The impact of my body against the concrete floor sent shockwaves through my bones.
Through half-closed eyes, I watched the elderly man straighten his posture with ease. The entire charade of his mobility issues crumbled before me like a house of cards. His supposed inability to walk had been nothing more than an elaborate performance, one he abandoned the moment he detected my arrival.
I should have recognized the signs. A man who possessed such extensive knowledge about werewolves, someone who had dedicated his entire existence to studying our kind, would naturally sense the anomaly within me.
If only I had understood the true depths of madness that plagued werewolf territory.
