Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Extermination

[You have slain a Great Tyrant]

Another Queen perished in the span of ten minutes. They most likely ruled over this land for centuries, and now a new foe was culling them quickly.

The Great Devils that were previously surrounding the Queen didn't let Serpent off. They all jammed their large clenchers into Serpent's side. Serpent's hide was thick and strong, but it wasn't impenetrable. They left long, terrible gashes in its large frame.

However, the damage was still significantly reduced. At this moment, Sunny finally crashed down. He didn't manage to kill a Great Devil since he telegraphed his move so long ago, but that wasn't the intention.

Releasing Serpent's summoning and allowing the creature to back into his soul sea, Sunny shadow stepped away right when two more Tyrants arrived with all their Devils.

He had Shadow Stepped so far that his near-inexhaustible essence reserves had fallen a significant amount.

Taking a deep breath, Sunny was far away. He was elated. He managed to kill two of them today. That would help significantly. Having someone to lead the millipedes was a great boon.

Then he slid one of the incarnations off of him and activated his transformation ability. It was him, but he was injured. In the middle of the battle, Sunny switched incarnations. That one blow he took from the Tyrant caved in his armor and broke several ribs.

"That's what happens when you just use a shell, you bastard." The injured Sunny said.

"Well, the plan worked perfectly, didn't it?" Both Sunnys looked at each other, one with contempt and the other with joy.

The reason he got injured was that manifesting as a Shadowspawn would've truly made him more durable, but instead he opted to encase himself with Shadows.

It really does interrupt an enemy's momentum when their opponents change sizes at whim.

Sighing, Sunny sat down to rest. He knew the battles would only grow in difficulty. He could only be more cunning at this point. Maybe even go down into the barrows to kill his enemies.

The Tyrants would play it safe from now on. That was okay. Sunny would continue to dismantle them slowly and increase his army's size.

So long as he killed the Tyrants, the control over their armies would diminish while Sunny's would continue to strengthen. At a certain point, even if his army was weaker, it would triumph over their army so long as he controlled them better.

And that's what happened over the next few weeks. The Queens barely showed their faces. Their armies would come out and attack. Sunny would personally wreak havoc with his army, destroying generals quickly.

The Tyrant in charge of the area would wait until reinforcements arrived, and as soon as they did enter the battle, Sunny would leave before he could get surrounded.

This happened for a few weeks until the Tyrants didn't even leave each other anymore. They ambushed Sunny one day in a surprise attack. They immediately entered the battle and used their wills so that his Shadow Step wouldn't go too far.

However, they took Sunny for a fool. He knew eventually this would happen. They only had so many options left. He was a calamity descending upon the land. They would be frantic and launch an all-out attack eventually and commit multiple Great Tyrants to a battle like now.

So he made a plan. It would take awhile but he had time. He eventually knew these Tyrants wouldn't allow him to appear suddenly and retreat as he pleased.

That's when Sunny summoned a memory.

Memory: [Tyrant's Nightmare].

Memory Rank: Supreme.

Memory Type: Tool.

Memory Tier: VII

Memory Enchantments: [Suppression]

[Suppression] Enchantment Description: ["This memory activates a barrier of time suppression."]

Sunny had the corpses of two Great Tyrants. In total, with the Great Devils he killed, he had twenty supreme soul shards, counting the one he also grabbed from Antarctica. This specific memory was activated and connected with the nodes he spread out through the barrows. Each node was a memory in itself. However, they could all be linked together, forming a large barrier.

The best part about these Tyrants was that they all shared incredibly similar abilities. So much so that making a memory to help negate the aspects was possible.

Sunny knew from experience that the enemies one struggles with the most are enemies with similar powers.

In that moment, all five Great Tyrants found themselves unable to properly wield their powers. It took weeks of planning and creating all those memories, but today, Sunny would reap the benefits of his labor.

Summoning a spear, Sunny threw it with incredible force. It abruptly started to transform into a large serpent. Sunny released a Supreme Titan onto the battlefield.

The battle lasted a few hours, and still, while they were defeated, Sunny was completely battered. He went through three of his incarnations while the fourth sustained only a bit of damage.

Serpent had cuts and bruises everywhere. Sunny's army was obliterated in the first two hours, but nobody could stop him or Serpent, and eventually, he started to get more and more shades.

When it reached a qualitative change, he immediately released them back into the battlefield. The tides shifted tremendously after that. The Great Tyrants attempted to run, but Sunny didn't allow it. As soon as one turned their back, he culled the others. Eventually, he caught the last straggler and killed it.

Panting deeply behind the Weaver's Mask, Sunny took deep, long breaths. It had been too long since he truly felt a battle of this degree. The thrill was unmatched. Even then, he felt severe pain. Cycling through avatars didn't make the pain go away.

So the entire time, Sunny was nursing wounds while fighting his enemies. Although their main power was suppressed, he still fought five Great Tyrants, and if his count was right, their was fifty-eight Great Devils.

The two Tyrant shades also helped significantly.

No Supreme Titan could survive such a terrifying force. Not even Sunny. Luckily, he stripped them of their main powers. The barrier he had created had around ten nodes. From the Tyrants, he murdered. Each node had the main Supreme soul shard of the Tyrant, with six soul shards supporting it and increasing its power.

It was an intricate design. Allowing all of them to link together. In a way, it was like the [Curse]. Which was another reason why Sunny defeated his enemies. On top of suppressing them with a complex memory [Curse], significantly reduced their powers as well.

Sunny appeared in the soul sea. Looking around, he was pleased. On top of all those Great abominations, he had countless Corrupted creatures populating his soul.

Now he could finally leave the Burned Forest.
