Chapter 2 - The Hairband

"Husband, I'm going out again today. I have something to attend to, but I'll be back by evening," Su Qingxue said softly to Xu Lin.

"Alright, wife. I'll wait for you at home. Be careful and return safely," Xu Lin replied calmly, a gentle smile on his face.

My wife… she's so cute… so perfect… Xu Lin thought as he watched her leave. Heaven gave me only a mid-grade spiritual root, yet He blessed me with such a perfect wife. I have to make her day special… today, I'll hunt a wild boar and prepare a meal she'll love.

The mountains stretched endlessly around him, ancient and towering, their treetops swaying gently in the morning breeze. Xu Lin rode the wind atop his sword, scanning the forest floor for his prey.

Since entering Foundation Establishment, I've learned to fly on my sword… the sensation is incredible. Back on Earth, I never imagined I could do this. And yet, after dying saving that child, arriving here with this jade… it seems it came with my soul. This life is a gift, and I'm grateful. To fly, to have such a wife… what more could I ask for?

Suddenly, his eyes caught sight of movement among the trees. There… a fat, healthy wild boar. Let's finish this quickly. With a precise strike, Xu Lin killed the boar, its life ending instantly, the forest around him echoing faintly with the impact.

Perfect. She'll love it. Time to go home. Xu Lin turned his sword and soared back toward their small mountain home, the wind rushing past him, rustling the leaves beneath.

...

Meanwhile, Su Qingxue walked through the village, her senses alert. She passed wooden inns and small shops, the air rich with the aroma of roasted meat, freshly baked bread, and faint incense. Her blue eyes scanned for familiar faces.

He should be somewhere nearby… Gu Nan, she thought, her steps purposeful.

Just then, she saw a stout young man with a round face and wearing a yellow robe, his belly protruding slightly.

"Senior Sister Su! Over here!" he called, waving energetically.

"Junior Brother Gu, why did you contact me through Transmission Technique?" Su Qingxue asked calmly.

"Senior Sister, let's go inside the inn first. I'll explain there," Gu Nan said in a low, hurried tone.

The inn had two floors, built from aged wood that smelled faintly of wine and cooked food. The air was warm, mixed with the scents of wood smoke and roasting meat. Tables were filled with patrons chatting quietly as they dined.

"Senior Sister, let's sit in the corner," Gu Nan suggested.

They chose a quiet table, slightly secluded from the crowd.

A lean young man approached them. "What would you like to eat?" he asked politely.

"Tea, and some sweets, please," Gu Nan replied.

"Now, Junior Brother, tell me what's going on," Su Qingxue said, leaning forward attentively.

"Senior Sister, I summoned you to warn you… your junior sister has sent cultivators after you. They are Core Formation level, possibly even half Nascent Soul. She fears you will reclaim the position she took from you," Gu Nan said cautiously.

"I understand, Junior Brother.

Thank you for the warning. I'll be careful. Now… I should return home. My husband will be waiting," Su Qingxue said calmly, a faint smile on her face.

"If I receive any more information, I'll contact you," Gu Nan replied, bowing before leaving.

I'll stay home for now… perhaps later I'll handle this… first, let's go home and tease my husband a little, she thought, amusement sparkling in her eyes.

...

Meanwhile, Xu Lin's mind was occupied as he prepared their evening meal. The food is ready… she should be back soon.

The door opened, and a familiar, tender voice filled the room.

"Husband! I'm home! Guess what happened today, and who I met!" Su Qingxue exclaimed cheerfully.

"Sit first; you must be tired. Relax and tell me everything," Xu Lin said calmly, smiling.

"I met a junior today… and do you know? He's incredibly handsome, lean, with a striking face," Su Qingxue said, her cheeks flushed and her voice playful.

"Did you talk to him properly?" Xu Lin asked, still calm, with a soft smile.

"Are you not even a little jealous, husband?" she teased, pouting slightly.

"Nope, not jealous at all," Xu Lin replied gently.

"Not even a little?" Su Qingxue asked again, her face forming a cute, mock-angry expression.

"No. And even if I started getting jealous , I'd be even jealous of the sunlight that illuminates your beauty… more jealous of the eyes that see your radiance… more jealous of the world itself that dares to witness your charm… even more jealous of the hands that touch you," Xu Lin said cheerfully, stepping closer to her with a gentle smile.

Su Qingxue's cheeks deepened in color, and she laughed softly.

"Okay, okay, I understand. Let's eat."
