Marcus sat down on his new bed in the new place and closed his eyes for a moment to rest.
"I want to work, but it seems like it is best to not work and just rest," he thought.
Without any more thoughts, he just entered a deep sleep.
In the morning, about six am, he opened his eyes and then got up quickly.
He first washed his body with the bucket as much as he could, as this was counted as a shower in this world, and then changed to a new set of clothes.
"I may make a perfume of some sort using my capability as Alchemist."
"I am sure it would bring a lot of profit," he made a joke within his mind and then changed into a new set of clothes.
After everything was finished, he paid three more drakes to the inkeeper for the room.
Before he spoke with the College of Winterhold, he did not want to carry all of his belongings with him and wanted to be light on his feet.
"Now."
Marcus left the inn and then started walking towards the entrance of the college.
When he came too close, two guards, wearing robes clearly mages, stopped him and asked.
"Please tell us your name and your reason to visit."
Marcus looked at one of the guards, a young man with a kind face, and then said.
"I am Marcus, a mage and alchemist who wants to get in contact with the college, maybe even study in the college."
The young man nodded.
"Okay."
"Please go on and then go from the right."
"When you go up, in the closed bridge, one of the mages from the Winterhold College will meet you up and test you."
"If you are great and given permission, then you can go in."
Marcus nodded and then moved on; he made a right turn and then started going up.
Now, this is the first entrance that one would encounter in the Skyrim game.
Instead of just this entrance, even the first entrance he had entered had a big courtyard and many other buildings that were not in the game at all.
After walking, he expected to see the mage.
He then came to a small closed bridge; it was made of stone on a small hut-like building.
He entered, and then a woman, thirty years old or something, looked at him.
She was a dark elf.
"Hi."
Marcus nodded.
"Hi."
The woman then continued.
"I am Elivine, Apprentice Mage Of The College Of Winterhold. My duty today is that I am testing the people who want to enter the college in a position of students or more depending on the test."
"You are informed, am I right?"
Marcus nodded.
"Yes, I know."
"Can I take the test?"
Elivine nodded.
"It is a two-septim test."
Marcus nodded and then paid two septims.
"Okay."
The first test is simple.
"Can you show me any spell that you can cast? It can be novice spells; nothing more is needed."
"Just a test to see if you are able to cast magic in the first place."
Marcus nodded and raised his right hand, then whispered.
"Candlelight."
With his whisper, a bright white light manifested and then lighted up the dark stone room.
Elivine nodded.
"Great."
"It is fast and stable."
"It seems like you are not a novice mage at all."
Marcus nodded.
Elivine then added.
"The second test."
"Can you cast any spell higher than novice-level spells?"
Marcus thought and then nodded.
He stopped casting Candlelight and then targeted a small opening on the side and then whispered.
"Flame Atronach," with his whisper, a dark energy-colored ball formed, and then as he let it go, a door to Oblivion opened, and a Flame Atronach manifested.
Elivine gulped and was taken aback.
She looked at the Flame Atronach and then nodded.
"Great."
"Pretty good," she said.
"You passed..." she said and then turned back to prepare a small card-like paper and then gave it to Marcus after she wrote his name on it.
Marcus looked at the paper and nodded.
"Marcus."
"Apprentice-Level Mage."
Marcus nodded.
Elivine then said.
"If you want more of a higher-level classification, you need to talk and meet with mages of those levels."
"Only by their test and rights can you have your level elevated."
"Adept Level tests need three completed papers, and Expert Level needs five."
"For a higher level of mages, it is more complicated."
Marcus nodded and then asked.
"How many mages are in Winterhold College?"
Elivine thought and then said it.
"I guess it is about five to seven thousand mages always in the whole college and around Winterhold, but the number can be more or less depending on the time of year and if there is a big research project."
"Go on inside and meet with Mirabelle Ervine; she is the one who gives all this information to new mages and can talk to you about everything you want to do."
"Research, projects, studying, use of the library, classes—everything you can ask her and learn the details."
Marcus nodded and smiled.
"Thank you for everything," and then he passed her and kept on walking up to the bridge.
The closer he got, the more he understood that the real college is much bigger than he imagined.
At least, fifteen to twenty times bigger.
