Chapter 1 – The Forgotten Tunnel
Los Angeles slept under a blanket of fog.
Marcus Hale hated night shifts.
Especially ones in abandoned subway tunnels.
He adjusted his flashlight and kicked a loose rock down the dark corridor.
"Great," he muttered. "Four years of college just to end up doing ghost tours."
His boss had hired him to inspect an old underground train line scheduled for demolition.
Marcus walked deeper into the tunnel.
Water dripped from the ceiling.
The air smelled old… ancient.
Then his flashlight flickered.
Marcus frowned.
"Seriously?"
The beam of light landed on something strange.
A black metal box half buried in the concrete floor.
His heart skipped.
"That looks expensive."
He knelt down and brushed the dust away.
Strange symbols covered the surface.
They glowed faintly purple.
Marcus whispered,
"…What is this thing?"
The moment he touched it—
The tunnel exploded with darkness.
A shockwave of shadow energy blasted through the underground rail line.
Marcus screamed as freezing cold power rushed into his body.
Then everything went silent.
When he opened his eyes again…
The shadows around him were moving.
Breathing.
Watching.
And a voice echoed inside his mind.
HOST DETECTED.
Marcus slowly stood up.
"…What the hell?"
The voice continued.
SHADOW CORE ACTIVATED.
Marcus looked down at his hands.
Dark energy swirled between his fingers like living smoke.
And somewhere deep beneath the city…
Something ancient opened its eyes
Chapter 2 – The Moving Shadows
Marcus stared at his hands.
Dark energy twisted between his fingers like smoke.
"This can't be real."
The shadows on the tunnel wall suddenly stretched toward him.
Not attacking.
Responding.
A mechanical voice echoed inside his head:
SHADOW CORE LINK COMPLETE
Marcus took a step back.
"…Who said that?"
But the voice didn't answer.
Instead, the entire tunnel trembled.
Something deep underground had awakened.
Chapter 3 – The First Creature
Marcus turned his flashlight toward the darkness.
Two glowing eyes stared back at him.
Low.
Hungry.
A creature made of pure shadow crawled out of the tunnel wall.
Marcus's heart slammed in his chest.
"Oh no."
The monster lunged.
Instinctively Marcus raised his hand.
A wave of black energy exploded forward.
The creature shattered like glass.
Marcus froze.
"…I just did that."
Chapter 4 – Someone Is Watching
High above the city, in a tall building, a man with silver eyes looked out the window.
Adrian Cross.
He felt it instantly.
The return of shadow power.
"That's impossible," he whispered.
Five years ago the Shadow War ended.
But now…
The darkness was rising again.
Chapter 5 – The Secret Organization
In another part of the city, alarms rang inside a hidden underground base.
A woman studied a glowing screen.
"Energy spike detected."
Her assistant looked nervous.
"Could it be another Shadow Core?"
She nodded slowly.
"If it is…"
Her voice became serious.
"…we must find the host before the others do."
Chapter 6 – The Hunter Arrives
Marcus climbed out of the tunnel and into the empty street.
His head still spinning.
Then he heard footsteps.
A tall man stood across the road.
Watching him.
"Interesting," the stranger said.
Marcus frowned.
"Do I know you?"
The man smiled coldly.
"No."
His eyes suddenly turned red.
"But I know what you carry."
Chapter 7 – The Chase
The stranger attacked instantly.
Dark chains burst from the ground.
Marcus jumped back.
"What is wrong with this city?!"
The voice inside his head spoke again.

Marcus vanished.
Reappearing behind a parked car.
"…Okay that's useful."
But the hunter was already moving again.
Faster.
Stronger.
Chapter 8 – Lila
Just when the hunter prepared another attack—
A motorcycle roared into the street.
A girl in a black jacket skidded to a stop beside Marcus.
"Get on!"
Marcus blinked.
"…What?"
"Do you want to die tonight?" she shouted.
Marcus jumped on the bike.
The motorcycle shot down the street at full speed.
Behind them…
The hunter watched silently.
"They always run."
Chapter 9 – The Hidden Truth
The motorcycle stopped on a rooftop parking lot.
Marcus climbed off.
"Okay… who are you?"
The girl removed her helmet.
"My name is Lila."
Marcus crossed his arms.
"And you knew I was being hunted?"
She nodded.
"Because you activated something very dangerous."
Marcus sighed.
"Let me guess."
He raised his glowing hand.
"The shadow thing?"
Lila looked shocked.
"…You can already control it?"
Chapter 10 – The Warning
Lila pulled out a tablet and showed Marcus a map.
Red markers blinked across California.
"These are supernatural incidents," she explained.
Marcus leaned closer.
"There are hundreds."
Lila nodded.
"Because something is waking up."
Marcus frowned.
"What do you mean?"
Lila looked directly into his eyes.
"The Shadow Core inside you…"
Her voice became quiet.
"…is only one of five."
Marcus felt his stomach drop.
"Five?"
Lila nodded slowly.
"And if the wrong person collects them all…"
Thunder rolled across the city.
"…they can open the gate to the Shadow Realm."
