Chapter 1 - Husband And Wife

The mountains and rivers stretched endlessly, and in the middle of nowhere, nestled among the peaks, stood a small house. Two figures moved within—one man and one woman.

The woman was breathtaking, her beauty ethereal. Her voice was tender yet mature, her eyes a deep ocean blue, her long black hair tied with a ribbon. She wore a flowing dress of blue and white.

"Husband, I'm going out for some work… I'll return by evening," she said softly.

"Alright, my wife. I'll wait for you. Be careful on the road and come back soon," the man replied.

He was tall, with a calm presence, long black hair tied with a ribbon, and blue eyes. He wore a white robe with red straps crossing over it.

My name is Xu Lin, he thought. I'm a transmigrator. I don't have any cheat abilities, only a jade I brought with me, which I gave to my wife. My spiritual root is only mid-grade, and I'm at the third level of Foundation Establishment. The beautiful woman leaving now is my wife, Su Qingxue. I met her three years ago in the mountains when she was half-injured. I took her home and cared for her. A few days later, she told me she was a holy maiden of the Ethereal Immortal Sect, but her position had been usurped by her junior sister, so she had fled to stay safe. She possesses a top-tier spiritual root, is stunningly beautiful, and yet she accepted me ,a mere mid-grade spiritual root practitioner. She taught me cultivation techniques and life-saving skills, and she accepted me at a time when no one else would. There is no one else in the world for me—only her. I love her. Despite her beauty and abilities, she chose me.

I must prepare good food for my wife so that when she returns, she'll have a proper meal, Xu Lin thought.

...

Su Qingxue wandered through the bustling market, surrounded by wooden buildings and the chatter of people.

I should get a gift for my husband. I haven't given him one in a long time… what would be good? He's always so simple… maybe a ribbon for his hair… yes, that should do, she thought, entering a shop.

"Shopkeeper, can you show me some hair ribbons for men? I want to buy a gift," she said softly.

"Ah, ma'am! Yes, I have hair ribbons for men. Come this way… The man who receives this gift must be very lucky, having such a beauty as you to give it," the shopkeeper said.

"This is for my husband. I'm so happy with him—he's amazing, so kind and gentle. He wouldn't dare curse anyone, let alone harm an innocent person. He's the best man," Su Qingxue said with excitement.

"Yes, yes, ma'am. The man you've married must be handsome and excellent indeed," the shopkeeper said politely, showing her various ribbons.

There were many colors—red, blue, black, brown, deep blue, gray, and more.

"You don't know how cute and handsome he is! I'll take this deep blue one. Pack it for me, please," she said enthusiastically.

...

It's already evening… I wonder when my wife will return. The food will go cold, Xu Lin thought.

"Husband, I'm home! I bought many things… and a gift for you too!" Su Qingxue exclaimed joyfully.

"A gift again? You're wasting money… why would I need it?" Xu Lin said, slightly annoyed.

"Oh, husband, please try it! I bought it for you—just try it, please, please!" Su Qingxue said, her voice cute yet eager.

"Alright, alright, but this is the last time," Xu Lin replied.

"Yes! Yes! I promise this is the last time I'll waste money. Now wear it—I want to see my handsome husband and how good he looks!" she cheered.

Xu Lin wore the deep blue ribbon, and it suited him perfectly.

"Wow, my husband really is so handsome! Hehehe," Su Qingxue giggled.

Xu Lin blushed. "Okay, okay… now come, let's eat."

"Alright, husband," she said happily.
