'I wonder how long it has been so far...'
Floating in the Eternal darkness around him , Danny broke out of his mind blanking to check if anything had changed.
In this dark space , Danny had long since learned that trying to determine the passage of time was impossible.
At first when he had just appeared here , he tried to keep track of it all , seconds , minutes , hours and even days , but it isn't until a month passed in his count that Danny gave up.
The darkness wasn't in anyway dangerous or even painfall , it was simply there.
He couldn't feel much and it didn't even feel heavy , solid , liquid or oppressive. The only reason he was actually still sane was that Riley had managed to learn how to make his mind dormant.
If he remembered correctly , the psychological term was mind blanking.
Infact none of this bothered him much because Danny was never one to associate with other people or even do much of anything at all. As far as shut ins and introverts go , he liked to think of himself as the absolute peak.
No friends , no girlfriend , not much of a life and a job that didn't require him to ever leave home and his computer. Along with that , his days were filled with anime , manga , Novels and any entertainment that didn't require more than a screen tap.
It wasn't even a matter of choice for him , he just didn't really have any desire to go beyond that and wasn't interested in the useless chaos of the outside world.
To Danny , the normal world was a mix of chaos , constant struggles and pointless rules.
Infact , this unending darkness was probably more preferable than ordinary life.
Most times , Danny would just blank out going completely dormant but once in a while he woke himself up from the stupor just to think abit and maybe pass the time imagining.
This time though , something different happened.
Just as Danny was about to go dormant again and blank out , a very faint pinging sounded in his mind.

Danny's mind first went blank for a couple of seconds , this time in surprise and shock , then he excitedly focused his mind on opening the system functions.
His experience with management , anime and even fanfics made all this easy to grasp for Danny. With a thought, the transluscent purple screen screen infront of Riley expanded.
The system was organized in segments each of which showed a specific function.

The system was easy enough to understand which brought Danny to his next question of why it had suddenly opened now and where it came from.
Though he wasn't expecting answers , Danny was surprised when another screen opened over all the others with a reply.
(The system has just completed fusing with the host's soul and it originates from an interdimmension being in a higher dimension but.
Host is currently in an Abyss within the void between universes which is where the system had been lost.)
After some thought , Danny realized that it was probably true since this didn't seem normal. Te only strange part was how he reached here and survived since usually places like this , according to novels and stuff he used to read , were dangerous.
(The system attached to host immediately your soul was sent to the void to be destroyed. Due to this , the host's soul was protected from being erased.
Host's soul signature also allowed the system to randomize coordinates and connect to a universe thus allowing escape from the void.)
'Well thanks then , so from what I've gathered I'm dead. If i'm going to another world , will I go as a soul or enter someone's body.'

Danny first calmed down and thought it through carefully since both options came with advantages and disadvantages.
He first verified some details and then made his desicion.
Based on the system's explanations , the body he designed or entered would be the foundation for his future look since the system would also connect to the body inorder to modify it based on the templates.
The good thing though , was that Danny was atleast guaranteed to enter the body of a significant individual in the Demon Slayer world.
'Ok , I've decided to enter a random person's body.'

Danny's consciousness slowly shut down as he read the system messages opening infront of him.
His last thought before finally slipping into the darkness of his mind was 'Great , now I have to deal with both demons and a fucking phsycho brother.'
Since there wasn't a point in regretting it , Danny just went with it and on waking up first scanned his surroundings.
'Trees...where the hell am I this time.'
(Host is currently in the Final selection grounds of the Demon slayer corps.)

"What the...!!!!!!!" Danny's hand shot up and covered his mouth before he quickly scanned his surroundings in terror.
'You know what fuck you system.... fuck you and all your fucking functions.....'
If Danny could touch the system , he was sure he would have strangled it in anger.
Luckily he could communicate with it through his mind so he could hide and spew profanities at the same time.
When Danny confirmed that nothing was near him and he was safe for now , he opened the template segment of the system getting hit by another surprise.

This time a smile lit up Danny's face and he almost cheered.
Though honestly the regeneration of Ghouls wasn't as good as demons , there was the Kakuja and Kagune which gave a serious advantage. And there was the fact that he was going to combine all these into himself.
'Maybe this isn't so bad after all.....but I need exp.'

Along with the system screen came the unmistakable sound of a twig snapping a few feet from Danny's location.
His new body's training and senses immediately kicked in and Danny's crouch shifted from hiding to battle ready.
Danny drew the sword strapped to his hip with a surprisingly smooth and silent motion while facing the direction where the sound came from.
'I might complete that mission earlier than expected.'
