Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 01

The first thing Naruto noticed was the blue glow.

It hovered in front of his face like a stubborn firefly that refused to be swatted away. He blinked. It didn't go away. He rubbed his eyes. Still there. He even tried to pinch himself—ow—but nope, definitely real.

[SYSTEM ACTIVE]

[Gacha Shinobi Online]

[Welcome, Player One!]

[New Player Gift: 1 Free Pull]

Naruto sat up in bed so fast his head spun. "What the—?" He waved a hand through the floating text. It shimmered but stayed put. "Is this some kind of trick? A prank? If it's you, Mizuki-sensei, I swear—"

The screen pulsed, and a robotic voice spoke directly into his mind. *No prank. This is your Gacha System. Pull to begin your journey.*

Naruto's jaw dropped. Then a grin split his face. "Gacha? Like those capsule machines at the market? Sweet!" He scanned the glowing interface. There were buttons labeled [PULL], [SHOP], [INVENTORY], and a spinning wheel with silhouettes of jutsu, weapons, and—were those characters?

He jabbed the [PULL] button before he could second-guess himself.

The wheel spun so fast it became a blur. Naruto's heart hammered. *Come on, come on… something awesome, something awesome…*

The wheel slowed. Symbols clicked into place one by one.

[Shadow Clone Jutsu - B-Rank Ninjutsu]

[Unlocked: Unlimited Uses]

The words blinked cheerfully. Naruto's grin faltered. "Unlimited Shadow Clones? But… I already know the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Everyone knows I can do that."

*Confirmed: Duplicate skill detected. Skill upgraded to unlimited usage. Congratulations, Player One!*

"Unlimited? As in… I can make a thousand without passing out?"

*Affirmative. Chakra cost reduced to negligible levels while active.*

Naruto shot to his feet, sending blankets flying. He formed the cross-seal on instinct. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Poof! Ten perfect copies materialized around him in a burst of smoke. They grinned back at him, identical to the original down to the messy blond hair.

"Whoa!" Naruto laughed, spinning in place. "This is insane! I could finally pass the clone test, ace the exams, maybe even—" He stopped, a new thought hitting him. "Wait, if I can make unlimited clones, I could train a hundred times faster! I could learn everything!"

The screen pulsed again.

[Hidden Quest: Make Hinata Hyūga smile. Reward: 100 Gacha Coins.]

[Hint: She sits by the classroom window, third seat from the left.]

Naruto blinked. "Hinata? Who's that?" He glanced toward the window, catching a glimpse of the academy across the street. Early morning light painted the rooftops gold. "Some girl, huh? Fine, I'll do it. But only 'cause I could use those coins."

He dismissed the clones with a wave. They vanished in little puffs, leaving him alone with the floating blue screen. It felt… weird. Like having a secret power no one else knew about.

Naruto's grin returned, wider than before. "Alright, System. You and me. Let's show everyone what Naruto Uzumaki can really do. Believe it!"

He grabbed his jacket, bolted out the door, and didn't look back. The screen followed him like a loyal shadow, humming quietly in his peripheral vision.

Somewhere across the village, a pale-eyed girl with short indigo hair sat at her desk, staring out the window. Her fingers traced the edge of her notebook. She didn't know why, but she suddenly felt… hopeful. Like something good was about to happen.

Even if she couldn't quite see it yet.

---

The academy classroom buzzed with morning chatter. Iruka stood at the front, trying to wrangle the students into silence.

"Quiet down, everyone! We have a lot to cover today, so let's—"

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

The shout came from the back. Everyone turned. Naruto stood on his desk, hands already in the cross-seal. Before Iruka could react, ten perfect clones poofed into existence around him.

The room erupted. Students gasped, laughed, pointed. Even the brooding Uchiha Sasuke looked mildly impressed.

Iruka's mouth opened and closed. "Naruto… how did you—"

"Unlimited Shadow Clones, baby!" Naruto crowed, pumping a fist. His clones cheered in unison, throwing playful punches at each other. "No more wimpy one-clone mess! I'm taking this test and passing it, believe it!"

Iruka pinched the bridge of his nose. "Naruto, you can't just—"

But Naruto was already charging forward, clones streaming behind him like a comet's tail. He skidded to a stop in front of Iruka's desk, grinning like a madman.

"Watch this, Sensei! I'll make you proud!"

Iruka sighed, but there was a smile tugging at his lips. "Alright, alright. Show me what you've got."

Naruto's eyes sparkled. He turned to his clones. "You heard him! Let's nail this!"

The clones nodded, forming neat rows. Naruto faced Iruka, hands steady. "Ready when you are!"

Iruka raised a hand. "Begin."

Naruto and his clones launched into the transformation sequence. Poof! Poof! Poof! In seconds, the room filled with perfect copies of Iruka, all standing at attention.

The real Iruka stared, mouth slightly agape. "That's… that's more than enough, Naruto."

Naruto dismissed the clones with a laugh. "See? Told ya I'd pass! Believe it!"

Iruka shook his head, but his eyes were soft. "You did good, Naruto. Real good."

Naruto's grin threatened to split his face. He turned toward the window, where a certain pale-eyed girl sat quietly. Their eyes met for a heartbeat. Naruto's smile faltered.

She looked… sad.

The blue screen pulsed in his mind.

[Hidden Quest Progress: Hinata Hyūga observed. 0/1 smiles achieved.]

Naruto's jaw set. He didn't know why, but suddenly he really wanted to see her smile.

He turned back to Iruka, bouncing on his heels. "So, what's next? I'm ready for anything!"

Iruka chuckled. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. One step at a time, alright?"

Naruto nodded, but his mind was already racing. Unlimited clones. Hidden quests. A whole world of possibilities opening up.

And maybe, just maybe, a chance to make someone smile.

He could do that.

He would do that.

Believe it.

---

Later that day, Naruto loitered by the academy gates, kicking at pebbles. The blue screen hovered in his vision, patient and silent.

[Hidden Quest: Make Hinata Hyūga smile. Reward: 100 Gacha Coins.]

[Progress: 0/1]

Naruto huffed. "How am I supposed to make her smile if I don't even know her?"

The screen pulsed.

[Hint: She enjoys peaceful places. Try the park near the academy at sunset.]

Naruto's eyebrows shot up. "Peaceful places? At sunset?" He scratched his head. "That's… actually kinda specific."

He glanced toward the setting sun, painting the village in warm orange light. The park wasn't far. Maybe…

Naruto straightened. "Alright, System. You're on. Let's go make this girl smile."

He took off running, the screen trailing behind him like a determined shadow.

The quest had begun.

And Naruto Uzumaki never backed down from a challenge.

Believe it.

---

The park was quieter than Naruto expected. Soft grass tickled his ankles as he walked, hands in his pockets. The blue screen hovered at eye level, casting a faint glow.

[Hidden Quest: Make Hinata Hyūga smile. Reward: 100 Gacha Coins.]

[Progress: 0/1]

Naruto scanned the area. A few kids played on the swings. An old man fed pigeons by the fountain. No sign of the girl from earlier.

He flopped onto a bench, pouting. "This is stupid. How am I supposed to find one person in a whole village?"

The screen pulsed.

[Hint: She often sits beneath the large cherry tree by the pond.]

Naruto's head snapped up. "Cherry tree? Pond?" He spotted them across the grass—a majestic tree with pink blossoms, its branches dipping toward still water. "Oh."

He stood, brushing off his pants. "Alright, alright. I'm going."

As he approached, he spotted her. Hinata sat with her back to him, knees drawn to her chest, staring at the water. Her short indigo hair caught the fading light.

Naruto hesitated. "Uh… hey."

She jumped, turning. Her pale eyes widened. "N-Naruto-kun?"

He scratched his cheek, suddenly nervous. "Yeah, uh… mind if I sit?"

She scooted over without a word. Naruto plopped down beside her, the screen hovering between them like an awkward chaperone.

[Hidden Quest: Make Hinata Hyūga smile. Reward: 100 Gacha Coins.]

[Progress: 0/1]

Naruto cleared his throat. "So… nice view, huh?"

Hinata nodded, hugging her knees tighter. "Y-Yes. It's peaceful here."

Naruto glanced at the screen. *Peaceful places. Right.*

He tried again. "You come here a lot?"

"Sometimes." Her voice was barely above a whisper. "When things get… loud."

Naruto frowned. "Loud? Like… noise?"

She shook her head. "No. Just… loud. Inside."

The screen pulsed.

[Hint: She values kindness. Show her you care.]

Naruto's eyes widened. *Show her I care?* He glanced at Hinata, who was tracing patterns in the grass.

He took a breath. "Hey… I know we don't really talk much. But… I'm here if you ever need someone to listen. Okay?"

Hinata's head snapped up. Her pale eyes searched his face. "You… you'd do that?"

Naruto shrugged, trying to look casual. "Sure. Why not? Everyone needs a friend sometimes."

A tiny smile tugged at Hinata's lips. Just a flicker. But it was there.

The screen flashed.

[Hidden Quest Complete!]

[Reward: 100 Gacha Coins]

[Bonus: Hinata Hyūga's trust increased!]

Naruto's jaw dropped. "Wait, that's it? I made her smile?"

Hinata blinked. "Smile? I… I don't think I…"

But Naruto was already grinning. "Yes! I did it! Believe it!"

He turned to her, eyes sparkling. "See? Told ya I'd make you smile. You're welcome!"

Hinata's cheeks flushed. "I… thank you, Naruto-kun."

Naruto laughed, punching the air. "No problem! That's what friends are for, right?"

The screen pulsed approvingly.

[New Quest Available: Train with Hinata. Reward: Special Jutsu Scroll.]

Naruto's eyes widened. "Whoa, another quest already?"

He glanced at Hinata, who was watching him with curiosity. "Hey… wanna train together sometime? I could show you some moves."

Her eyes widened. "You… you'd train with me?"

"Why not?" Naruto grinned. "Two heads are better than one. Plus, I could use a training partner. Believe it!"

Hinata's smile grew. Not just a flicker this time. A real, honest smile.

Naruto felt something warm bloom in his chest.

*Yeah,* he thought. *This is nice.*

The screen hovered between them, content.

[Quest Updated: Train with Hinata. Reward: Special Jutsu Scroll.]

[Progress: 1/1 smiles achieved.]

Naruto leaned back against the tree, stretching his arms. "So… when do you wanna start? I'm free whenever."

Hinata tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I… I'd like that. Very much."

Naruto's grin widened. "Awesome! Then it's a date. I mean, not a date-date. Just a training date. You know?"

She giggled. A soft, musical sound that made Naruto's stomach do a little flip.

*Wow,* he thought. *I did that.*

The screen pulsed once more, then faded into the growing twilight.

[Daily Login Bonus Claimed: 100 Gacha Coins]

Naruto didn't notice. He was too busy watching Hinata's smile, feeling lighter than he had in years.

*Maybe,* he thought, *this system thing isn't so bad after all.*

And somewhere in the back of his mind, a voice whispered:

*Believe it.*
