Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: A Raised Hand for the Void, a Waved Hand for Sentry

While the group members were still marveling at just how dangerous this world was, Zombie Captain Marvel had already charged ahead, baring her teeth and clawing wildly, determined to take a bite out of Roland and turn him.

[Loves Taking Pictures]: Ahhh! That ugly freak is charging at you! Move, Multiversal Variant, move! This is terrifying!

[Hero Time!]: Relax, relax. Multiversal Variant is obviously strong enough that he'll be fine. With his power, he could probably squash these things like bugs.

[Invincible]: That's what I think too.

Ben and Mark were both fairly confident in Roland.

More accurately, compared with the others in the group, the two of them had more in common with Roland—they were all superheroes, or at least came from worlds where superheroes or similar beings existed.

March 7th, on the other hand, was much more nervous. Honestly, just watching those zombie heroes eating people had already nearly made her sick. Right now she was covering her eyes with one hand and peeking at the livestream through the gaps between her fingers.

To her, this was basically no different from watching a horror movie.

Setting everything else aside, after watching this stream, March 7th was absolutely going to have nightmares tonight.

And yet, she still could not make herself stop watching.

She was simply too curious about how Roland was going to resolve this world's zombie apocalypse. Would he use brute force, or would he do things the way a standard zombie movie would and start researching some kind of serum or cure?

Compared with March 7th, Kaguya Houraisan was far calmer. She had seen this level of bloody carnage more times than she could count. That white-haired woman occasionally came to pick a fight, and as her sworn rival, Kaguya naturally had to face her. Every time, the battle left her covered in wounds.

The kinds of injuries they tore into each other would easily qualify as grotesque, extreme-content material on certain sites.

And even setting that aside, Kaguya Houraisan was an ancient relic who had lived for over a thousand years. She had seen plenty in her time. Back when she had first been exiled to Earth, it had been an era overflowing with man-eating youkai. Scenes like these were nothing new to her.

But compared with those flesh-eating monsters, Kaguya still found these infectious zombies—creatures capable of turning rational, ordinary people into man-eating monsters—to be even more horrifying and disgusting.

At the very least, youkai could not infect people.

They could not assimilate humanity that way.

[Princess of the Moon]: These things are even more deranged than the worst youkai of the darkest ages. I truly hope they never appear in Gensokyo. This place is merely a peaceful retirement home for a bunch of old people.

"Oh? Then you're lucky. These things can infect even beings that carry cosmic energy, so your world would probably be no exception either. But don't worry—these creatures will all vanish tonight."

While answering Kaguya's comment, Roland casually lifted a hand and caught Zombie Captain Marvel by the throat with perfect precision, holding her like a chick in his grasp. No matter how hard she struggled, she could not break free.

But the moment he finished speaking, Roland noticed something odd.

The comments were still scrolling past in front of him, but he had no mind to pay attention to them now.

The Zombie Captain Marvel in his hand...

"Hm? She really is absurdly weak."

Roland raised a brow in surprise and flexed his fingers slightly. The Zombie Captain Marvel he was holding felt as fragile as packed soil. With just the tiniest bit of force, he could crush her into a heap of mangled flesh and blood.

This was supposed to be a body second only to Zombie Sentry and Zombie Thanos in raw toughness.

Yet in Roland's hand, she might as well have been cotton or a leaf.

Was it because he was too strong, or because Zombie Captain Marvel was too weak?

"If that's all you've got, then go sit at the kids' table with the rest of them."

Finding it rather boring, Roland flicked his hand and casually tossed her down toward the street.

A deafening boom rang out.

Dust exploded into the air. In an instant, the street caved in into a massive crater over a hundred meters wide, while Zombie Captain Marvel herself was smashed several hundred meters deep into the ground.

Naturally, Roland had held back.

The power he now possessed was frighteningly immense. Fused Sentry ranked among the uppermost tiers of power in all of Marvel. If Roland had put even a little more force into that throw, he could have shattered the Earth with that one impact alone.

That was not the slightest exaggeration.

But he still was not done.

Roland simply lifted one hand again.

The Zombie Captain Marvel who had still been plummeting deeper underground abruptly crossed space itself in that instant, reappearing right in front of Roland, back in his grip like a lamb waiting for slaughter.

And yet, despite knowing how terrifyingly strong Roland was, the zombie hunger drove her to keep struggling. She flailed both hands, desperately trying to claw at him and leave a wound behind.

Roland did not dodge.

He simply allowed Zombie Captain Marvel to strike at him.

What exactly was he doing?

Everyone in the livestream felt their hearts leap into their throats. One second Roland had still been chatting with them calmly, explaining the situation as if nothing were wrong.

And the next second, he suddenly did this?

He was practically offering his neck to her.

Was Roland trying to turn himself into a zombie on purpose?

No.

That could not be it.

Roland could not possibly be that bored.

Whether it was the people in the chat group or Nick Fury aboard the helicarrier overhead, everyone was wondering what Roland intended to do.

And yet—

under everyone's tense stare, Zombie Captain Marvel's clawed hand stopped several dozen centimeters in front of Roland. No matter how hard she pushed, she could not get even a fraction closer.

It was as if...

something invisible were blocking her.

[Strongest Athlete]: It got stopped! Is that... Gojo-sensei's Limitless technique?

[Invincible]: Is it telekinesis, or gravity?

[Hero Time!]: My gut says it's some really weird and amazing power. I'm guessing telekinesis.

[Princess of the Moon]: No, I do not think such a power is that simple. This must be something far more special.

[Wants to See the Moon]: I'm starting to lose track of what's even happening anymore. This world is insane.

The viewers were all discussing it heatedly.

But Roland was still not finished.

He raised his other hand and pointed it toward the zombie heroes below.

In the next moment, their bodies were struck as though by an invisible hammer. With a heavy bang, they were flattened into dark silhouettes plastered against the ground, motionless.

This was a power belonging to the Void.

But unlike the movie version of the Void, which merely dragged people into another space, this was the real thing—transforming them into shadow-like matter, pinning them tightly against the earth itself.

The sight left the viewers in the livestream stunned once again.

[Strongest Athlete]: This... this looks kind of like Megumi's Ten Shadows Technique! They both look like shadow manipulation!

[Strongest Athlete]: I don't really know Multiversal Variant that well yet, but he feels ridiculously strong. He doesn't seem any weaker than Gojo-sensei at all!

In the dormitory at Jujutsu High, Yuji Itadori watched the techniques Roland was displaying in the livestream and felt that they all looked strangely familiar.

But Roland's powers were nowhere near comparable to the two people Yuji had just named.

The gap between them was like the gap between a mayfly and the universe.

Yes—

a mayfly and the universe.

Even using that comparison was already giving Gojo and the others too much credit.

In the end, it was simply Yuji Itadori's worldview limiting what he could imagine. In his understanding, concepts like planet-busting, star-destroying, wiping out a star system, single-universe entities, or multiversal beings did not even exist.

To him, someone blowing up a building—or at most a city block—was already overwhelmingly powerful.
