The screen on his phone showed the gacha interface from Honkai: Star Rail.
But the character that flashed up wasn't the main featured one from the current crossover banner; instead, it was that one, the Herrscher of Reason, Welt Yang.
"Ugh~ My luck really is trash. I only started playing because a friend said there's a character who looks a lot like me." Dan Feng closed the gacha screen and decisively quit the game.
When his gaze focused on the opposite side of the road, a child who looked only six or seven years old suddenly dashed out.
At that moment, the traffic light had already turned green for vehicles, and a large truck was slowly approaching from the lane.
Dan Feng was certain the truck driver absolutely hadn't seen the child, because this was a blind spot death zone—for a truck, there was no way to react in time.
So Dan Feng gripped his phone tightly and quickly ran toward the child.

"Is this heaven? Did I get sent to heaven because I saved a kid?" Dan Feng just stared blankly at the leaves, spacing out—not because he didn't want to get up, but because his body simply wouldn't move.
As soon as he thought that, it was like his body suddenly granted him permission; he could feel it moving again.
Dan Feng slowly sat up from the ground and realized he was right in the middle of a forest.
"Weird, this doesn't look like heaven at all. Could it be I didn't die?" Dan Feng muttered to himself, then stood up.
Only after standing did he notice some changes in his body.
Especially his eyes—his originally slightly nearsighted vision now let him see everything around him clearly without glasses.
And his height—he felt shorter, though he wasn't sure if it was just his imagination.
"Hiss, no way. Getting hit by a car shouldn't fix nearsightedness, right? Could I have actually transmigrated like in those novels?" Dan Feng grew more and more puzzled, so he decided to look around first for any signs of modern civilization.
After wandering around the area, he finally confirmed it: he had transmigrated.
Because during his exploration, he discovered some unbelievable things.
Namely, a huge blue bird that looked a lot like a lizard.

Soon, Dan Feng found a path. It was just a road, which meant the end of it should lead to somewhere humans lived.
So Dan Feng kept walking and walking, as if the road had no end.
Time passed minute by minute, but his footsteps never stopped.
Suddenly, he felt a slight tremor in the ground beneath his feet, causing him to halt.
"The ground is shaking?" Dan Feng looked around suspiciously, trying to find the source of the vibration.
However, the surrounding scenery showed nothing unusual—just a peaceful forest and distant mountains.
Just as he was puzzled, a rustling sound came from the distant trees as something pushed through the bushes, putting him on high alert.
Dan Feng's gaze was immediately drawn over, and he saw a massive, blood-covered lion charging out of the forest.
The lion's build was as enormous as an elephant, inspiring fear at a glance.
One of its hind legs was broken, and its body was covered in hideous wounds, with blood gushing nonstop from them.
"Holy shit!" Dan Feng was so scared his soul nearly left his body. His first reaction was to run for his life.
He bolted forward like his feet were greased, with only one thought in his mind: absolutely cannot let this lion spot me!
However, fate always loves to toy with people.
Even though Dan Feng was giving it everything he had, the injured lion still noticed him fleeing.
The lion let out a furious roar that shook the ears, making the surrounding trees tremble.
Having just been attacked by a group of humans, the lion's hatred toward humans had already peaked.
It thought to itself: "I couldn't beat that group of humans, but can I not beat one single human?"
So it unhesitatingly chased after Dan Feng at lightning speed.
After feeling the even stronger tremors, Dan Feng glanced back.
That one look nearly scared his soul away.
"Holy shit! Don't chase me!" After shouting that, Dan Feng ran even harder. Thanks to the constant surge of adrenaline, he felt no fatigue at all.
Fortunately, the lion was heavily injured and missing a leg. When it accelerated, it kept stumbling due to unfamiliarity and pain, but even so, its speed was still comparable to Dan Feng's.
After running for a while, the lion's stamina began dropping rapidly from excessive blood loss.
Dan Feng also started feeling that the branch in his hand was slowing him down, so he decided to throw it away.
He glanced back at the lion and saw its speed had decreased a lot—this was a perfect chance to ditch the branch.
Dan Feng stopped instantly, gripped the branch tightly, and channeled all his strength into his right hand.
Then, a strange power seemed to envelop the branch. Immediately after, Dan Feng hurled the branch with his right hand like a javelin with all his might.
A sharp whoosh rang out as the branch flew toward the lion like a bullet, carrying a power Dan Feng had never seen before.
