Back at The Elysian Gardens, Riley Perry flopped ungracefully onto the sofa. "Mom, I feel so sick. I'm just craving your cooking. Dad, I want some chicken soup."
"Coming, coming, I'll make it right away. Before we came today, I made a special trip to your grandma's and raided her for two of her chickens—a rooster and a hen. I'll go prepare the hen in a bit, and your mom can stew it for you tonight. I heard from your mom you wanted stewed assorted fish, right? I'll go to the market later and buy some to make for you."
Riley Perry chuckled. 'When her dad said "raided," he really meant it. The old lady must be absolutely furious.'
Cole Sinclair doubted his wife could keep it down. Her appetite had dropped significantly these past few days, and she threw up at the slightest smell. Could she really eat fish?
"Dad, I'll have someone deliver the ingredients. No need to go out and buy them."
Patrick Perry chuckled. "That works too. I'll go boil some water and slaughter the chicken now."
