Chapter 9 - 9

A few hours passed with Goku steadily teaching Axiom how to fight before eventually leaving him on King Kai's planet for the night. This was much to King Kai's protest, though Goku promised he would return.

After Goku left, Axiom turned to King Kai with curiosity.

"How does Goku teleport?" Axiom asked, not expecting an answer.

"No! You stay quiet!" King Kai snapped, clearly unhappy about being forced to babysit what he mentally referred to as a flying baby.

Axiom hummed thoughtfully, slowly floating closer before flopping onto the ground.

"You seem weak."

King Kai froze, a vein bulging on his forehead. "I am not! You're just monstrously strong!"

Axiom closed his eyes and smiled faintly, enjoying King Kai's frustration before drifting off to sleep.

__

Ten hours later, Axiom woke up, yawning and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He paused when he noticed a blanket draped over him.

He stood and looked around for King Kai, a small smile forming.

Floating around the tiny planet, he eventually found King Kai polishing his car.

"Did you put this blanket over me?"

King Kai flinched, having been too absorbed in his work to notice Axiom's energy approaching.

"Wha—! Oh, it's just you. Hoo…" King Kai exhaled in relief before continuing, "Yes, I did. You seemed like you were Friezing." He chuckled at his own joke.

Axiom narrowed his eyes in confusion. "I… don't get cold. You know that, right?"

King Kai chuckled harder at Axiom's lack of understanding. "Well, I'm not explaining it."

Axiom, mildly annoyed at missing the joke, tossed the blanket onto King Kai's car before flying off.

King Kai watched him leave, picked up the blanket, and resumed cleaning his car, smiling slightly at the small revenge for all the irritation Axiom had caused him.

Meanwhile, Axiom hovered a few feet above the ground, charging a ki blast. He noted the visible improvement in its charge speed.

Satisfied, he fired it into the sky.

After a moment, boredom set in. Goku should have returned by now.

He flew back to King Kai.

"Where is Goku?" Axiom asked.

King Kai looked up from his car, stroking his chin curiously. He focused his vision toward Earth, searching for Goku, and found him standing on Kami's Lookout—apparently having forgotten about Axiom entirely.

"Goku! Take Axiom back to Earth!" King Kai shouted telepathically, startling him.

Goku blinked in realization.

"Oh! Right!"

He immediately placed two fingers against his forehead and appeared beside Axiom. Without wasting time, he grabbed Axiom's shoulder and teleported them both to Kami's Lookout, his expression noticeably more serious.

__

Goku reappeared on the Lookout, this time with Axiom at his side, shocking everyone present.

The first to speak was Krillin.

"Goku… who's that Frieza-looking guy?"

Axiom glanced at the noseless human briefly before answering calmly, "My name is Axiom."

Krillin nodded stiffly before quickly pulling Goku aside.

"Hey, Goku… are you sure he's not going to blow me up?"

The memory of Frieza doing exactly that still lingered painfully in his mind.

Goku smiled reassuringly. "He won't, Krillin. He's not like Frieza. Don't worry."

Krillin relaxed slightly, though a bead of sweat still slid down his temple at the oppressive feel of Axiom's ki.

"Alright… I'm trusting you. But you better be right, Goku."

Goku grinned wider. "That's the spirit, Krillin! Now let's introduce him to everyone else."

Krillin nodded, and the two walked back toward Axiom.
