After they had both looked over the rules on the box, they started playing, much to Cell's diminished enthusiasm after discovering that the game revolved heavily around luck.
Nonetheless, the game started off strong for Axiom. He had not only two +2 cards, but a +4 as well, while Cell had only one +2, with the rest being regular cards.
Axiom smiled as he started with a +2. In response, Cell placed down his own +2, not considering that Axiom might have another. He was visibly shocked when a second +2 was placed down, forcing him to draw six cards at the very beginning of the game.

As the game went on, it became more even, with each player holding four cards.
The time had come for Axiom to win—or so he thought—before Cell placed down a green 7.
Axiom had neither a green card nor a 7. He felt slightly irked at having to draw extra cards, but by now he understood that was simply how the game worked.
One card. Two cards. More and more were pulled in an attempt to find either a green card or a 7.
But even after ten draws, he found neither.
By that point, Axiom's ki had begun to flare as he grew angrier, even briefly contemplating erasing the deck entirely. Finally, he drew a green card.
Calming slightly, he placed it down. He now held sixteen cards—where previously he had four—while Cell had only three.
Axiom breathed steadily, trying to regain his composure.
Then Cell hit him with a +4, switching the color to green.
Axiom's ki flared again, his eyes narrowing at Cell, who was simply smiling.
"You know I don't have a green." Axiom's tone was laced with anger as he drew four more cards, hoping Cell's final two weren't the same number.
Fortunately, Cell only placed down a single 6 before saying, "Uno."
That damned smirk was starting to make Axiom irrationally angry.
But Axiom had just the thing to turn the situation around—four +2 cards.
He began placing them down one by one, not looking up at Cell's reaction so that it would feel all the sweeter.
When he finished, he finally looked up—
Only to see Cell still smirking.
Cell calmly placed down another +2, ending the game as the victor.
Axiom abruptly stood and aimed a ki blast at the cards, intending to destroy them. Before he could fire, Cell grabbed his wrist and redirected the blast upward. The beam barreled into the sky.
"Don't be angry. You lost to the perfect lifeform. It was only natural." Cell smirked as he released Axiom's hand.
Axiom huffed. "Yeah, whatever." He walked over to one of the arena's pillars and sat beside it. "I want to sleep. Don't wake me up."
Cell looked at him, puzzled. "Sleep? In the middle of the day? What are you, a baby?"
Axiom paused before responding. "Yeah. Now be quiet."
He dozed off after saying that, leaving Cell even more puzzled that he had just been playing cards with a baby.
