Mina had long since recuperated her expended energy levels. She had been sitting in silence, behind a large wall waiting for her prey.
Tokoyami.
Of course she'd already set up several traps in wait. She knew to herself that direct conflict wouldn't be the way to go. Traps and trickery was all she could resort to.
So she waited.
And waited.
But then after a period of waiting, she grew confused.
'I was sure of him being here by now. Where was he?' She couldn't help but think to herself.
Thinking that he still was buried beneath the rubble, she grew concerned. But then she reevaluated his power level and shook her head.
She then sighed in relief.
But that was a mistake. One she hadn't accounted for.
"Found you." A reverberating, layered voice whispered out to her. Her eyes widened immediately as panic started to spread throughout her heart.
"W-Wha—"
BOOM!
Dark Shadow suddenly appeared from beneath her, its largely contorting body threatening destruction.
Mina barely had time to react as Tokoyami's Quirk slammed into her, launching her through the wall, sending her crashing and tumbling.
She quickly regained her bearings, stability and rhythm as she threw herself between large pillars, rocketing away with her acidity.
"I won't fall for your tricks this time!" Dark Shadow bellowed as he rushed her aggressively.
"Hah..!"
"Hah..!"
"R-RYU-KUN..!"
She panicked, it seemed like Dark Shadow was getting out of control, Tokoyami's aggression became far greater the longer he pursued.
It seemed as though Dark Shadow's embarrassment and anger of being deceived had affected him as well.
The chase continued far longer than she thought it would with him eventually catching up drastically behind her.
Just as she thought it was over, a bone-chilling thumping was heard.
King's Engine.
"Oye, Tokoyami. The hell you think you're doing?" Ryūjin appeared before the shifting personalities of both beings, stopping them in their tracks immediately whereas Mina had fallen over onto her behind, panting heavily.
"MOVE MORTAL!" Dark Shadow screeched, his large shadowy claw swinging out with a brutality resembling a hungry lion.
"Fuck off."
Ryūjin's face contorted, his hands remained in his pockets. Irritation was evident in his expression and tone. To him Dark Shadow was merely a raven pretending to be a phoenix.
His quaking right leg shifted, rising in a powerful Sparta kick as it landed squarely on the merged form of Dark Shadow and Tokoyami.
What!
Booom!!!
In an instant, they were both sent catapulting through the building, soon exiting it at a speed that suggested it wouldn't be decreasing anytime soon.
Ryūjin sighed as he spun around, extending his hand at the still shaken up Mina.
"You good pinky?" His canines flashed, a provocative smirk lingered.
Mina took his hand, a blush peeling off her already pink cheeks. In that moment, Ryūjin's large and near titan-like figure that had just appeared when she called out his name, feeling like she was in danger, lingered in her mind for a bit.
Normally she was an extreme extrovert, flirt and straightforward person. There wasn't much of anything that could make her heartbeat quicken like the average teenage girl.
But yet, Ryūjin made it happen so effortlessly. Watching that smirk on his face though, irritated her a lot.
She was confused, scared and relieved all at the same time. It eventually would have led to overstimulated emotions and irritation.
She sucked her teeth, "Took you freaking long enough you big ogre!"
Her words incited a chaotic laugh from the giant. They both soon left the building as All Might would then declare the winning team.
He turned back to his gathered students with a gaze that shouted, 'quiz time!' He then struck a pose.
All Might's exaggerated pose remained frozen for a moment, one hand stretched dramatically toward the sky while the other rested on his hip.
"The Villain Team wins!" He declared.
Silence lingered for only a second, the students outside gathered their breaths as they slowly recollected what had transpired.
That silence however only lasted for a second. Immediately the entire field erupted.
"KYAHAHA! WE ACTUALLY DID IT!" Mina cheered, pumping both fists into the air before immediately pointing toward Ryūjin. "Mostly because a certain giant brute likes kicking people through buildings!"
At this point, Mina's previous emotions had been overwhelmed by the joy of winning. She was truly happy.
Meanwhile Ryūjin was laughing hard.
"If I didn't, you'd have been dead! Besides, the birdman was getting annoying." His words were rough but to him it was true.
Mina's expression shifted as she remembered.
"Damn..! He was seriously trying to take my head off, huh?" She remarked, somewhat exasperated.
"Bahaha! Indeed. But don't get too upset with him. He simply lost a little control over his Quirk." Ryūjin confirmed.
His words reached the ears of many as both him and Mina had finally reached the others outside of the building.
The class stared at him. They were taken aback by his words slightly. They never expected him to justify what happened to Tokoyami after such an incident but in all reality, it made sense.
"Now. Can anyone explain what you all learnt from young Ryūjin's battle?" All Might asked.
That question alone garnered the combined voices of the majority of classmates. After a moment of the students answering his questions, the day had finally come to an end.
Slowly, one by one the students all left either alone or in groups. Ryūjin was the first to disappear.
Off to the side, Aizawa who had been silently observing since returning from the infirmary, approached All Might quietly.
"Hanma Ryūjin may become a problem. Whether that problem is ours or the villains to deal with, time may only tell." His voice cut through bustling groups reaching perfectly into All Might's ears.
All Might frowned slightly but agreed nonetheless. "You can say so, but he is not alone. Young Midoriya is also up there with him.
I can speak for Young Midoriya on my behalf when I say he has a really good heart, as for Young Ryūjin? I'm not sure. His drive for heroism isn't as known to me as I would have liked it to be.
But honestly? After seeing how quickly he abandoned his mission of guarding the bomb to answer the desperate cry for help by young Ashidoi... I can at least say he's on the right path." All Might's words were finalized into a somewhat beautiful paragraph of praise and observation.
Aizawa grunted, a tired expression lingering on his face. "I get that. But if a person develops too fast, who knows what they may become. Whatever. It's not my problem as long as he doesn't kill anybody."
And with that, Aizawa turned and left, leaving All Might to his own thoughts.
He stood there for a moment before thinking to himself.
"No obvious Quirk, but biology is insanely elevated and supposedly evolved.
Hanma is a surname that's been in and out of ancient records but for some reason I can't recall where I saw those files' location. Damn Nezu and his mysterious way of talking.
Seems like I've some research to do..!"
And with that, he spun on his heel and took off. He was adamant on learning more about what lay beneath. He knew that Ryūjin's power may have run deeper than Quirks.
Back downstairs, as students were leaving in groups, Iida walked perfectly straight despite the obvious frustration on his face. He was frustrated at the remembrance of his loss.
"My strategy was insufficient." He said shamefully.
Uraraka awkwardly scratched her cheek, she couldn't only offer quiet shoulder rubs of comfort to the gloating engine.
"Ryūjin-san is... kind of impossible to plan around." Yaoyorozu muttered, remembering how everything just looked so pitiful in front of the towering giant.
"I still think it was excessive what he had done to Todoroki-kun..!" Sero chimed in.
"He kicked Tokoyami into another ZIP code as well! The guy has no sense of holding back. Doesn't that bother you guys?!" Jiro inserted.
"Again, you guys should shut up. This isn't a game. This is a place where you come to gain the required experience in order to succeed as heroes. If you think that a villain out there, an actual real villain is going to go as easy as Ryūjin or I had gone on the lot of you, you're in for a serious reality check." Izuku quieted the incessant chattering of classmates with a snicker and a few words.
He walked towards the Infirmary where Ryūjin had already gone down to. The other students were hushed immediately, taking glances between one another before hurriedly following behind Izuku as well.
The realization settled over everyone simultaneously. They tried everything to see it otherwise but in the end, Izuku's words struck them critically.
—————
Within the infirmary, a semi-mummified Bakugo clicked his tongue in irritation.
"Tch."
His crimson eyes were practically glued to the ceiling.
"I'll beat him." He declared quietly.
Next to him, an equally mummified Todoroki rolled his eyes. But he couldn't take his eyes off of the man standing before him.
Ryūjin.
He was no longer dressed in his hero costume, but rather he was now wearing his uniform. He stood tall with his bag slung over his shoulder and a grin plastered to his face.
"Tell me, I got something on this pretty face of mine?" He asked provocatively.
Bakugo turned to him and growled. Todoroki just closed his eyes and released a sigh.
"You know, for a person who supposedly doesn't have a Quirk by the generic standards, you are absolutely terrifying."
His words caused a loud laughter that visibly shook the glass within the infirmary to come out of Ryūjin's mouth.
"You think I hit hard? You should feel one from my mother on a bad day!" He chuckled.
"Damn right." Just at that moment, Izuku appeared from behind him grinning. He slapped his large hand onto the ogre's even larger back as he greeted him.
"I told you though, didn't I? You should have used that other side." Ryūjin said seriously.
Todoroki looked back at him, staring deeply into his eyes before releasing a sigh of resignation.
"I guess you were right. Next time. I'll definitely go all out next time." He said through a clenched jaw. Well tried to.
Ryūjin laughed and was about to leave when Todoroki whispered something beneath his breath.
"Thank you."
Ryūjin turned, and at the same time, the oncoming students who had rushed to check up on these guys froze at the door.
"Mm? What for?" Ryūjin asked, curious.
"For not going easy on me. For showing me the levels to this. I sincerely appreciate that. I promise you, that next time we fight, I'll deliver a battle so good you'll be grinning endlessly."
Todoroki words hung through the air. A silence followed them. Outside the infirmary, Uraraka, Yaoyorozu, Hagakure, Ojiro, Kirishima, Aoyama and the others stared between one another, conflicted.
Ryūjin smiled. "Yeah, I'm looking forward to it!" And with that, turned and took off. Izuku followed behind as Mina and Uraraka hastily chased behind both.
Reaching the train station, Ryūjin took out his phone, checking his unread messages. He received two messages. One from his mom and another from Daisy.
Opening both he was met with a pleasant surprise. They had both sent a selfie posing together at the café Daisy worked at.
Seeing that, a genuine bout of laughter rose from within his throat. He turned to face the others before offering a question.
"You guys feeling ice-cream or milkshakes?"
The three blinked, surprised before answering simultaneously.
"BOTH!"
Soon they four appeared at the café, stepping inside Ryūjin was immediately tackled with a left hook to the liver by an energetic and very enigmatic Viverion.
"Mmfh—" Some spit left his mouth as he doubled over for a second before recovering the next.
"Damn you woman..!" He muttered under his breath as he genuinely forgot the barbarian of a mother he was blessed with.
Behind him Mina and Uraraka circled him frantically, checking to see if he was okay whereas Izuku just walked past him greeting the tall woman with a bear hug.
"Izuku-chan!!! How strong you've gotten! I hope you're keeping my son out of trouble! I'm sorry if he's a handful!"
She said as she hugged him back.
Izuku had a smug look on his face as he stared at Ryūjin. "Ah well he is behaving these days! No need to worry auntie!"
Ryūjin looked like he was about to kill Izuku before finally releasing a sigh. "Indeed mother, I am as well behaved as you had raised me to be!" He said looking towards the suspicious look his mother was giving him.
Mina and Uraraka just looked at the chaotic reaction that had just now played out between the three like it was a casual Monday.
"Oh!!! New friends?!" Viverion had now glanced at the girls and finally noticed their presence. She zoomed over towards them immediately, showering them with thousands of questions about how Ryūjin was behaving in school.
And the girls? They were just too shaken to respond. They couldn't get over the shock of realizing they were speaking to THE Viverion. The Iron Matron herself!
Walking past the three ladies with a tired expression, Ryūjin walked up to the counter and rang the bell three times.
From the back, a short, well curvy figure ran out. Her hair danced beautifully as her lapis-blue eyes lit up whilst seeing who was at the counter.
"Ryu—"
"Huh..?" It was sudden. Time slowed. Ryūjin saw everything almost pause.
Before suddenly—
