Back on base
Everyone has begun settling back down, and school has started back up for the groups that have returned, but many of them have changed.
Quinn quickly noticed that the levels he was actually at had reverted to an ability-level system the old watches used. But his ability level was higher than he was expecting. He was now a level 8 ability user. Would make any sense; it wasn't detecting his ability to be that high before. Has this ability really gone up that much? And all this creature grinding caused this much of a difference, he thought to himself.
Peter noticed it as well.
Peter. Guys, is it me, or have our abilities gotten stronger? And since when has that been possible? We haven't even learned any new ability books or anything. So how have our abilities gotten stronger? This doesn't make any sense.
Vincent. Well, as you guys enjoy your new powers and your new responsibilities on the base, the other leaders and I are going to have to go around and hold a meeting. You have preparations, and sadly enough, you can't come; neither can your friends. So you'll have to stay out of this one.
Quinn: Is this about the tournament? What's coming up here soon? I know we're not too far away from that starting up.
Vincent: Oh yes, the tournament. There's quite a bit going on. Oh yes, be prepared. Some of you are going to compete. So there is a competition that I know for sure, Quinn, that you need to be part of; it's called Block Block. Get some time to get familiar with the game; you might enjoy it.
Some time later, at the vampire settlement in the king's castle, there in the meeting room where all the faction leaders with their Generals standing by, many of them were vampire knights. Now renamed Generals to be consistent with the humans.
Has everyone settled down in their seats? The doors to the king's chambers open and out, and they are walking through was the Vice President and First Lady, with the President himself walking through, settling down.
I, the President, will bring this meeting to order.
The President: Alright, then what are our agendas for today?
The Vice President steps forward: the discussion of the tournament rule structure and the necessary format for everything, a nd any restrictions or requirements. Also, the discussion of the recent events with the familiar world, the progression of the newest generation of leaders. And a possible summer schooling event or all the vampire and subclass-related.
The President: Cash, would you please read out the report that has been gathered from the leaders who were there? And if we need to open this up for further discussion
Kazz: As such, the familiar world went well for the situation; over 90% of the students received familiars. But the dimensional terror managed to cause quite a bit of havoc, but it was contained fast enough before it caused real problems, and we were able to safely migrate all the students out of the familiar world and off the planet as quickly as possible. No serious damage to the dimensional doorway; the familiar world has been stabilized, and any residual damage has been repaired. So far, everything has been brought back to a functioning order, a nd no further problems have occurred on the planet or in the familiar world itself. Whatever dimensions are trying to breach through or rip apart, we are still unsure where the source is.
The President: Alright, then that sounds like everything you can do. Go ahead and sit down. Vincent, can you please give a report on what happened with your group and this other mission? Also, I would like to know what happened during the second outing.
Vincent: The special mission in question was to establish a base on a planet for Minx. Oh, so there are plenty of signs. The Fay were on that planet; there's even an old Colony of theirs there, so they were here, but it appears that the mother of the child perished during a major attack, with no signs that it was caused by an outside source. Even an enemy of theirs is still under investigation: exactly what caused the destruction of the outpost. There was also a dimensional break on the planet, but it wasn't too bad. And we managed to get most of it under control. We did have 2 individuals who were from a different universe altogether who broke through. Ray was there immediately to take care of any issues with it and helped out with cleaning up any other lingering side effects of the dimensional break. So far, the 2 individuals are traveling with me and are currently being monitored. But so far, they are not threats to our universe and are helping us out in ways we weren't expecting.
The President. Well, that's not what I was expecting to happen. Can somebody explain why we had such a high death toll from the second outing?
Kazz: I do apologize. It appears that most of my own class were refusing to cooperate, and we're very foolishly trying to do far more than what they were capable of, so I lost a lot of students in my own class. I take full responsibility for this failure.
The President waved his hand dismissively.
The President. That's not as concerning as I was hoping if they were too busy with their power and, foolishly enough, tried to engage in an attack on their own and refused to cooperate with you. Then we can just write off most of your own class as casualties of stupidity.
Silver raised her hand.
The President nodded his head. Go ahead.
Silver stood up and cleared her throat for a second.
Silver: So far, most of the students who perished in my class, who died in combat, were just getting too hot-headed and managed to break out of the line and try to engage a bunch of the creatures head-on by themselves. I was able to minimize any more casualties as much as possible, mucklein'. I had a strong student. And he managed to do quite a bit of work with his summons.
The President: Alright. Then now I have been made aware of how much progress a lot of them have made so far. A lot of them are quite strong now, and Quinn is just about ready to come and join us, so I'm guessing they are now finally going to take over. Are they going to be taking the role of new leadership? Or are you just going to keep them standing by
Vincent. Stand up, Mr. President. I plan on handing my position over to my descendant.
Silver raised her hand. I do not plan on stepping down for the time being until the right time. I'm not at the peak yet, so I'm just waiting.
Kazz raised her hand. I also am not going to be stepping down, and I'm waiting to reach my peak as well.
The President: Thank you for informing us here about your descendants. I understand that time is relative for a lot of us vampires, but making these decisions is necessary, and I'm sorry to say the loss of people is not something I appreciate, but I understand that you've all agreed to such harsh training for the students; it's not something I am totally comfortable with. But the council has all agreed to such things. But now we need to discuss the tournament. What do the human factions feel about the vampires and werewolf students taking part in such tournaments? They do have quite a bit of a strength difference.
Burnie: I don't see any issues with that. I can trust every single one of my faction to be able to take on the students of any of the vampire families, let alone the werewolves. We are more than capable of proving our strength, and we have plenty of injured techniques to make ourselves more capable than ever before. So we are not afraid of your biological advantage, you have.
Mona: I trust my faction members to be strong enough to compete.
Owen: I believe that the ancient techniques that we have been passing down through the generations in our faction are more than capable of taking on the vampires, just like they have learned over the years. We still keep many of our ancient books from The Times when magic was present for everyone; we know that magic is no longer available to humans. Because the very arts have been blocked off and no longer work, but at least some of the body-enhancing techniques from those times that many of the knights were learning, we were able to recover. I know it was before the vampire's time about such things, but at least it will make sense.
All the rest of the human leaders shook their heads in agreement.
Vadeen Muscat: The arrogance of you humans is absolutely ridiculous. You're just as foolish as these werewolves, and you think you can take us on foolishness, but fine, I will be willing to agree. To allow some of my students from my faction to join, to see if the vampires can just all love you?
Gary: The arrogance of the sixth family in full display. I see you guys still haven't changed over the years; you still think you were the most superior vampires in the world, and yet you guys cause the most trouble and tend to be the inferior ones after all.
Burnie: Now, now, let's not poke his ego. I'm sure that we can easily teach him a lesson. Many of my students are fully prepared to take on your vampires; we're not going to lie down and take a beating from any of your students. We'll show you the might of the Sun Shields.
The President: I will explain the last agenda for those meeting the summer cap of for the vampires…
The President: Alright, then, does this solve all the issues for the time being?
As the President looks around the room.
The President: Alright, then, since there is no other issue to deal with this time, I hereby conclude this meeting until the next time, and hopefully the tournament will be wonderful. Don't disappoint me, Earth-born.
As a President glares towards Oscar's way.
Oscar Visibly shrinks under his look and glare.
Back on base
Shizuka returns to her room as she closes her door and begins walking to her bed. Static interference began a hologram of her mother appeared.
Reiju: There you are. I've been wanting to talk to you. Privately, away from everyone, including your little brother. So, young lady, what have you been up to?
She began staring at her with menacing eyes.
Shizuka: "Uh... well, you see...uh...the world has changed a lot since you died! You can't judge me by the standards of the world as it was when you left! The world is freaking nuts now! So I had to become just as crazy to protect Tsu-Tsu! Besides, you know I was always a troubled kid! Also, you left us when I was a freaking teenager, and Tsu-Tsu was 10! There was nobody to teach me right from wrong anymore!"
As everything begins settling down, trouble is brewing at the school, and the tournament is only days away. A secret meeting of students from the sixth and fourth family or meeting on the roof.
Looks like we picked a good spot. I'll see anymore trouble or guards patrolling over here. Is everything set up on your end?
Yes, ready to go. Several of their students are here at the school, especially that punisher boy. We're going to make them pay for their arrogance, especially the Sun Shields. Our family won't be degraded by these humans.
Yes, our family agrees to that as well. We'll show them the might of the sixth family and why they should fear us vampires; we won't be underestimated by any human ever again.
