The old man's guard saw him approaching and greeted him with a smile. "The young master is here. The old master is playing chess with Ms. Sinclair."
Cole Sinclair nodded to the guard and headed straight for the main living room.
Hearing the voices, the old man peered over the top of his reading glasses. His daughter, Aunt Sinclair, couldn't resist a jibe. "Dad, don't use his arrival as an excuse to take back your moves. Hurry up. You'll have lost in three more steps."
"Impossible!" the old man huffed. "In three more moves, I would've had you in checkmate!" Then, as if afraid his daughter would call his bluff, he decisively swept the pieces into a jumble on the board and immediately stood up. "I think that's our Cole. Quick, have someone make a pot of tea and wash some fruit."
Aunt Sinclair had grown used to this. An old man acting like a child… tantrums and cheating were all part of the package—her foot!
