Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Going Live — Letting the Group Feel the Shock of Marvel Power

"Take this—Corpse-Slaying Overlord Fist!"

Roland threw a punch carrying enough force to pulverize stars, and it slammed straight into Zombie Sentry's chest. In an instant, Zombie Sentry's body arched backward and shot toward the sun like a kite with its string cut.

"It's time to end this!"

Baring his teeth, Roland fired yellow beams from his eyes and drove Zombie Sentry forward at even greater speed, straight toward the blazing yellow star.

His entire combo had been far too fast.

Zombie Sentry had no time to react at all. His head was still spinning when the sun was already rushing closer and closer.

Of course, a zombie was still a zombie. With no sense of pain, it could recover from attacks faster than most beings.

But Roland's super-speed thinking was even faster.

Before Zombie Sentry could recover from the attack, Roland judged that he already had full control of the situation. So, while Zombie Sentry continued hurtling toward the sun, Roland used his accelerated thought processes to open the chat group.

"Victory's already in my hands. I can tell Zombie Sentry is much weaker than I am. In that case, I might as well use this time to check out the chat group. Since it appeared together with the 'Weekly Refresh of Overpowered Hero Abilities' system, it can't possibly be useless."

"Surely I'm not supposed to be the group's final boss-tier backer, right?"

Roland was absolutely convinced that with a cheat this strong, the system attached to him could not possibly be some worthless bargain-bin setup. At minimum, it had to be top-tier.

And if the system was that powerful, then the chat group had to be impressive too.

Who knew? Maybe it was full of truly monstrous figures.

Ultraman King, Ben 10,000, and the like.

The more Roland thought about it, the more curious he became. He really wanted to see just what kind of gods and monsters were in this so-called chat group he had joined.

And it was pretty amazing in its own right—the group could actually keep up with the speed of Roland's accelerated thought processes. Clearly, it was no ordinary thing.

After opening the chat group, the first thing Roland saw were the messages from the other members greeting him. But instead of replying right away, he quickly familiarized himself with most of the group's functions.

Livestreaming, missions, points, dimensional travel, dungeons, a shop…

It was fully equipped, practically able to do anything.

Of all those features, the one Roland found most interesting was the livestream function.

As for the identities of the other members… they were not nearly as outrageous as he had imagined.

Well, except for one certain someone whose upper limit was incredibly high and lower limit equally low—Ben Tennyson.

As for Invincible, he could more or less count as a weakened Superman-type.

After giving the chat group a quick inspection, Roland finally sent his first message.

[Multiversal Variant]: Everyone, it's great to meet you. If any of you need help, feel free to come to me directly.

[Hero Time!]: Yo, you've got great energy, newbie. If you need anything, you can come to me too. Once you're in this group, we're all buddies. I'll have your back from now on.

[Multiversal Variant]: Uh, then thanks.

[Loves Taking Pictures]: Count me in too! If something comes up, you can call me as well. I'm pretty awesome too, you know!

[Multiversal Variant]: Thanks to you too. Everyone here is really enthusiastic.

Roland was a little speechless, but he still replied modestly.

To be honest, Ben Tennyson was one thing. But [Loves Taking Pictures] was March 7th, and the only thing about her that barely counted was the power of the moon slumbering inside her. Memory manipulation was still a pretty terrifying ability.

As for the others…

Judging by the avatar, [Princess of the Moon] should be Kaguya Houraisan from Gensokyo.

[Strongest Athlete] was probably Yuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen.

[Wants to See the Moon] was most likely Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

That seemed to be about it.

Some were weak, some were strong, but basically none of them were on Roland's level.

The power of Sentry was no ordinary thing.

After exchanging a few brief messages, Roland glanced at Zombie Sentry, who was still frozen in the posture of being sent flying backward, and suddenly came up with a good idea.

He was going to start a livestream.

Fighting Zombie Sentry—this was a huge spectacle.

If he showed it to the group in livestream form, it would absolutely leave them stunned and give them a little taste of Marvel's absurd power scale.

Now that he had obtained the invincible power of Sentry, was it really that unreasonable for Roland to indulge in just a tiny bit of vanity?

Anyone else in his place would probably have already turned into some Sentry-version of Homelander.

After making up his mind, Roland sent another message.

[Multiversal Variant]: Everyone, I want to test some of the chat group's functions. I just found a rather interesting one—cross-world livestreaming.

[Multiversal Variant]: I want to… start a stream.

The moment he said that, the group instantly erupted.

[Hero Time!]: Uh, wait, this chat group can livestream? Well, fair enough. We've all only been here a few days, so I guess none of us really explored the functions much.

[Hero Time!]: Multiversal Variant, are you sure you want to do that? None of us have tried it before. Who knows what might happen?

[Loves Taking Pictures]: Yeah, exactly. What if something goes wrong? And livestreaming… I've honestly never even thought about that.

[Invincible]: I'm not very good with internet stuff. Livestreaming and things like that… I probably wouldn't understand it anyway.

Roland knew Mark definitely was not lying.

The guy really was hopeless with the internet—one hundred percent pure sincerity.

[Multiversal Variant]: Then let me be the one to test the waters. But first, I should warn you all—what's on my side may be a little disturbing. Be careful when you watch.

[Hero Time!]: Relax, relax. What kind of big scene haven't I seen before? I've seen the universe more times than I can count.

[Invincible]: Same here.

[Loves Taking Pictures]: Hahaha, well, what a coincidence—we've all seen outer space before too.

[Multiversal Variant]: …That really is quite a coincidence.

After sending that final message, Roland started the livestream.

Then Roland's side of the scene appeared before the eyes of the group members. The stream showed Roland from a third-person perspective.

What filled the screen was naturally the vastness of outer space beyond Earth.

And the thing that drew everyone's attention most of all was the brilliantly glowing yellow sphere—

the sun.

To the group members, the overall viewing experience felt like watching a blockbuster movie. It was actually pretty great.

But for Roland himself, nothing in front of him changed except for the scrolling comments drifting across his vision.

Judging by everyone's reactions, the stream had opened successfully.

[Hero Time!]: Wait, that's outer space. You're flying in space? Is that Earth? Are you outside Earth right now? And is that… the sun?

[Hero Time!]: No way, Multiversal Variant, what are the odds? We were just talking about space.

[Hero Time!]: Okay, no matter what… I really want to say this is awesome, but you're way too close to that thing. This looks seriously bad. Isn't something going to happen?

[Hero Time!]: Also, what's that thing flying toward the sun? The black-and-red one is you, right? But that golden one kind of looks like you too, just in a different color—and also kind of like… a zombie? Ugh! That's disgusting.

As he walked home, Ben Tennyson took a sip of a new Slushie Supreme flavor he had just bought and stared at Roland and Zombie Sentry in the livestream.

Ben had faced countless crises before.

So, relatively speaking, he was still pretty calm.

It was just that seeing Zombie Sentry's ugly face had completely ruined his appetite for the slushie. But throwing it away felt wasteful, so for the moment he found himself oddly conflicted and decided to just set it aside until he got home.

At first, when Ben saw Roland, he was only a little worried. Floating around in outer space was definitely exaggerated, and it had indeed surprised him a little. But he had access to plenty of alien forms that could operate in space too.

It was just that…

none of them could get this close to the sun.

And not long after the stream began, Ben suddenly realized something.

This newcomer who had just joined the group…

seemed kind of terrifyingly strong.

As for the rest of the people in the chat group…

they were no calmer than Ben was.
