Chapter 9 - 9

"Lady Walpurga, there's a boy standing near the house.

"Let him stand there, why are you telling me?

"Mistress, forgive stupid Kricher, the boy is standing right at the door and calling me.

"I don't understand, Kricher, have you lost your mind? How could anyone walk onto our doorstep without permission?

"I don't know, ma'am.

With a wave of her wand, Lady Walpurga summoned a box from somewhere, took out a vial of potion and a pendant in the shape of a dog's head.

"Drink this," she said, waiting for the house-elf to drink the potion, then handed him the pendant. "Now put this on, go out and ask him who he is and what he wants."

"Good morning, Jarvis."

...Good morning, Harry...

Well, that greeting is much better than yesterday after the update. Okay, time to go downstairs. We have to go for a walk today.

I'm such an idiot... I got the appraisal skill and haven't used it on anyone yet.Name: Petunia Dursley

Actually, that's what I saw when I went down for breakfast. My stats aren't that bad compared to normal people and squibs, but it's a shame I can't see any more information. Breakfast went smoothly and everyone got ready to go for a walk.

I don't know who to thank, my aunt or my luck, but as soon as we got out of the car, I saw a man in a colourful robe.

"Auntie, Uncle, do you see the man in the robe in front of us?" I asked them.

"No, Harry, what is it?" my uncle said worriedly.

"Everything's fine, just follow me.

Literally a couple of minutes later, I saw the Leaky Cauldron. Well, what can I say, it looked like some kind of homeless shelter... I don't understand why wizards still live in the Middle Ages and don't strive for progress. Anyway, we remembered the place, and now it was time to go to Grimmauld Place.

I saw house number 12 almost immediately. It was very different from the surrounding houses, primarily because it looked like it was in some kind of bubble. I asked my aunt and uncle to take a walk in the nearby park and went to the door myself.

"Harry, that's a stupid idea, you won't get anywhere..."

"Well, we won't know unless we try."

I walked up to the door, knocked, and called out to Kreacher. Literally a few minutes later, there was a bang.

"What does the young wizard want from poor Kreacher?

...Oh...

"I'm in shock."

Jarvis was shocked that my plan had worked, but I was shocked for a completely different reason.

Energy Vampire - a race of energy beings that live off the magic of others and can live near powerful mages or places of power. They are not dangerous. They periodically die and are reborn. They receive all their powers at birth and cannot develop them further.

"Krihera? How so? May I call you Meliodas?" And then the elf's eyes widened.

"Young mage, how do you know my true name?

"Let's just say it's my gift.

"That's a dangerous gift, young wizard... what do you want?

"Well, I came to see Lady Valpurge, but I wasn't sure she would hear me. But now I'm more interested in what such an ancient and powerful energy vampire is doing in the house of ordinary magicians." I thought his eyes couldn't get any bigger, and his jaw dropped.

"But... but... how????" he stammered, "Only a vampire like me could sense me, but you're just a normal human, what's going on?

"I told you, I have a gift, and you still haven't answered my question.

"Young mage, you are very surprising. As for what I'm doing here," he hesitated, "it's easier for us to live this way. We're not interested in power or anything like that, but we're dependent on magic. It's a kind of Muggle drug for us. That's why we attach ourselves to powerful magical families and places of power," he lowered his head.

"Well, you don't have an enviable fate," I reached out to him and tried to let my mana touch him, "don't be upset.

The elf's eyes twitched, and he fell to his knees.

"Unbelievable, a real mage, not one of those horrible imitations that live in this world now. Honoured mage, help us!" He banged his forehead on the floor.

"Calm down, get up and explain what the problem is," he said. The elf got up and began to explain incoherently.

"The thing is, something has happened to magic in this world. It has become dirty, and it has made our lives harder. We are reborn many times, but the time between rebirths is getting shorter and shorter, and someday we will disappear completely. Not to mention that young elves stopped being born about 100 years ago.

...Received the task "Save the vampire"...

"Save the vampire

Save the cheerleader, save the world. Save the vampire, save the world.

Find out what's causing the problems in this world and save the race of energy vampires.

Reward:

+5 levels, a box of supplies, and the eternal loyalty of the energy vampire race.

"Interesting, well, I have to solve the world's problems anyway, so I'll take care of yours too.

"Thank you, mage," he bowed.

"Now tell me, is Lady Walpurga at home?

"Yes, she's home, but she's not feeling well.

"Well, we'll figure something out, but now go to her and tell her that Harry Potter is here.

Poor Kreacher, I think his eye is going to start twitching from talking to me...
