Sunlight shimmered across the sea as a cool breeze stirred sprays of white foam. It was a picturesque scene, but Alvin had no mind to appreciate it. He lay heavily injured on a crude wooden bed while a woman carefully treated his wounds.
Sensing movement, Alvin suddenly opened his eyes, his body tensing on instinct.
"Who's there?" He forced himself upright, scanning his surroundings with vigilance.
His body was wrapped in bandages, medicinal ointment cooling the cuts and burns across his skin.
"You're awake?" the woman asked calmly, though a faint trace of surprise flickered in her eyes.
Only then did Alvin see her face clearly. His pupils contracted sharply.
"Nico Robin!!!" he blurted out.
"So you know me. That saves me the trouble of introducing myself," Robin said with a slight smile. Then her tone cooled. "Since you're awake, you should leave as soon as possible."
Alvin was momentarily stunned.
It was not her bluntness that caught him off guard, but the subtle self mockery and faint unease hidden in her gaze.
"Did you save me?" he asked, slowly sitting up.
"Obviously," Robin replied. "Don't overthink it. I simply did not want you dying on the beach. How did you end up so severely injured?"
Alvin hesitated and chose silence.
"No need to answer. I was only curious." She did not press him further. "But you must leave soon. This place is not safe."
"Thank you, Nico Robin. I will repay this debt in the future." His voice was firm and sincere.
"There's no need. People who get close to me usually meet with misfortune. It would be better if we never see each other again."
Alvin looked at her for a long moment before turning toward the window. "Where exactly am I?"
"Iceberg Bay, Kingdom of Asriel. A country controlled by the underworld," Robin replied flatly.
Alvin nodded. So the shipwreck had carried him here. Surviving truly was a stroke of luck.
Robin showed no intention of continuing the conversation. She had not even asked his name. Alvin offered a quiet word of thanks before stepping out of her home.
Outside, he realized he was in a slum district. He glanced back at Robin's small wooden house, memorizing its location. One day, he would repay her.
Without lingering, he headed toward the distant forest. Though his injuries were gradually recovering, he remained cautious.
In this world, danger was everywhere.
From the doorway, Robin watched his departing figure. A complicated emotion flickered in her eyes.
She had not expected the boy, so gravely wounded, to recover enough to walk so quickly. He was still young. Perhaps in the future, he might grow strong enough to help her.
Alvin shook off several pursuers and made his way into the dense forest east of the slums. After confirming no one was following him, he slipped into a secluded cave.
"Finally," he exhaled softly, then called out in his mind, System.
At once, a translucent blue interface appeared before him, visible only to his eyes. It displayed his current status.

Seeing the panel, Alvin's heart pounded with excitement. With this system, he finally had a foundation to survive in this world.
It was a bounty allocation system. By killing wanted criminals, he could earn Bounty Points. Those points could then be invested into Physique, Martial Arts, Swordsmanship, Haki, or Devil Fruit mastery.
Images surfaced in his mind. The Seven Warlords of the Sea. The Fleet Admiral and the Admirals. Whitebeard. Kaido. Big Mom. Shanks.
If he could defeat them one day…
Alvin forced himself to calm down.
At present, he was nothing. He was weaker than even Higuma the mountain bandit, let alone those legendary figures.
Still, Alvin was a transmigrator. From the moment he was born, he had known this was the world of Devil Fruits and monsters. The world of One Piece.
His own life, however, had been miserable.
His father was a gangster who was rarely home. His mother disappeared when he was one year old, abandoning him and his grandmother. When he was five, his father died in a gang shootout, leaving his grandmother to raise him by washing dishes for a living.
At eight, Alvin's body began growing at an abnormal rate. He took on part time jobs to help support the family. This continued until he turned fifteen. A month ago, stray bullets during a gang conflict killed his grandmother.
To avenge her, Alvin joined the chaos and killed the man responsible. Unfortunately, he was seen by another gang member and became a target of pursuit.
Three days ago, he hid aboard a merchant ship in order to escape.
Pirates attacked at sea. The ship was set ablaze, its passengers captured. Alvin was severely injured during the assault.
While the pirates were counting their spoils, a Marine warship appeared. A fierce battle broke out. The pirates were defeated. Taking advantage of the confusion, Alvin freed himself and killed the already dying pirate captain.
At that exact moment, his system awakened.
Before he had time to examine it properly, Marine artillery fire struck the pirate vessel. The explosion blasted him into the sea, and he drifted unconscious until he washed ashore in Asriel, where Nico Robin discovered him.
Now, he finally possessed the means to change his fate.
Alvin drew in a deep breath. Determination burned in his eyes.
"From today onward, I will grow stronger. Strong enough to take control of my own destiny."
