He accepts it like always, eats his rare sandwich on the bench, and prepares to drag himself back to work. Then a thick black mirror door-shaped portal materializes in front of him. It melts in seconds. Black liquid surges and swallows him whole, bench included. What is waiting for Jin on the other side? Who is Jin? And etc...

Chapter 1 - Unworthy

{Identity: Only Jin}

{Gender: Male} {Age: 17}

{Star: Z}

{Rank: Pluto}

{Descendant of: Unworthy}

"Unworthy..."

These words echo in Jin's mind. He just stares at the piece of mirror in his palm; it's in a square shape, with golden text glowing on its surface.

Jin was sitting on a sidewalk bench in a park, his clothes were simple, or should I say ordinary. A plain black t-shirt, its sleeves are torn by the rough use, Jin's index finger stuck in one of the holes on the sleeve corner, his pants are just fine compared to his t-shirt, they're looking brand new, he bought them last week on a sale, a pair of blue track pants.

And these overused slippers, their sole shape has changed, thin like paper. His black and white mixed hairs are long enough to cover his ears, dark circles under his eyes because of the lack of sleep and exhaustion from overwork, anyone can simply say he's a homeless child, and they won't be wrong to assume that, his looks are screaming poverty.

"Now even God starts mocking me? Hah!..."

His voice was barely audible even to his own ears. His fingers tightened around the square-shaped mirror in his right palm, clutching it tightly as these weak fingers could. The square-shaped mirror started digging in his palm before it disappeared into thin air like a dust wave, with the wind leaving crimson prints on his palm.

Jin lifted his head up towards the lightless sky as if trying to find God to ask a few questions, but all he saw were stars shining; the moon was nowhere to be seen since it was a day. The sun has hidden behind a circular object no one knows where it's come or why it's come, but when it appears, first swallowing the sun, the world had completely turned upside down.

It didn't affect the nature, the temperature was the same as before, the sea didn't swallow the earth, nor did the cold take over. That effect was weird, nothing makes sense, not logic, nor science.

Jin's silver eyes moved for a while before he finally looked down, grabbing a wrapper as he peeled off the first layer of paper, revealing a meat between bread, along with some vegetables, as the sauce clung between them. Jin's silver eyes lit up as if he were looking at the treasure without wasting a second, he bit the sandwich.

That first bite melt in his mouth as he taste the meat after a long time, meat meals are expensive not for everyone but for someone like Jin who lives alone work fourteen hours a day at multiple places his paycheck vanish in rent of one tiny room and his meal's, for a teenager it's a pity but people of Layer capital does not have it to begin with.

It's an expensive place if Jin manages to leave this city, he'll somehow live better, but as a citizen born in Layer capital, no one is allowed to leave unless you're some big shot.

Jin finished the whole sandwich in a few minutes at most. It's not like he's in a hurry; his lunch break still has fifteen minutes left, but what Jin was worried about was his fate.

Things never go in the way he thinks, not even a bit, so he thinks of a bad outcome, so he can prepare his heart, but his fate just gives him the worst outcome that even his negative expectations start to look better. Like it's the way of saying to him, 'Oh, don't worry, it can get worse.'

So Jin eats the sandwich before it could fall, or it starts raining, or it flies in a storm. Now he was resting on the bench thinking about how his fate just given him another worst outcome. A while ago, when he saw the mirror appear in his palm, he thought he was finally going to live a good life. He didn't expect himself to be awakened as a top-class slayer; he just thought about the lowest one, it still got paid well.

He brought a meat sandwich for lunch instead of bread and sauce, which he usually has for lunch. He didn't look in the mirror, waiting for lunch break, and when it finally came, his expectations broke again.

A Pluto rank, which is good even though it's the lowest, they still get paid better than what he's making with multiple part-time jobs. Z Star: The person who received this 'Star' does not grow stronger or weaker than his given rank, and the rank Jin received is the lowest, yet he still accepts it. Hoping to be a descendant of any celestial being, and once again his fate threw that same card again, 'Unworthy'. Being a descendant of any celestial meant you are useful enough to become a slayer, your star and rank do not matter if you're chosen as a descendant of any celestial. But if you're not then you're not worthy enough to become a slayer.

"Guess I'll just get back to work again."

Jin muttered as he stretched his hands behind his back, followed by a yawn. He covered his mouth with the back of his right hand. Just as he opened his eyes, he froze.

In front of him was a thick, black, door-shaped mirror. Like it just grew out of nowhere, Jin didn't move or anything; he was used to seeing them.

"I should report Slayers after heading back to work."

His voice was calm as he got up, stretching his back one last time, standing just a few feet away from the black mirror.

Suddenly, the black mirror was letting out steamy clouds from it like a cold ice cube. Jin didn't believe his eyes at first. Something didn't feel right as he took a closer look. He saw it melting. It was slow at first, but then it sped up.

"You gotta be kidding-"

Before Jin can move to run, that mirror melts completely in a mere second, swallowing Jin along with the bench behind him, leaving only black liquid on the ground.
