Ebhabe Fire Asha Jai – Part 15

(An Emotional Story)

The evening sky was slowly turning orange as the sun began to set behind the quiet town. Arnab stood near the riverbank, staring at the flowing water. The river had always been his place of peace, but today his heart felt heavier than ever.

It had been almost three months since Meghla left the city without telling him where she was going. The only thing she left behind was a short letter.

"Sometimes love needs distance to understand its true meaning."

Arnab had read those words a thousand times. But even today, he couldn't fully understand them.

Every day after work, Arnab came to the same riverbank. He hoped that maybe one day Meghla would suddenly appear there, smiling the way she used to.

But days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months.

Still, Meghla didn't come.

Arnab remembered the last day they met. Meghla looked different that day. Her eyes were full of tears, but she tried to smile.

"Arnab," she had said softly, "Do you believe that people who truly love each other always find their way back?"

Arnab had laughed lightly and replied, "Of course. Real love never gets lost."

Meghla didn't say anything after that. She just looked at him for a long time, as if trying to memorize his face forever.

Then the next day, she disappeared.

Arnab searched everywhere. He called her friends, visited places she loved, and even went to her old college.

But nobody knew where Meghla had gone.

At first Arnab was angry. He felt betrayed. How could Meghla leave him without saying goodbye?

But slowly his anger turned into pain… and then into silence.

The sound of the flowing river brought Arnab back to the present moment. He sighed and whispered to himself, "Meghla… why did you leave?"

Just then, he heard footsteps behind him.

Arnab didn't turn around immediately. Many people walked along the river in the evening.

But something about those footsteps felt familiar.

Slow… gentle… hesitant.

His heart suddenly began to beat faster.

He slowly turned around.

And then he froze.

Standing a few steps away was Meghla.

She looked thinner than before. Her long hair was tied loosely, and her eyes carried a quiet sadness. But it was her. The same Meghla Arnab had loved with all his heart.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The wind blew softly between them, carrying years of unspoken emotions.

Finally Arnab said quietly, "You came back…"

Meghla nodded slowly. Tears were already forming in her eyes.

"Yes… I came back."

Arnab walked a little closer but stopped halfway.

"Why did you leave without telling me?" he asked. His voice wasn't angry. It was tired… and broken.

Meghla looked down at the ground.

"Because I was afraid," she whispered.

"Afraid of what?" Arnab asked.

Meghla wiped her tears and looked at him.

"Afraid that one day you would leave me."

Arnab was shocked.

"What? Meghla, I would never—"

"I know," Meghla interrupted softly. "But sometimes fear doesn't listen to logic."

She took a deep breath.

"When my parents started pressuring me for marriage, everything became confusing. I didn't know how to fight them. I didn't know how to protect our love. I thought… maybe if I disappear, you will forget me and live a better life."

Arnab's eyes filled with pain.

"You thought leaving me would make my life better?"

Meghla nodded slowly.

"I thought love sometimes means letting go."

Arnab looked at the river again for a few seconds.

Then he turned back to Meghla and said softly, "You were wrong."

Meghla looked at him silently.

"Love doesn't mean running away," Arnab continued. "Love means staying… even when things are difficult."

Tears rolled down Meghla's cheeks.

"I realized that too late," she said.

She took a step forward.

"I tried to live without you, Arnab. I went far away to another city. I started a new job. I tried to forget everything."

She paused.

"But every morning I woke up with the same feeling… something important was missing."

Arnab's heart softened.

"And then?" he asked quietly.

Meghla smiled faintly through her tears.

"And then I remembered your words… 'Real love never gets lost.'"

The evening sky had now turned dark blue. The first stars were beginning to appear.

Meghla looked at Arnab with trembling eyes.

"So I came back… to see if our love could still find its way."

Arnab looked at her for a long moment.

All the pain, anger, and loneliness of the past three months slowly melted away.

He stepped forward and finally stood in front of her.

"You took a long time," he said gently.

Meghla lowered her head.

"I know… I'm sorry."

Arnab smiled softly.

Then he said something Meghla never expected.

"But sometimes," he said, "people need to get lost… to truly understand where they belong."

Meghla looked up with surprise.

Arnab extended his hand toward her.

"Welcome back, Meghla."

For the first time in months, Meghla smiled the way she used to.

She held his hand tightly, as if she never wanted to lose it again.

The river continued to flow quietly beside them, carrying away the past… and making space for a new beginning.

Because sometimes love doesn't end.

Sometimes…

Ebhabe Fire Asha Jai.

(This is how someone returns.)
