Chapter 91 - Ch 91: Jogo Vs Naoya

Ever since Jogo fried Maki, I have been on the lookout for him. I check any available place I can and thing I remember about Kenjanku's hideout, but lucky for Jogo, I didn't come up with anything useful.

You know the feeling when someone messes with your family and you can't do anything because the opposition, let's say, hides behind money. Well, here, Jogo just hide like a well-trained assassin to the point I can't even pinpoint him since he is also a curse, I can't even issue a look out notice.

So I was relieved to finally receive word of Jogo's location—ironically, delivered by the cursed spirit himself. Since he had the courtesy to reveal his whereabouts, I figured I owed him the courtesy of showing up.

"I thought you wouldn't come," Jogo said, revealing himself from the shadows of the trees as night fell.

Contrary to my expectations, he was alone; I had been certain this was an ambush. "Well, I was itching to finish you off, so I had to come regardless."

"Your bravery is commendable. But I have questions. What would you have done if this were a trap?" Jogo looked at me curiously, waiting for the answer. His mini-volcano on top of his head was smoking, indicating that he was preparing himself for the inevitable fight that would take place after this conversation came to its end.

"Well, I would just kill you all if that were to happen. I believe I have the power, and even in the case of me being overpowered by you guys, I can use my projectile sorcery to escape. In terms of speed, I believe none can catch up to me."

Since if someone were to even dig up a little bit on me, they would immediately know about my projectile sorcery as well as RCT; because of that, I didn't need to hide it. Of course, I used my 2nd technique on Jogo during our previous confrontation, and Kenjaku must have looked into it also, but he won't get anything useful, as I already hid that technique very well.

Hearing my reply, Jogo let out a chuckle, which I found amusing, as I didn't remember Jogo smiling at anyone in the original anime, maybe when fighting with Sukuna or maybe when he was with his fellow curse, but never at humans.

"I know about that," Jogo said, then he continued as amusement dripping from his tone, "But what I was talking about is the chance of me using myself as bait to lure you out to the outskirts so that you won't be able to help Sukuna's vessel."

I became serious at those words, "Does that imply you also managed to remove Gojo from the equation?"

Jogo nodded. "Yes, it won't be much of a plan if we don't do that. You and Gojo are the biggest obstacles for us. But given that, I haven't seen Gojo's fighting, but even with that lack of insight, I believe you are the most dangerous one. Tell me, Naoya Zenin, when I burned Maki Zenin to crisps, did you shed a tear seeing her disfigurement? I believe you did not. I heard humans saying that tears and sadness for your loved one are what make one a human to their fullest self, though I didn't agree with that, but in that sense are you a human or a curse like us wearing the mask of a human?"

I became silent at that. Was I human or not? An interesting question, to say the least. "I never imagined you would be someone this philosophical, Jogo. And for your question, I cried, Jogo, more than anyone. I shed my mourning for my loved one once, but in the drought of my own soul, my tears evaporated, and my heart shrunk like a raisin. I am no human; I am just a shell of my humanity. I am the curse of my past; I am a monster of my own making."

"I see." That was all Jogo could reply. What Naoya said didn't make sense to Jogo, as from the history he read about Naoya, there was no point in his life that made sense of what Naoya just said. Did 'Geto' miss anything?

That was the thought that filled Jogo until Naoya called him out. "Can you tell me what you are planning to do with Yuji?"

My worst fear was them killing off Yuji and others, but that fear was not needed as Jogo's words give me the relief I needed: "We just wanted to see the power of the fabled King of Curses."

That made me pause; there was only one incident where Kanjaku tested Yuji, and Yuji died in that, the Cursed Womb arc. "Are you by any chance talking about Eishu Juvenile Detention Center?"

Jogo looked at me, giving me a wild grin; his charcoal-black teeth were in full display. "I know that you already exorcised the curse worm that was about to birth there and even took Sukuna's finger. Initially, that place was where we planned to send Yuji, but due to your interface, we changed it; now it's Eishu Kindergarten."

I froze at those words. Kindergarten? Please tell me it's not what I'm thinking.

"It's exactly what you're thinking," Jogo replied, a twisted grin spreading across his face. "Since we've been busy chit-chatting, Yuji Itadori and his group have surely arrived. By now, they're likely already struggling against the special grade waiting for them." He then looked straight into my soul as he uttered his next words, "If you want you can go and help them. I won't attack you."
