Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 — KAELEN’S AWAKENING

It's messed up when you can say, with a straight face, that this is the fourth time your soul has been isekai'd, transmigrated, reincarnated, and reborn. At this point it's less "destiny" and more "cosmic customer loyalty program." Hopefully this run doesn't suck like the last three.

I come back to myself inside this new body. The memories from the previous lives hit at once—lies, betrayals, murder, all the usual greatest hits. A spike of pain slams into my skull and drops me to my knees. When it finally fades, I realize who I am now… or who I'm supposed to become.

I'm holding a seed. Or rune. Or whatever the hell you'd call the thing glowing faintly in my hand. It's supposed to help people awaken abilities like everyone else in this world. Mine looks low-ranked as hell—because of course it does—and it cost me seven years of savings. I've got enough left for maybe four months of microwave meals if things go sideways.

But I've played the hand I got. I'm an orphan with nothing, no family, no backing, nothing except stubbornness and vibes. People who don't awaken naturally at ten either stay normal forever or buy a seed like this. Rich kids? They awaken easy-mode.

I look at the seed one last time, steel myself, and swallow it.

Waiting. Hoping. Threatening reality with violence if it screws me again.

At first, nothing. Then a translucent screen snaps open in the corner of my vision.

The whole thing glows with a mix of obsidian black and platinum light. So yeah—I awakened. Thank every damn deity. But something's wrong.

My Focus stat is blank. Empty. Zero info.

That's the stat that determines your essence, power output, magic—basically everything that makes awakened folk terrifying.

I dig through this body's memories and pick up the basics. Seven years ago, an apocalyptic monster invasion wiped out two-thirds of the world's population. Magic rushed in to fill the vacancy. People began awakening and gaining skills from killing monsters—creatures mostly trapped inside dungeons unless a dungeon break happens.

Skills drop like loot.

Life Cores boost Strength, Vitality, and Focus.

Pretty standard power-grind setup.

So shouldn't I have Focus?

Or am I just the world's strongest dude with no battery pack?

I do feel different though. Stronger. A skill name floats in the back of my mind: Genesis Singularity. Which shouldn't make sense—skills require Focus to activate.

Whatever. I've dealt with worse curveballs across four different lives.

I head to the little clearing in the woods where I usually hide from the world and sit down to meditate. I picture a small black orb—solid, unbreakable, burning with flame, warped with gravity, dripping time and space. Something only a crazy reincarnated bastard like me could imagine.

A surge of power floods me.

When I open my eyes, the orb exists—right in my palm.

A four-inch obsidian sphere with platinum flames flickering through it.

A singularity.

I send it flying toward a tree.

It vanishes—then reappears right in front of the trunk.

The center of the tree implodes.

Just… gone.

I barely have time to swear before the top half of the tree starts falling at me. Instinct takes over. Heat rushes across my skin—Unseen Aegis. Four pulses rip outward—Event Horizon. Four weapons materialize around me—Axiom Glaive: a katana, a spear, a P90, and a chain sickle tipped with a miniature singularity.

The system flashes:

[Unseen Aegis] + [Event Horizon] + [Axiom Glaive] = [Quad Perihelion Array]

A breakdown appears:

"…four-beat ignition… Aegis fuels Horizon… Horizon conducts the pulse… weapons rotate the perimeter in a kill-kite formation…"

Katana slices reentry arcs.

Spear pins.

P90 suppresses.

Chain sickle yo-yos enemies into the blender.

I stand there, surrounded by floating murder-artifacts, staring at the wreck of the tree.

This is broken. Like… actually broken.

Did my luck finally flip after three lifetimes of cosmic bullying?

For the first time in a long time, the pressure on my chest eases.

A new life.

A ridiculous power.

And maybe—just maybe—this world won't screw me over.

Not without a fight.
