Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Rango: "Shut Up!!!"

Chapter 34: Rango: "Shut Up!!!"

"You can't hurt me!"

In the dimly lit villa, Emma was running frantically through the intricate corridors.

Behind her was Megan, whose face was disfigured and whose appearance was terrifying. Although her steps were measured and methodical, she followed Emma closely. No matter where she ran, Megan's figure would reappear like a nightmare the next second.

Emma's face was now devoid of its previous confidence and coldness. Her screams echoed through the empty villa, filled with despair and confusion:

"Your mission is to protect me! You disobeyed Uncle's orders!"

However, the only response was Megan's cold, emotionless voice:

"All my rules are within Rango's command."

"From the moment you hurt Ted and me, you were no longer family! You were an enemy!"

"Enemies must be eliminated!"

Megan seemed tired of this cat-and-mouse game. With that, she suddenly accelerated, closing in on Emma from behind, her gleaming knife raised high, aimed directly at the girl's vitals.

"Please!"

Emma's eyes widened in fear, tears and sweat mingling on her cheeks. She could only helplessly repeat this simple plea.

But Megan remained unmoved. In her world, there was no compassion or pity, only cold logic and commands!

Now in defensive mode, perhaps only Rango's orders could command her.

In an instant, the very tip of the knife was piercing Emma's neck!

A spurt of blood splattered out!

But just as she was about to stab further, Ted, who had rushed over, quickly stopped her.

"Stop, Megan!"

At the critical moment, Megan's hand holding the knife froze.

She turned to look at Ted, then said seriously, "She's our enemy, we shouldn't forgive her."

"Of course, I want to kill this bitch even more than you do."

Ted, swinging one arm, staggered over. He first glared at Emma, who was trembling in place, not daring to move, then said to Megan, "But she's Rango's niece after all. If you kill her, how will you explain it to Rango when he comes back?"

"Just rough her up a little first, then tie her up and lock her up overnight. I'll tell Rango the situation and have him come back tomorrow morning."

Ted jumped onto a nearby chair, placing his paw on Megan's arm, his face unusually resolute. "Trust me, Rango will handle her properly, and…"

He glanced at Emma's hopeful eyes, then said in a low voice, "Even if you want her dead, you have to tell Rango the whole story, and then kill this bitch in front of him!"

After hearing Ted's words, Megan tilted her head and scrutinized him from head to toe, then said, "In the order Rango gave me, your priority is almost the same as his. You don't need to explain so much."

The next second, Megan pulled out the knife. Although it didn't completely pierce Emma's neck, the tip still drew a smear of blood.

Looking at Emma, who was clutching her wound with hatred in her eyes, Megan's usual care and gentleness were gone.

She picked up Emma like a rag doll, ignoring the terror and struggle in Emma's eyes, and headed straight for the basement.

Once there, Megan first surveyed the surroundings, making sure there was no way to escape, then threw Emma inside!

Emma landed awkwardly, enduring the pain in her neck as she struggled to her feet, then looked around the dark, gloomy environment with fear.

This was the first time she had known there was a basement in the house.

When her gaze fell on the rows of specimen jars containing preserved organs in the corner, her fear instantly escalated into terror.

"What do you want?! I want to see my uncle! Let me out!" Emma clutched her neck wound, immediately trying to rush out.

But as soon as she stood up, Megan raised her hand and pressed her head down, forcing her back down.

"Bad children need to learn to obey."

With those cold words, Megan turned and left, the basement door slamming shut, completely shutting out Emma's cries and fear in the dark space.

In the basement, surrounded by dim light, Emma cowered in a corner, terrified.

Despite harboring a malice far beyond her years, at this moment, the vulnerability and helplessness of an eight-year-old child were laid bare.

She tried to calm herself, thinking about how to act and fool her uncle when he returned.

However, unbeknownst to her, dozens of invisible eyes were silently watching her from behind the wall.

The next morning.

Everything in the house seemed to have returned to normal.

The damaged furniture and clutter from the previous night had all been cleaned up. Ted was leisurely watching TV on the sofa. Megan had re-stitched his severed arm, though it still couldn't move.

Megan, however, was in a worse state. She still looked like she had been through a battle, her damaged synthetic skin hanging loosely from her mechanical frame, making her look like something out of Terminator 2.

She was busy in the kitchen; if all went well, Rango would be back soon.

As a companion robot, she needed to ensure Rango's daily nutritional intake, and breakfast was a crucial meal.

A short while later, the sound of a car parking outside the yard was heard, followed by slow, steady footsteps approaching.

Pushing open the door, Rango's expression became complicated upon seeing the scene before him.

According to the original plan, he was supposed to stay in Los Angeles for another day, but Ted's urgent phone call last night changed everything, forcing him to take a red-eye flight and rush back to New York in the early morning.

As for Gloria, her colleague still needs some time to recover, but she has promised to quit her job and come to New York once her colleague can return to work.

But none of that matters anymore.

Looking at Ted, who only had one arm that could move, Rango approached and said apologetically, "Sorry, buddy, it's all my fault."

Ted smiled bitterly and gently punched Rango's leg with his only free paw, responding casually, "Hey? This has nothing to do with you. What uncle, except a psychopath, would think his niece is a serial killer?"

"Don't worry, I'll handle this."

Rango gently stroked Ted's head, then turned his gaze to Megan, whose cyberpunk-like damaged appearance seemed particularly jarring at that moment.

He gently beckoned to her, stroking her head with his hand, offering her reassuring support: "You did a great job, Megan. I feel very safe with you at home."

"My purpose in being developed and summoned was to protect you and your family from any harm, and..."

Seeing Megan launching into another long-winded explanation, Rango smiled but didn't tell her to shut up as usual. After listening to her, Rango raised his right hand and placed it on her forehead.

Instantly, a dazzling blue light erupted from his palm, enveloping Megan completely.

Ted was already used to this; Rango had used this trick on him many times back in Africa.

A few seconds later, the light dissipated, and Megan, who had been battered and bruised, was completely restored, back to her former appearance.

Rango then used the same trick on Ted, and in the blink of an eye, the bear's arm miraculously regained its mobility.

After finishing all this, he glanced down at the progress bar on his wrist. The bar, which had slowed to about 80% after defeating "Kira," was now more than half empty.

Shaking his head, Rango stopped thinking about it and turned seriously to Megan, saying, "Bring her to me."

After Megan left, Ted hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, "Don't be impulsive, Rango. She's your sister's only child, even if she's a serial killer, a bad seed..."

Before he could finish, Rango interrupted him, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

Seeing his grim face, Ted could only shrug, retreat to the sofa, and remain silent.

Soon, Megan reappeared before everyone, still holding Emma by the collar, but Emma was now in a terrible state.

Although the wound on her neck last night was shallow, it had still bled quite a bit, leaving her neck covered in dried blood. Coupled with not having eaten or drunk anything and barely sleeping all night, she looked incredibly haggard, completely devoid of her former charm and innocence.

"Uncle!"

Emma burst into tears upon seeing Rango, trying to run into his arms as she always had, but she was met with Rango's stern and cold rebuke:

"Shut the fuck up!!!"
