Seeing that Amara was not going to answer him, Alexander finally let out a quiet sigh.
He had learned that forcing her to speak would not make her more willing to do so. Whatever was troubling her, she would tell him when she was ready.
Or so he hoped.
"I have a lecture in an hour," he said, rising from the bench. "I need to leave."
Amara immediately stood as well. "You're not going to have breakfast?"
He shook his head. "No. I don't want to be late. I also have several meetings after that."
She nodded. "All right."
He waited for a moment before asking, "Do you want me to get anything for you on my way back?"
"No." She shook her head. "That's all right. I will get it myself."
"Why?"
"I still need to pick up a few things for Ginger. I can get them while I'm out. I don't want to trouble you."
Alexander's expression changed slightly. "This is no trouble."
