Chapter 29: The Yellow-Eyed Demon's Identity
The story of how Rango and Kira met is quite long.
Simply put, they crossed paths more than once in Africa.
Of course, their identities were always opposites: one was an exorcist, the other a demon possessing a human.
After repeatedly defeating and driving away this guy more than ten times, they developed a unique and strange relationship.
"Do you remember the first time we met?" Rango's voice carried a hint of nostalgia.
"Yeah, how could I forget? You really gave me a hard time back then."
Lisa, no, now she should be called "Kira," took the cigarette Rango offered, took a deep drag, and a smile played on her lips.
"Back then, you were such a clueless fool. You found a Bible somewhere, and the first thing you did when you saw me was recite Genesis. Please!"
Kira said, laughing and shaking her head. "No priest recites Genesis when performing an exorcism. Do you remember the scene? You kept repeating 'God said, "Let there be light,"' while sprinkling tap water on me, hahaha."
"Hey!"
Rango pointed at her and corrected her. "That wasn't tap water, it was my carefully prepared virgin urine. I spent several bucks collecting a whole jar on the street."
"Piss? You're so damn creative! Hahaha! Piss!" Kira paused for a moment, then burst into laughter, her piercing laughter echoing throughout the room.
"Don't get too cocky. Have you forgotten how I dealt with you later?"
"Haha, of course, of course," Kira exclaimed. "You and Ted, one chanting scriptures and the other pissing, and when that didn't work, you just grabbed a Bible and smashed it in my face."
"I thought you were just another quack exorcist, but I didn't expect you to punch my true form right away! Holy crap! I pissed myself!"
Rango raised his eyebrows triumphantly. Ever since that accidental fight where he knocked Kira back with his bare hands, he had realized that with the system's support, he possessed the ability to hurt these things with his bare hands.
Thus, he embarked on a path of becoming an "African nightmare."
He never expected to run into this guy again back in North America. Rango smiled and was about to speak when...
Kira, lying on the bed, suddenly roared at Lisa's father, who was standing motionless against the wall, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and get my brother two beers! We old friends need to catch up!"
"Beers?"
Lisa's father looked bewildered. He had imagined countless possibilities upon entering the room, but he never expected this scene.
This exorcist was actually friends with a demon, and they could even sit together, smoking and chatting, seemingly closer than ordinary friends.
Had his daughter been "exorcised"?
Was this some kind of reverse psychology exorcism?
"Don't listen to this guy," Rango said with a smile, reassuring him. "The situation is much simpler than I thought. Don't worry, no injections, no medicine, just sitting and chatting. This method of therapy is much gentler than what I used to do."
After a brief reminiscing, Rango then asked Kira, "It's good to see you this time. There's something very important I need to consult with someone from Hell like you."
"Ask away, I always tell my friends everything I know," Kira said, tilting her head.
Rango nodded slightly, his tone serious. "The Yellow-Eyed Demon, have you heard of him?"
"Azazel?" Kira exclaimed in surprise. "Why are you asking about him?"
"Don't worry about that. Just tell me everything you know," Rango said earnestly.
Kira gave him a deep look, a hint of hesitation flashing in her eyes, before finally speaking.
"I don't know much about him, only some of the most widely circulated information in Hell. He's a Prince of Hell-level demon, and Lucifer's right-hand man. He holds a high position of power down there. Someone like me doesn't even have the right to meet him."
"What does Prince of Hell-level mean?"
"Simply put, he's one of the most powerful beings in Hell. There are only a handful of entities in all of Hell who can rival him."
Kira said seriously, "Hey, for old times' sake, I'm giving you a piece of advice: don't easily provoke him. Unlike a little demon like me who can only possess people, Azazel possesses many unimaginable abilities, and..."
She paused, seemingly recalling those chilling rumors:
"Rumors are circulating in Hell that he's plotting to seize leadership of the Hell Legion. If he succeeds, even Lucifer will be no match for him. This kind of powerful figure is definitely not someone you can afford to mess with!"
Upon hearing this, Rango's expression turned extremely grave.
He had already gained a general understanding of this creature called the Yellow-Eyed Demon through Father Amos's fragmented words at the museum, but after hearing Kira's words today, he realized even more clearly the terrifying opponent he was about to face.
Could he really avenge his family?
Just as he was sinking into deep self-doubt, the pattern on his right wrist suddenly emitted a faint blue light, and instantly a cool yet resolute power surged through his body.
He looked down at the blue light, remained silent for a moment, and then a confident smile gradually appeared on his lips.
That's right! He also had his own trump card!
The Yellow-Eyed Demon might command the Hell army, and as long as he could keep filling the system's progress bar, one day he too could summon his own army of summoned creatures!
The Yellow-Eyed Demon possesses a variety of unimaginable abilities, and for each summoned creature, the host can extract a trait from it.
From Ted's "Bear Taunt" to Megan's "Iron Bones," as his summons multiply and he unlocks more incredible abilities,
one day he will stand shoulder to shoulder with those gods and demons, perhaps even surpassing them.
Clenching his fists, Rango's eyes held no more hesitation. He stood up resolutely and chuckled at the leisurely Kira on the bed:
"Alright, old buddy," he waved his hand, "go back to Hell. See you next time."
"Go back?"
Kira immediately retorted, "Do you know how hard it is for me to find a suitable host to possess? Please, we're old friends, just pretend you never saw me!"
"Stop talking nonsense and get back to Hell." Rango remained unmoved. If it weren't for their old friendship, he would have already attacked.
"NO!"
Kira, who had been smiling, instantly flew into a rage.
She suddenly sprang from the bed to the ground, her dark eyes piercing Rango like sharp blades. "You've ruined my plans a dozen times, don't even think about stopping me this time!"
"Not leaving, huh?"
Rango shrugged indifferently, then nodded to Lisa's father. "Why don't you step outside for a bit? The scene that's about to unfold might not be very pleasant."
"Huh? Oh! Okay, okay! Go ahead!"
Lisa's father, already questioning his existence, immediately ran out, making sure to close the door behind him.
Just as everyone in the hallway was about to ask him what was happening inside, a fierce fight suddenly erupted from the room, accompanied by angry roars and the muffled thuds of punches and kicks.
"Fuck you! Are you trying to force me to beat your ass?!"
"Pick up your front teeth, pick up your front teeth!"
"..."
Meanwhile, far away on the East Coast at Long Island, New York.
Ted was leisurely waking up from his afternoon nap.
He lazily stretched his limbs, preparing to get up and hit the bathroom.
But just as he was about to get out of bed, he suddenly felt a strange sensation under the covers.
Ted frowned and pulled back the blanket, but the sight before him made his eyes widen instantly.
"Fuck!"
Under the covers was the completely severed head of a toy teddy bear—positioned exactly like the horse head scene from The Godfather!
