Chapter 7 - Ep.7 Hollow's Edge

[(A.N) I am just briefly explaining the ranking system for future chapters. Wild beasts are ranked as Stars like a 3 Star Ranked Orc General, the higher the number means the stronger it is. Where as Adventurers and humans are ranked by letters such as the common ranking from F-Rank to S-Rank and finally National Rank.(Enjoy)]

Only a day had passed since Margaret learned of Myaki's name and yet so much had happened while Myaki himself continued to receive treatment from Damon and a few others Alchemist's.

First was the public execution of Guild Master Toma Hawken for his crimes of treason and embezzlement. Not only was he filling his own pockets from the royal treasury that funded the adventurers guild.

But he was also discovered supplying other kingdoms with intelligence on Tuonku ranging from its adventurers to high priority quests given from noble houses.

His temporary replacement was Prince Dotcanu who had at his back his own small group to manage the guilds affairs while uncovering who was apart of Toma Hawken's crimes and those who weren't.

And unlike his sister and older brothers he was a book keeper and a researcher by heart which allowed him to read in-between the lines.

Next were the adventurers who had been cruel to Myaki which was almost all of them, the ones unaffected were the ones who kept to themselves. The punishment was given from Aria herself which was to lower the rank of everyone by 1 stage and forbid them from accepting new quests for a month.

At first Hector thought it was unfair as he knew that to ban an adventurer from accepting quests for even a week would make them have to choose another carrier.

Not to mention the demotion of everyone's rank as it was by no means easy to rank up in the guild.

But Aria thought such a punishment was reasonable.

"The adventurers guild is supposed to treat everyone equally. This will remind them that everyone is the same no matter who they are." Aria said with pride.

Obviously there were boundaries to Aria's statement, like if a mass murderer tried to say he was equal to a porter. Aria was young but she wasn't stupid.

But she was unaware of Myaki's name as appart of probably the most vicious clan on the continent.

Only Hector and Margaret knew as they had agreed to keep it a secret until the Royal family meeting.

But Myaki felt the change as guard patrols became more frequent as well as the maids visits.

It was a hardly noticeable change as the guards changed shifts every 3 hours while a maids checked on Myaki every 2 hours which was less then half the time it took before.

It was the logical response given Myaki's name.

Damon was also forgiven by Aria after much persuasion from Damon and Kentola.

She had heard a maid start gossiping about Damon giving Myaki a paralyzing concoction.

If Kentola hadn't stopped Aria then Damon would have been subjected to his own various concoctions in his laboratory before being beheaded.

So Damon worked even harder to help Myaki recover and in a matter of hours Myaki went from looking like a starving child to a healthy teenager about to graduate.

His muscle tone increased while his body looked refined, like a general who had experienced hundreds of battles.

Not a single adventurer would have recognized Myaki and thought they simply had the same name.

He had become a new person by looks alone, his thoughts however remained firm.

'I need to stabilize my aura before the royal meeting incase I need to escape.' Myaki said.

He was strong but he couldn't use his aura as effectively as before. And if he were to fight the king or even Margaret then he wouldn't last a second.

But there was a chance if Myaki stabilized his aura. There was just one problem, he didn't know how to do that.

He didn't even know what aura was until a few hours ago from hearing it from Damon.

Myaki closed his eyes and slowed his breathing while clearing his mind as Damon had said aura was linked to emotions.

'Pathetic! Unworthy! A waste of life!'

'Who could ever love a horrendous creature like you? It's laughable that you thought I would love such a pitiful thing such as you.'

'You are a disgrace to the Druga Clan!'

'You will never be accepted and will be forever alone!'

The voices were like power kegs exploding in Myaki's eyes but Myaki ignored them all until the image of a girl with crimson hair appeared. She was about to speak before a arrow pierced her heart.

"No... it's not real... it's not real!" Myaki yelled while everything in the room was sliced into ribbons as a result of Myakis aura that was running wild.

Guards had heard the commotion and were about to barge into the room before Hector, their King, had appeared and stopped them.

"This is going to be a headache, I'll handle this. Call a few maids and an earth mage to assist with repairs." Hector said while a small amount of aura has manifested to shield him.

"Yes my king!"

"Yes my king!"

Word has spread in the castle among the maids and the guards of how strong Myaki truly was to be able to kill a 7th Star Wyrm beast.

So the 2 guards knew they could do little to help their King aside from what he asks.

After the two guards had left, Hector opened to door to see a room filled with only very expensive items in ruin.

It was as if a demon had been summoned in the room and then was killed by a party of adventurers with no regard for the room.

But Hector saw Myaki sitting on the floor with his arms wrapped around his knees.

He wasn't scared that Hector would ask for reparations for the damages, he looked devoid of all life and was left to be just a hollow shell of a human being.

Hector sat down on what used to be a luxury bed imported from another kingdom and let the silence between them grow.

"My two son's will arrive by tomorrow where they will be informed of you saving Aria and her knights. I will petition to reward you a house in the inner city and give you a A-Rank adventurers badge." Hector said to finally cut the silence.

Most houses in the inner-city walls costs tens of thousands of gold coins which was more then most A-Ranks or high class merchants make in years.

Myaki finally glanced at Hector and spoke.

"Have you ever considered... what I might want? I don't need a house or some fancy stuff like what others would want." Myaki said while some anger started to show in Myaki's eyes.

Hector had just realized that not one of them had ever considered to think of what Myaki wanted.

Margaret wanted to give Myaki a high ranking position in the royal army comparable to General Commander Edward Salken.

Aria wanted to make Myaki a Duke and give him a plot of lot near the capital.

Dotcanu thought of making Myaki a S-Rank adventurer with special privileges compared to other S-Ranks.

But none of them even thought about asking what Myaki wanted.

"Then... what do you want?" Hector asked hesitantly.

Myaki stood up and pointed out the window and at first Hector had thought Myaki wanted the capital. But then he looked past the city walls to the mountains called Hollow's Edge which were about 80 miles from the city.

It was once a mountain filled with rare ones to mine and resources to harvest but that was decades ago. Now you would be lucky to come across even a scrap of ore unless some stone masons needed more materials which were rare.

"Give me the rights to own Hollow's Edge. I won't claim independence or sovereignty. And should the need arrive then you will know where to find me." Myaki said.

Hector would be the only one gaining from this deal in anyone's opinion. But Myaki only wanted it to be left alone completely to live his life.

However Hector knew he couldn't give Hollow's Edge to Myaki. Not because of its value as there were little resources to dig up but because he knew Aria had developed feelings for Myaki.

Hector was worried that Aria might sneak out and try to go to Hollow's Edge if she knew Myaki was there all alone.

And Margaret's wards ended at Hollows Edge since there was no need to keep the monsters out since there was nothing valuable left to guard.

But then a question formed in Hector's mind as he had heard the rumors surrounding Myaki. Any tavern or shelter would have instantly refused boarding for Myaki which led Hector to ask himself something.

'Where has he been living all this time? Has he been sleeping in the wild all this time?' Hector asked himself.

In the capital of Tuonku there wasn't a single slum where the homeless gathered as nearly 20% of the capital was filling with multiple story tall taverns thanks to Dotcanu's new construction methods using steel reinforced pillars.

But even if all the taverns were filled Adventurers could only rent a room for a few days unless a quest extended past a week to complete.

So Hector finally realized as he saw Myaki looking at Hollow's Edge in the distance why he wanted to own Hollow's Edge despite it holding very very little value.

'He's been living in Hollows Egde this whole time. That might explain some of the scarring on his body.' Hector thought.

It was a possibility that Myaki has had to fight monsters just as strong as the Wyrm every day which would explain his strength even before using Aura.

The other possibility was that all the scars were from the Druga Clan.

But there was too little they knew about Myaki to come to a conclusion as they only knew Myaki was from the Druga Clan and that someone had spread horrible rumors about Myaki that turned him into what he is today.

They couldn't even find who started the vile rumors or why.

There was just too little of information to investigate the root of Myaki's pain and suffering.

And they wouldn't dare to try and ask Myaki himself in fear it would burn the already unstable bridge between them and Myaki forever.

"If... the vote is unanimous then the rights to own Hollow's Edge will be yours. For now just rest after the maids repair the room. I'll have the queen gather some books to help you stabilize your aura." Hector said before leaving for the throne room where Aria watched Hector flop down onto the throne and let out a heavy sigh.

"Father? What is the matter? Is it Myaki? Is he-"

"He is fine my Daughter. Your brothers will arrive in the capital tomorrow, you should prepare for their arrival." Hector said while interrupting Aria in order to stop her from asking hundreds of questions about Myaki.

After Aria had left Edward walked up and and poured two goblet's of wine and handed one of them to Hector to drank it all in one gulp.

Edward and Hector had fought dozens of battles side by side so the two knew each other's expressions well enough to know what the other was thinking.

Edward knew Hector's troubles with Myaki were only beginning and Hector knew that too
