hello…?"

The voice calmly asked—

"Did you lock the door now?"

Rahat said angrily,

"Yes! Who are you? Why are you doing this?"

A few seconds of silence.

Then the voice said—

"Because… I'm not outside the door."

Rahat froze.

Slowly he looked around the room.

Everything was silent.

Then suddenly he heard a soft sound from the wardrobe behind him.

Knock…

Rahat stopped breathing.

The phone was still against his ear.

The voice whispered—

"Did you hear that?"

The wardrobe door slowly moved.

Something inside was pushing it.

Knock… Knock…

Rahat's hands were trembling.

He slowly started walking toward the wardrobe.

His heart was beating loudly in his chest.

Just then the voice spoke again—

"Don't open it."

Rahat stopped.

Cold sweat ran down his forehead.

He whispered—

"Why?"

The voice replied very softly—

"Because… I'm still inside."

At that exact moment—

The wardrobe door slowly opened by itself.

Inside there was only darkness.

And from that darkness… two pale eyes slowly appeared.

The call suddenly ended.

Rahat's phone screen lit up one last time with a message—

"If you are reading this story… remember one thing.

If an Unknown Number calls you at night…

never answer the second call."

I'll stop the story here… 😶

What would you do if you were Rahat?

Would you open the wardrobe… or run out of the room?
