Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Poké Ball

Outside the Pokémon Center—

Minato and Eevee walked out.

After half a day of running around, it was finally done.

Minato currently held a red and white Poké Ball in his hand.

This was what he bought after activating his Trainer ID. Like Pokémon, Poké Ball purchases were also regulated. Although the price wasn't expensive, the quantity that could be bought was limited.

Just like the limit on how many Pokémon each person could hold.

Of course, where there was light, there were shadows. Black markets and smuggling existed, but they violated the law. When discovered, they were shut down immediately.

The information of this Poké Ball was already bound to Eevee. It could be considered little Eevee's "new home." Later, during security checks on subways or airplanes, security personnel only needed to scan the Poké Ball to connect to the Pokémon Center network and identify whether any criminals were entering.

Although he had finished the important matters, Minato was somewhat disappointed.

"What a pity, it seems only ordinary Poké Balls are available on the market," Minato said despairingly, looking at Eevee.

"Eevee..." Eevee also listless.

Eevee's mentality was that, although it didn't know why, it should be listless, since the Trainer was unhappy, it should follow along and be unhappy too.

Minato sadly put away the Poké Ball. Don't forget, Eevee's evolution branches Espeon and Umbreon required Friendship evolution, and the type of Poké Ball was one effective way to increase Friendship.

In the games and anime, there were two types of Poké Balls.

Friend Ball, which made caught Pokémon immediately become close to the Trainer, reflected in a numerical value.

Luxury Ball, where the interior was very comfortable, making caught Pokémon more likely to become close to the Trainer, reflected in the efficiency of Friendship gain.

Both Poké Balls were miraculous and what Minato wanted to use for Eevee.

But unfortunately, they didn't seem to have been discovered in this world, or perhaps they had been researched but weren't being sold.

Poké Balls could be said to be very miraculous items. They could change size—large enough to fit in one's palm for easy handling, shrinking to the size of a table tennis ball for easy carrying. The main function was that they allowed Pokémon larger than humans to enter easily. It was precisely because of them that Trainers could develop.

"Forget it, Eevee, let's go." Minato struggled for a while, then said helplessly. There would be opportunities in the future.

Ordinary people might not know what Poké Balls were made of, but Minato knew. Poké Balls were merely made from different colored Apricorns or mixed metals. Poké Balls made from different colored Apricorns had different effects, and those made from mixed metals also had many functions. The most common Poké Ball was the red and white one in his hand, the most basic type.

If Minato remembered correctly, the core material for making Friend Balls was the Green Apricorn.

As for Luxury Balls, he wasn't clear. He hadn't paid attention.

And regarding the materials for other effect Poké Balls, he also knew a bit.

Moreover, Berries and Apricorns, although originally only produced in Special Zones, were now being cultivated in large quantities for profit. The possibility of Minato finding a good deal was high.

"It's just not easy to explain. I don't know the other manufacturing processes for Poké Balls either. If only I could cooperate with someone trustworthy... What a hassle..." Minato discovered that much of what he knew was restricted and couldn't be converted into resources to strengthen himself. The cultural differences between the two worlds were too great. These advantages might only be usable after he achieved a certain status.

"Don't worry, I'll get you a more comfortable Poké Ball sooner or later," Minato said while walking, rubbing Eevee's head.

Next, Minato planned to take it for a walk.

Many new Trainers didn't let their Pokémon immediately start training or battling after hatching. Minato was no exception. Training, battling... he felt these should wait until after the newborn stage, when the Pokémon's physical functions were almost fully developed.

Although Minato didn't plan to have Eevee start training or battling in the near future, this didn't prevent him from watching others battle.

Before they knew it, the two arrived at Heiwa City's Public Battle Plaza.

Minato stood in the front row of the spectator seats near a battle field. He didn't sbattlefieldleaned on the railing, watching with great interest. Meanwhile, Eevee also widened its eyes, very curious.

Because the registration for new Trainer status had just ended, many new Trainers were gathered here. Some were even already battling.

These battles, although clumsy, were very capable of touching the hearts of newcomers, causing them to throw themselves into it one after another.

Minato was a Trainer now. Showing his Trainer ID allowed him to enter and watch battles for free. If he weren't a Trainer, he would need to pay an entrance fee.

However, if Minato wanted to battle, he would have to pay—to rent the battlefield.

Public battles are prohibited within city limits. Trainers wishing to spar may only do so at publicly accessible battle arenas and battle clubs certified by the Trainer Association. Those engaging in battles on the street or allowing Pokémon to unleash moves without valid reason will face penalties. In severe cases, the trainer's license may be revoked.

Of course, one couldn't battle casually in the wild either. Every battle between Trainers had to be registered with a Trainer ID. Therefore, most battles took place in formal venues. These laws were perfected later. Although cumbersome, they made society more stable.

"Eevee~"

On the field, after a Bellsprout defeated a Nidoran, Eevee instantly showed a joyful expression, as if it had won itself.

Uh... Eevee is interested in battles?

"Do you like it?"

Minato rubbed Eevee's forehead again. He liked this action—not only did he enjoy it, but Eevee was also comfortable.

"Eevee~~" Eevee nodded, but then showed a distressed expression, knowing that if it went into battle, it would probably be a different situation.

"It seems I was overthinking. You're quite clever," Minato smiled wryly.

"It's fine. When you grow a bit older, I'll design a detailed special training plan for you. Then, we'll defeat everyone."

"Eevee~" Eevee nodded expectantly this time, then continued watching the battle field.

Minato look battlefieldy, then also started watching. He would probably spend the afternoon here.

However, he couldn't compliment the skill level of these new Trainers.

They didn't even know how to say "Dodge quickly!" "I believe in you!" "Don't give up!" "Stand up!" "Hold on!"

These commands were all divine techniques...

Minato smiled inwardly. Of course, these commands also had to be based on the Pokémon's own qualities and the bond between Pokémon and Trainer.

As he watched, Minato began thinking about how to design a special training plan for Eevee...

Since he was capable of designing a breeding plan for Grass-type Pokémon, there was no reason to be stumped by a training plan.
