Chapter 5: Experimenting With and Training the Super Electromagnetic Cannon
Hatake Kakashi leaned against the railing on the rooftop and looked at the black-haired boy walking up in the distance, unable to stop herself from sighing inwardly.
As expected of me, I'm seriously handsome.
The pink-haired girl following behind Uchiha Sasuke should be Haruno Sakura.
And the little blond farther back was Uzumaki Naruto, whom she had met yesterday.
"So, are you really our Team 7 teacher?"
Just as Hatake Kakashi's gaze landed on Uzumaki Naruto, she saw him run over in a carefree rush.
When Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura heard Naruto's question, they both looked at her curiously as well.
"Well, more or less."
Hatake Kakashi lowered her eyes slightly, her tone casual.
This lousy system had actually made today's daily mission wear women's clothes again, which had left her struggling for a long time.
But there was no helping it. In the end, she still wore them.
After all, now that the plot had started, she would soon have to face powerful enemies one after another, like Zabuza, Orochimaru, and Uchiha Itachi.
So any increase in strength, even a little, was still an increase.
"Let's start with introductions. My name is Hatake Kakashi. My dream is to survive all the way to the end. My hobbies are reading and... never mind. What I dislike is... forget it. Next."
Hatake Kakashi gave her self-introduction in an absent-minded tone.
"Survive all the way to the end?"
All three of them looked at Kakashi strangely.
She liked reading? Looks like she had really read too many novels and manga.
"My name is Uzumaki Naruto. I like instant ramen, but what I like even more is Ichiraku Ramen when Iruka-sensei treats me... My dream is to surpass all the Hokage of the past..."
After snapping out of it, Uzumaki Naruto immediately started speaking excitedly.
"My name is Haruno Sakura. What I like is... I mean, the person I like is..."
Unlike Naruto's carefree attitude, Haruno Sakura kept glancing toward Uchiha Sasuke while speaking, her face slightly red.
"My name is Uchiha Sasuke... I'm going to restore the Uchiha clan and personally kill a certain man."
The moment it was Uchiha Sasuke's turn, the atmosphere instantly changed. His cold voice made his words sound chilling.
Uchiha Itachi...
The moment Kakashi thought of Itachi, an intense sense of urgency rose in her heart. She hated pain more than anything.
Being pinned down by Itachi and stabbed with a kunai for seventy-two hours straight was absolutely not something she wanted.
If she really ended up being stabbed by Itachi for seventy-two hours later on... she did not even dare imagine how painful that would be.
"All right. Gather at the training ground at five tomorrow morning. Dismissed."
Time was tight, and Kakashi did not want to waste words, so she directly ended the meeting.
"Eh? Wait, Kakashi-sensei, five in the morning? That early? Are we going on some kind of mission?"
Seeing this, Sakura hurriedly asked.
"A survival exercise."
"Eh?"
"Out of the twenty-seven graduates this year, only nine will actually become Genin. Tomorrow's survival exercise will test whether you're qualified to become Genin. If you fail, you'll have to go back to the Ninja Academy and study all over again."
"What?!"
All three of them were stunned by that answer and could hardly believe it was real.
"Oh, right. Don't eat breakfast tomorrow morning. Otherwise, you'll throw up."
After saying that final sentence, Kakashi used the Body Flicker Technique and left.
Without stopping, she immediately headed outside the village. She planned to find a place to test her new technique.
A single Super Electromagnetic Rasengan Cannon could consume more than ninety percent of her chakra, so she needed to modify the technique a little.
After arriving in a remote and deserted mountain forest, Kakashi began her experiments.
"The Super Electromagnetic Cannon works by using electromagnetic force to fire a compressed Rasengan. So maybe the Rasengan can be replaced with something else, or maybe it doesn't need to be compressed at all. I could just use a small amount of chakra to form a tiny Rasengan the size of a fingertip..."
The electromagnetic force would not need to be that strong either.
And the secondary acceleration from the magnetic field would not need to be that great.
In theory, it sounded workable.
But in actual practice, it was far from easy.
The system reward had given Kakashi a certain level of understanding and control over electromagnetic force, but that did not mean she could skillfully control its strength.
Her training continued until nightfall.
Only then did Kakashi finally grasp a little of the trick and successfully launch a tiny Rasengan made from only a small amount of chakra.
"The range is only about fifty meters? Any farther than that, and the Rasengan dissipates from high-speed flight and air friction."
"The power isn't that great, but it's still a little stronger than an ordinary Rasengan. And since it works as a ranged attack, I'll call this one the Super Electromagnetic Rasengan Spear."
After thinking it over a little, Kakashi decided on the name of the technique.
She believed that once she became more proficient later, the range of this Super Electromagnetic Rasengan Spear would increase even further.
First, she would set herself a small goal.
Make it reach the effective range of a sniper rifle at two thousand meters.
The moment that thought appeared, even Kakashi herself could not help laughing.
Two thousand meters? How could that possibly happen?
Unless she replaced the Rasengan with specially made metal.
Or increased the amount of chakra in the Rasengan and compressed it into an ultra-dense state.
But then wouldn't that just turn it back into the Super Electromagnetic Rasengan Cannon again?
"Wait. Specially made metal?"
Kakashi suddenly thought of a technique.
Kunai Raikiri.
By attaching the power of Raikiri to a kunai, the kunai's destructive power could be greatly increased.
So could she replace the projectile of the Super Electromagnetic Cannon with a Kunai Raikiri?
The next day, because she had trained too late the night before, Hatake Kakashi slept until nine in the morning before finally waking up.
After getting up, Kakashi slowly brushed her teeth and washed her face. Once she had changed clothes, she went out to eat breakfast.
After eating, she also bought two lunch boxes along the way before finally heading toward the training ground.
By the time she arrived, it was already ten o'clock.
"Yo, good morning."
"You're way too late!!!"
When Naruto and Sakura saw Kakashi finally appear, they could not help shouting in complaint.
They had arrived here at five, before sunrise, and ended up waiting until ten for her to show up.
"Sorry. On the way here, an old lady needed help crossing the street."
Kakashi explained with a slightly apologetic tone, though the excuse was so forced that not a single one of them believed it.
"Ahem. Let's begin now. The time limit is noon."
Having no other choice, Kakashi took out an alarm clock to shift their attention elsewhere.
Then she took out two bells and explained the rules to them.
"Wait, why are there only two bells?"
After hearing the explanation, Sakura hurriedly asked.
"Because at least one of you is guaranteed to fail and be sent back to the Ninja Academy. In fact, there's a very good chance all three of you will be sent back. So if you don't come at me with the intent to kill, you'll fail."
The three of them fell silent.
"But isn't that dangerous? Because Kakashi-sensei looks..."
Weak and delicate.
Sakura felt a little uneasy inside.
The teacher in front of her looked exactly like some frail young girl, with the sleepy, worn-out air of someone permanently exhausted.
She did not look like a Jonin at all.
"Exactly. You couldn't even dodge an eraser."
Naruto nodded repeatedly in agreement.
Then he looked again at Kakashi-sensei's outfit: a white shirt on top with a light blue thin jacket over it, and a black short skirt with black stockings below.
She looked exactly like one of those beautiful girls from manga who had no strength to fight at all.
Not like a powerful Jonin in real life in the slightest.
