Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Chat Groups Bring You Joy

Food was something Minato had temporarily considered enough.

He also knew his recent spending had been a bit high, but the newborn stage was extremely important for a Pokémon. Nutrition had to keep up.

Only then could Eevee grow strong.

Minato dawdled for a while. After putting down the recipe, he took out his summer homework.

"Five Years of Exams, Three Years of Simulations."

Don't think that just because he was a Trainer now, he didn't have to do homework.

The university entrance exams still required Chinese, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. It was just that on top of this, elite high school students had an additional written exam on Pokémon knowledge and a battle exam.

Not all Trainers could sail smoothly through life, supporting themselves through Pokémon battles.

Most people didn't have a talent for battling. For such people, the financial burden of this identity was actually a drag. They would basically transition to other careers after graduating from university.

However, the Trainer identity also had its own unique advantages, stemming from the Trainer's Pokémon partner.

Acrobats... magicians... workers... reporters... actors... nurses... doctors... researchers... firefighters, and so on. This advantage applied to various fields.

Just imagine, if a fire broke out somewhere, would it be faster to extinguish it with various fire suppressants or with the abilities of a Water-type Pokémon?

Most importantly, a qualified firefighter with a Water-type Pokémon could, to some extent, directly enter the fire scene to save victims as quickly as possible.

During the rescue process, moves like Sand Attack or Flash Fire could also be used. Or another example...

Doctors, the kind that treat people. If they had a Pokémon partner that could use Hypnosis or precisely utilize Psychic powers, they could undoubtedly better counsel patients or perform surgeries more perfectly.

These people still needed to use knowledge in physics, chemistry, biology, and even mathematics.

Although Minato wanted to become a more "pure" Trainer, he understood that these subjects were inescapable.

Even though the country had implemented many policies favoring Trainers in recent years, there was no reason to abandon traditional subjects. Talent in other areas was equally important.

However, what made Minato relatively happy was that regarding the written exam on Pokémon knowledge, he felt he could score high without much studying.

It was much simpler than the Breeder exam questions.

Identify the Pokémon from the picture.

Match moves with Pokémon.

Recite type matchups.

And some analysis questions on laws regarding Trainers and Pokémon.

If he couldn't score high on these questions, he might as well bash his head against a wall.

...

By noon, since Eevee was still sleeping, Minato ordered takeout for himself.

He didn't rush to tell his parents, who were at work, about Eevee's birth. He planned to surprise them in the evening.

But the silly Minato forgot that he had them as friends on social media. When he posted a screenshot of the sleeping Eevee to his Moments, he was already discovered.

Father: "Hatched? Did you feed it?"

Reply to Father: "Fed, fed."

Mother: "As cute as you were when you were little. It feels like raising another son."

Reply to Mother: "???"

I'll take that as a compliment.

But, little Eevee seems to be female.

At the same time, the Class 12 group chat was exceptionally lively. Or rather, the messages hadn't stopped since yesterday.

Whenever a classmate's Pokémon egg hatched, a group of people would pop up and chat idly for half a day.

So, not long after Minato finished eating and posted a photo of Eevee, the group exploded.

Someone said: "Holy crap, this is too cute. I hope my Mankey can be this cute too."

"Stop dreaming. Don't you have any idea how fierce Mankey looks?"

"I don't like hearing that. When my Mankey hatches, let's PK."

"Sure, my Poliwag isn't afraid of your Mankey..."

These goofballs... Chat groups bring you joy.

Minato lurked for a while longer until many people @ mentioned him before reluctantly popping up.

"Alright, I know my Eevee is very cute. No need to be too envious. When school starts, I can let you guys hold Eevee, but girls only."

After typing and sending!

The next moment, the group went silent.

Then "Shameless" and "Shameless" filled the screen.

But there were other words too.

Hayashi Sei: "Really? It's a deal."

Yukino: "Awesome."

Kano: "Cool."

Takeshi: "Looking forward to it."

Yukino: "Damn, Takeshi, what are you looking forward to as a guy?"

The group chatted about the little Eevee for about an hour before moving on to other topics.

The class monitor suddenly said: "Has everyone downloaded the Pokédex APP?"

"Mine keeps crashing. Garbage XX."

The Pokédex APP was a mobile software. By scanning a Pokémon with the app's camera, one could obtain partial data on the Pokémon. It was a must-have cheat tool for new Trainers.

Huh...

If the class monitor hadn't mentioned it, Minato would have almost forgotten about this thing. Although he felt he probably wouldn't need it.

"You're so quick to blame your phone instead of the software. Looks like you've been unhappy with it for a while..." Minato typed a line, then added: "When Eevee wakes up, I'll take it to the Pokémon Center to activate my Trainer ID. The APP seems to require the Trainer ID to be activated before logging in, right?"

"Right... Whoa, never mind, my phone is so hot. I'm going to look for a new phone."

Minato: "..."

"Go ahead." Minato replied speechlessly.

Suddenly...

At this moment, Minato seemed to hear a strange sound. Following the sound, Minato turned to look. It turned out that the little Eevee lying on the bed was about to wake up.

Currently, it had already opened its eyes groggily, but it didn't seem fully awake yet. It kept rolling around on the bed. During the rolling, it directly unrolled the entire Silk Scarf.

"Eevee..."

The little Eevee still didn't seem to understand what was happening until it felt like something was missing from its body. Then it suddenly woke up and jumped up in confusion, looking around: Σ(°△°---)︴

Click...

Minato snapped a photo of this moment at high speed.

"Eevee!"

The sound of the phone camera also served as a cue for Eevee, allowing it to accurately locate Minato's position. Seeing Minato, the little Eevee joyfully ran over without a word and jumped into Minato's arms.

"How was your sleep?" Minato tapped the little Eevee's forehead with his finger.

My silly and adorable little Eevee...

"Eevee Eevee~" Eevee nodded energetically.

Then...

Its stomach growled.

Minato smiled. As expected of a newborn Pokémon, it digested really fast. After all, after drinking a bottle of Miltank milk, his own stomach had been full for a long time.

"Climb up here." Minato pointed to his shoulder. "I'll prepare milk for you. After drinking, I'll take you out for a walk."

The little Eevee was very obedient and obediently climbed onto Minato's shoulder. The posture was similar to Ash and Pikachu in the anime.

Feeling the warmth on his neck, Minato made an "Mm" sound.

Quite comfortable...

Not as tiring as imagined.

Thus, Minato decided that unless necessary, he planned to keep Eevee by his side instead of putting it in a Poké Ball.

"Ah, almost forgot... After activating the Trainer ID later, I still need to buy a Poké Ball for Eevee."

Minato suddenly remembered that after activating the Trainer ID, he could legally purchase Poké Balls. And after buying the Poké Ball, he still needed to bind the Poké Ball's information with Eevee at the Pokémon Center.

Binding with Minato's Trainer ID and binding with the Poké Ball information was equivalent to little Eevee's ID card.
