Faye Vaughn continued to watch from the sidelines.
Her younger self stood on her tiptoes, faced the small window, and called out softly, "Hey! Are you okay?"
The young Vincent Hawthorne's lips were pressed into a thin line, his eyes guarded.
He had been kidnapped and locked away here, subjected to inhuman torture.
The kidnappers had hung him up, laughing maliciously as they cursed him. "So what if you're rich? We love torturing rich folks!"
He was left hanging for a day and a night until he was half-dead. Only then did they take him down, lock him in a warehouse, and deny him food and water.
The young Vincent Hawthorne licked his parched lips, warily eyeing the girl outside the small ventilation window.
The girl spoke again, her voice cautious. "Did they capture you? Are you hungry? I'll toss some food in for you."
She tossed in a bun and a carton of milk.
Ignoring his silence, she added, "Don't be afraid. I'll figure out a way to get you out."
