Chapter 5 - Ch-5 Encounter

When Naoya opened his eyes, he was stuck in a dark limbo where he couldn't move, and not a single thought passed through his head.

Until the high-pitched voice of a child called out to him.

"Dying twice in the same day is a new record, you know"

Finally, that voice freed Naoya's body and mind as he fell onto a non-existent ground.

"Ahh!!"

Everything was a blur, and he could barely remember anything.

He remembered being in his own apartment, wasting away his life working on his computer like usual.

Until the computer exploded, and he died.

For some reason, he didn't feel shocked about learning of his own death.

As if he already knew this.

After all, it wasn't like he cared much about his life.

More importantly, it felt like he was forgetting something important.

Something he shouldn't forget.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember.

"I didn't expect you to come back to me so soon"

A voice that was neither male nor female, sounding both young and aged at the same time, resounded across the world.

Making Naoya's head feel like it was about to burst.

But it stopped as suddenly as it had started when he caught sight of a featureless figure inches away from his face.

The figure glowed a blinding yellow like the sun while being as dark as the abyss itself.

It was vast and narrow at the same time.

The shape of its form changed infinitely, as if reality itself struggled to contain him.

Entropy.

Everything that had happened began and ended with the entity.

Naoya's thoughts blanked as he felt his entire existence being erased simply by witnessing the being and trying to comprehend it.

His physical form itself began disintegrating.

He didn't even call it a god.

The entity had long since foregone such mortal bearings and concepts.

Finally, he lost his vision, and suddenly everything felt fine.

As he lost all five of his senses, his existence stabilised in front of the entity.

"Be not afraid"

Despite losing his hearing, Naoya could hear the entity.

He had already lost his body and could no longer feel anything, becoming one with the space itself.

Before a pair of sharp brown eyes manifested in the empty sky, staring at the entity once again.

Its form had changed.

It now resembled a lean human body in his twenties with black hair.

The only eerie part was that he possessed no face.

Instead, there was just a blank, skin-coloured canvas.

"This form should be a bit easier for you"

Naoya's body began reconstructing as his thoughts and emotions returned.

Upon being reconstructed and regaining his body, the first thing he did was throw up.

"Ugh, I forgot you humans did that"

The entity commented disapprovingly but didn't interfere.

Finally, after what felt like years of nothing but mental breakdowns and throwing up, Naoya finally recovered.

"W-wwwhat are y-you?"

He asked despite still struggling to form words.

"Are you sure you want to know that?"

Gulp~

Naoya thought back to everything that had just happened and quickly realised that it wasn't a good idea to try and learn more about the figure.

So he changed his question.

"What's happening to me?"

It was a broad but fairly difficult yet simple question to answer, depending on the entity's intentions.

He could probably assume that it at least didn't harbour any ill will towards him yet, or at least not any that it could act on for whatever reason.

After all, not only had it already erased him and brought him back into existence, but even if it wanted to harm him, there was nothing he could do.

So it was better to just try and understand his own situation instead.

His memories of his short period as Naoya came back to him and how he probably died because of that stupid system.

'This is the last time I'm touching a golden finger if I don't get to go back'

"Good answer, nephew"

The figure clapped as if impressed by his ability to adapt and gather information.

"Still, since you're the first person I've had over here in this place, I shall grant you some welcome bonus and answer both questions for you"

"To answer your first question, I'm the representative and collective body of all creation and destruction. I don't have a fixed body. Everything began and will end with me. Most of you humans call me God, but I don't like that term very much, so just call me OC"

"Also, what you had just witnessed earlier was my true form for 0.00000000000000000000 and probably a couple billion more zeroes of a second. Be more careful next time and try not to peek at a higher-dimensional being's true form"

OC talked as if he were just talking about another Tuesday while casually dropping reality-changing bombshells on Naoya.

Meanwhile, Naoya felt like his heart was about to pop out.

He felt unjustly hurt by the latter half of OC's words since he hadn't willingly tried to peek at him. He had been forced to look.

But his focus was hogged by the other revelations from him, if it could even be called a him since he was currently in an eerie male-like body.

Apparently, not only was God real and standing in front of him, but he was the first person to meet him, or at least enter this weird space with him.

'Just where had life or death taken him?'

Naoya had a stupefied expression on his face, unsure of what to say or think.

He was only human, after all.

Thoughts of meeting God and actually meeting him, then being erased for peeking at him, were two entirely different things.

For some reason, despite OC not having a face, it felt like he was having fun looking at his reaction.

'What a twisted god'

Naoya couldn't help but think.

Before, finally, OC had enough of his fun and actually decided to change the topic.

"Well, that should be enough about me. Now, how about moving on to more important topics about you and your second question?"
