{Third Person}
The servants remained silent because the culprit wasn't amongst them.
"I am giving whoever did it one opportunity to speak."
No one moved.
"If no one admits what happened, then all of you will be locked up until I find out who is responsible."
The servants became visibly frightened.
They still had no idea why their mistress was so alarmed over a letter, but the threat of being locked up was enough to make several of them exchange nervous glances.
Finally, one servant stepped forward. "Madam..."
Matilda immediately turned to her with a death stare. "What?"
"I did not touch the letter."
"Then why did you interrupt me?"
The servant swallowed a gulp. "I saw Miss Lila."
Matilda froze. "Lila?"
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Where?"
"In the box where the butler keeps letters ready to be delivered."
"When?"
"About three minutes after you handed the letter over to the butler."
Matilda stared at the woman. "Are you sure?"
The servant nodded quickly. "Yes, Ma'am."
