Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 — Gravity & Weight Training

Chapter 7 — Gravity & Weight Training

Hogwarts — Age of the Founders, Year 1, Late Autumn

The dungeon chamber had been transformed into a training arena. Runes glowed faintly along the stone floor, weaving patterns for gravity enhancement, while enchanted weights hovered around the edges, ready to be strapped to the basilisk's massive form.

The egg was gone—the creature had partially hatched in the last test. Its eyes, now fully open, glimmered with intelligence… and anger.

"Father… why… these binds… this weight… I… I am strong…"

"Strength alone is meaningless," I replied calmly in Parseltongue. "You must learn control, endurance, and patience. These weights teach you focus."

Salazar Slytherin watched from the shadows, a faint smile on his face.

"Few would dare test gravity runes on a newly hatched basilisk," he said. "Few would survive such arrogance. Yet… you have both the courage and the mind."

The First Gravity Trial

I carefully guided my child into the center of the arena. Weighted armor hovered near its shoulders and tail, shimmering with enchantments designed to increase gravity and resistance without harming the creature.

"Step carefully," I whispered. "Feel the weight… learn its rhythm… bend, don't break."

The basilisk lunged forward, massive tail swinging, muscles rippling against the invisible resistance. Every movement caused the runes to hum, adjusting gravity in real-time.

"Father… this… this… restrains me… I… hate it…"

"Yes," I said softly. "Hate it. Learn from it. Only when you respect the resistance will you truly control your strength."

Its fangs snapped at the air, tongue flicking, eyes blazing. Every hiss, every strike, was both fury and raw intelligence testing itself against limits.

Hogwarts Reacts

Word had spread quickly: a basilisk was being trained publicly. Students lined the balconies, some trembling, some fascinated:

Gryffindors: whispered nervously. "Isn't that… isn't that dangerous?"

Ravenclaws: furiously taking notes. "Gravity-enhanced muscles… rune interaction… fascinating."

Hufflepuffs: worried, yet intrigued. "I hope no one gets hurt…"

Slytherins: admiring. "See? Discipline and cunning. That is true mastery."

Even a few centaurs observing from the upper courtyard lowered their bows, watching the ritual with careful eyes.

Dialogue — Training Day

The basilisk struggled against a gravity rune anchored to its chest.

"Father… I… cannot… move… enough…"

"Patience," I replied. "Your body obeys only when your mind commands. Focus… feel the gravity… let it teach you strength without rage."

It hissed, spinning its tail and trying to strike the floating weights.

"I am… strong… I do not… need… this…"

"Strength without guidance is death. You will learn both… or we stop here."

Slowly, the basilisk began adjusting, bending its massive body to accommodate the invisible pull. Eyes narrowed, tongue flicking, muscles flexing against the invisible resistance. Its first controlled steps felt like a dance of power and intelligence.
