Yuan Si pointed toward a section of the woods. Everyone followed her gaze and saw Xiao An in the forest, waving a yellow strip of cloth in his hand.
The sight made everyone jump to their feet.
Xiao An was on sentry duty during dinner time tonight. They had all agreed beforehand: if he spotted an enemy while on watch, he would wave the red cloth from his pocket so the people at the camp would know what was happening and could prepare. If he found prey, he would wave the yellow cloth.
Since Xiao An was waving the yellow cloth, it meant he had spotted prey.
"Heh heh, talk about perfect timing! Let's hurry up and bring that prey back. The fire's already lit; all we're missing is the meat for the pot." Xiao Wei waved his shovel, excited.
"We don't know what it is. It might just be a rabbit," Xiao Zhi said, throwing cold water on his excitement.
