Chapter 4 - Onslaught

"Watch out!" The Kaiju's tail comes hurtling toward them.

Lucien quickly responded by casting the spell: "Severance of the Light!"

The staff emitted a light glow as it generated a hexagon-shaped protective shield.

Ivy then extended both of her hands, supporting the barrier to enhance its durability.

The tail makes contact with the barrier with such force that the barrier becomes unstable and cracks under the pressure.

"It's about to shatter—" Gard responded immediately and swiftly, seizing both Lucien's shirt and Danise's gossamer wings.

The barrier broke and shattered into pieces... "Crap." There's not enough time.

He decided to throw them violently upward.

"Eh?" Lucien mumbled confused. Ivy's eyes widened, "NO! Blue-haired perv!!" she shouted, trying to reach out for Gard's hand.

Lucien reacted quickly and grabbedhel her wings, preventing her from flying over Gard.

"What? Why does she mention his name like that? Oh yeah, It's my first time summoning her—last week from the spirit temple. She hasn't met most of the adventurers..."

His head turned back to Gard, eyes widen "Gard!!"

In the process, Gard was hit by the tail. "Agh—!" He was propelled backward, causing injuries and some blood as he collided with the structures behind him.

Verene's eyes widened as she caught Gard, who was sent flying past her.

She quickly rushed to him. "Please be okay...!" she whimpered, worried.

The Godzilla started moving forward, crushing everyone beneath it.

Meanwhile, a mile away... "Fire!"—the Railgun tank delivered another shot, but it appeared that the monster took no apparent damage.

"The railgun tank has no effect... how...?" One of the soldiers stumbled backward.

"No way..." Their hands and legs were shaking with fear.

The Kaiju charged its attack once more, letting out another atomic blast, this time aiming toward the tank's location.

"RUN!!" The environment turned into chaos and panic as soldiers screamed in fear and ran for their lives.

The sound of footsteps grew heavier. "Dammit! Where the fuck is the other team!?" one of them exclaimed.

Lucien then cast a spell: "Solar Strike!" A powerful ray of sunlight that burns and blinds anyone.

However, the attack seemed to have no effect against the Kaiju's dorsal plates.

"Hey, you big fat Godzilla! Turn your attention to me!!!" he yelled. His hand was shaking, sweat drops beaded on his face.

The Kaiju released its atomic breath towards the Railgun tank from a mile away, resulting in the instant destruction of both the tank and its surroundings.

The surrounding lit up as the atomic blast made contact with the ground.

"HELP——!" "AHHHHH!" "NOOO!" Soldiers screamed in fear as they got vaporized by the heat.

"..." Lucien clenched his fist tightly. "It's all my fault. If only I'm a Grade lll sorcerer..."

"Huh? Where is Ivy?" he mumbled questioning himself. Ivy was just right next to him few seconds ago.

On the other side, Gard's body rested on a wrecked brick wall.

He eventually regained consciousness and coughed up blood after a few moments.

He tried to catch his breath attempting stand up.

"Lay down, you don't look too well yet..." Verene spoke in a worried tone, her hand stretched out, casting a healing spell at him.

Gard asked, "W-what—" He let out a cough. "What about the others..?" Verene looked away, dodging the question; her eyes filled with empathy.

Ivy flapped her wings, getting closer to Gard. "Blue-haired perv!" she shouted. "I thought you were dead..."

Verene stared at the fairy, her eyes widened. It's her first time seeing a fairy. "May I ask... who are you..?" she asked curiously.

Ivy rested her hands on her hips. "Hahaha!" she laughed proudly.

"Me? I'm none other than Ivy Redgrace! The strongest fairy in the world!"

Suddenly, a human-like shadow covered the sunlight behind her.

"No, you're not," Lucien mumbled as he pinched her ear, letting out a whimper. "Ow—!"

"W-what's the current situation?" Gard asked, blood dripped down through his mouth and chin.

"The monster proceeded to move forward. About where it's headed is still unknown... if we don't do anything, they'll—" Lucien's voice wavered with slight fear, then suddenly cut off.

"I have a plan." suddenly the elf female from earlier who saved Axel unexpectedly appeared out of nowhere.

Imra Glyntoris, an Grade lll sorcerer, Upper-S Rank titled 'Duskwraith' assassin class, member of the Taranis guild.

Ivy flew beside her. "HoHo~ Who is this elf~?" Her voice had a mix of playfulness.

"Imra..? Why are you here—?" Lucien mumbled, jaw dropped.

"Teams C and D should handle the current situation and reinforcements should arrive in 15 more minutes. All we need to do is buy time." Imra said, as she crossed her arms.

Ivy flew back onto Lucien's shoulder and whispered something in his ear. "Isn't she the elf you're talking about? The one you had a crush on?" Her voice was low.

Lucien's face immediately turned red as he heard Ivy's teasing comment, trying to cover his face in embarrassment.

"I have just received intel from the Lieutinant General." She touched the intercom in her ear.

"About Godzilla..." she paused. "It's heading towards Paris, the Eiffel Tower."

Her voice carried a mix of seriousness and urgency.

Verene, whose arm was still stretched non-stop healing Gard, commented, "Ehh?! Eiffel Tower..? What for?" Her eyes widened, filled with curiosity.

"Well, based on the information I got, the real goal of the monster is still unkown," she replied, resting her chin on her hand.

"So, what's your plan?" Gard seemed to be back to normal; he was nearly fully healed.

"Well... for that to work, you would need to recover first. We can't leave you in the battle wounded," Verene said sternly.

"She's right. How long until he's fully healed?" Imra spun her dagger swiftly and caught it with precision, ready to strike the monster.

"About 3 more minutes..." Verene closed her eyes and focused all her mana into the spell.

"Good..." Imra stated. "That should be enough for the other teams to arrive." She let out a grin

Teams C and D, which contain a handy of S-Rankers and below rank adventurers, making their way into the city.

"Lads! Time for us to kick that Godzilla's ass!" an adventurer declared, placing his left leg on top of a ruin while his greatsword lay on his shoulder.
