At the dinner table, Veronica Wyatt and Whitney Valentine were getting along splendidly. They occasionally asked for Cole Sinclair's opinion, and his replies were always a terse "Mm" or "Yes."
After dinner, afraid his mother would make him drive Whitney home, he faked a phone call and left early.
"Whitney, please don't mind him. He's just always so busy. If he wasn't, I wouldn't have to worry about his marriage prospects. Please don't take it to heart."
Whitney Valentine replied tactfully, "Not at all. It's perfectly normal for President Sinclair to be busy, managing such a large corporation. Besides, a man dedicated to his career is the most charming. I happen to prefer men just like him."
Veronica Wyatt thought, 'Isn't this an indirect confession to my Sophie?'
'As long as Sophie doesn't dislike her, there's a chance for them.'
'If things work out between them, perhaps I should tell her my plan first.'
"Whitney, you know about our Aiden, don't you?"
