"Mom, I know I've caused trouble for you and for Little Si and her husband, but I'm truly at my wit's end. Please, just help me," Li Mubo said, his head bowed low as he mumbled.
'He'd had enough these past few days. He didn't know what had gotten into Yaping, but her personality had completely changed. She argued with him every day when he came home—if it wasn't about one thing, it was about another. He wished he could stay at his work unit twenty-four hours a day. The very thought of going home filled him with dread, but his youngest son was waiting for him. If he didn't go back, there was no telling how his wife would treat the child. He could only brace himself and go home, only to be met with his wife's endless nagging, cursing, and scorn.'
'Sometimes he thought that if he'd known life would turn out like this after having another kid, he would've rather just had one son.'
