"...ouch" The boy groaned.
He slowly opened his eyes to a bright sun. It took a few seconds for the boy to adjust to his surroundings. He looked up to see a source of light that was hard to look at. Two, in fact. The boy covered his eyes after it got too unbearable and began to see purple -or green? - in his vision.
"OUCH! What is this!? Where am I?!" The boy questioned. After he had calmed down, he began to look at his surroundings.
He was lying down on the stairs under a Tori gate leading to a Japanese-style shrine that is on top of a mountain. The shrine looked charred as if burned down, yet it still stands unbroken. Within the shrine was a small statue of a blindfolded woman whose features were difficult to perceive from afar.
"What in the hell?" The boy is very confused about his predicament. He tried to recall his memories...but failed.
"?" The boy tilted his head. "Who am I?"
Yes, the boy does not have any memories of himself, not even his own name. Although he still has basic knowledge and common sense.
Except for one
"A ... ritual?" The memory is about the boy making a small cut on his palm with a sharp rock. The blood dripping from it leaks down on a complex magic circle of runes in front of a statue. A blindfolded woman statue.
The boy looks towards the shrine. "I guess that's the only thing I can do." He began to make his way over until he was close enough to the statue. The statue has an hourglass figure with her right hand raised towards the sky, while her left hand is perfectly cut at her elbow.
"Should I?" The boy is perplexed about what to do. He seems to just want to check out the memories, but doesn't actually want to do any ritual. Because...
"What if this thing summons some kind of demon and demands my soul? Actually, that sounds very cool... Oh wait. NO! I mean, I'm not sure what is happening to me right now, but my first instinct is to commit a ritual? Where's my survival instinct right now?!?"
The boy is in a dilemma because both his curiosity and instinct are telling him to do the ritual more than anything else. In normal circumstances, people without memories like the boy would either panic or do anything else. But ever since recovering that memory, he was pulled towards the shrine.
"Wouldn't this hurt?" The boy reasoned. However, the more he resists, the harder it is not to follow his instinct.
In the end, after moving around during his inner struggles, he tripped on a rock, and his head slammed into the ground.
"OUCH! Man, I am already struggling as is." He started bleeding from a small cut on his head ... which dropped down the magic circle.
"Oh shi-" A warmth yet insidious feeling envelops the boy. The feeling is comfortable but it felt like his body lays bare against something ethereal.
And then a voice with a nostalgic tone whispered into his ear
[Welcome Back]
Then something appeared inside his mind.
[Name:???]
[Age: 16]
[Legacy: The Forgotten, Soul Millennium, Commandments]
[Description: ???]
"Huh..." The boy takes a moment to process this information. "Why don't I have a name? I was hoping to find out."
The boy inspects the words. He has a feeling that this is something only he is seeing because the word seems ... like an illusion? It's more accurate that he felt the word rather than reading the words. Besides the name and age, he doesn't really understand anything else. He couldn't do anything with it. Until he began focusing on the words...
[The Forgotten: Your chain has been forever broken.]
"... My chain?"
The boy then looked at himself. He was wearing a dark blue t-shirt that looked a little roughed up, along with black shorts. He was quite short, around 5ft, with black hair and dark blue eyes. He looks back at the stairs he woke up on.
"There is no chain as far as I can see... Is it a metaphor? Ughh... so confusing."
He then tries the same thing for his other legacy.
[Soul Millennium: Your soul has aged]
"My soul is aged? Are you calling me old, you demon...god?... I'm just gonna call you Thingy. Wait, but I am 16 years old, how is my soul, Millennium..uh... a thousand years old? Or is there a different meaning?"
After scrutinizing Thingy for a minute, he began to move towards his last legacy.
[Commandment: You remember your oath]
"Oath? What oath did I make? I don't remember anything else except myself doing this weird ritual..."
Eventually, there wasn't anything the boy could do about it.
Instead, He looked away from the words and began walking down the stairs. He wanted to go down the mountain. As he is walking, he looks towards the sky. The sky showed a hint of orange and was quite a beautiful sight. However...
"Why the hell are there two suns?" He contemplated for a while but then gave up. Everything is already confusing as is. He knows nothing of himself. He offered blood to a random demoness - or goddess?- and he is now looking at a sky filled with 2 suns.
He doesn't know anything about the predicament, but he was relatively calm. Well, at least on the outside...
'WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO, WHAT IF THAT RITUAL GAVE AWAY MY SOUL?!?! IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY MIND?! FUCKING HELL WAS I PART OF SOME EXPERIMENT? WHY THE HELL WOULD I BE CHAINED?!? WHAT...'
The boy didn't show any of these thoughts on his face. From an outside perspective, it just looks like he's taking a stroll. It looks like it will take a while for him to reach the bottom of the mountain. Now, why would he does he want to go down the mountain?
"grgggg" The boy looked down and frowned at his stomach.
"...I'm so hungry"
