Chapter 10 - Page 10

"Hehe… sorry, I forgot to tell you—my good citizen is a five-star one!"

As the officers came within a few meters of the two figures, Peter—dressed in the black Spider suit—crouched low, his expression unreadable, and slowly smiled.

"Damn it—all officers, no authorization required, open fire immediately!"

However, observing from the helicopter, Commissioner George Stacy sensed something wrong and anxiously radioed his team.

At the same time, he shouted to the pilot: "Quick, raise the helicopter's altitude!"

But it was already too late.

BOOM!

A deafening explosion, like a muffled thunderclap, erupted under Peter's feet.

It felt as if an anti-tank mine had been buried beneath him.

The immense force threw several officers just meters away to the ground.

Even the reinforced asphalt, capable of withstanding dozens of tons of trucks, shattered under the impact, leaving a crater several meters deep.

Countless cracks radiated outward like a spiderweb.

A cloud of smoke rose, obscuring the scene.

Tap-tap-tap… bang-bang-bang… ballet skirts…

The chaos struck so suddenly that the surrounding officers were momentarily stunned. Fortunately, thanks to Stacy's earlier warning, they quickly regained composure.

Without hesitation, they fired pistols, rifles, and other weapons into the smoke.

Within seconds, tens of thousands of bullets rained down like a torrential storm. Even an elephant would have been reduced to shredded flesh.

Yet amid the smoke, there wasn't a single scream—as if the bullets struck only air.

BOOM!

Just as doubt and unease filled the officers, a violent explosion rang out in the sky, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

"Oh no… he's up there!"

Some onlookers caught sight of the airborne chaos.

"My god… how is this possible?"

The scene was unbelievable.

Several armed helicopters hovering above were now in total disarray; one was ripped in two, its wreckage falling from the sky.

Even more shockingly, a figure suddenly leapt from the damaged fuselage, charging straight toward the nearest helicopter.

"Is this really humanly possible?"

Witnessing an armed helicopter torn apart midair, nearly everyone was speechless with shock.

"Very likely…"

Meanwhile, every officer was frozen in disbelief.

At that moment, Gwen saw a perfect opportunity to escape.

"But…"

Looking at the destroyed helicopter debris caused by the so-called Venom and hearing the screams of survivors inside, awe filled her mind.

Gwen abandoned her escape plan.

The next moment, spider silk shot from her wrist, latching onto the falling helicopter wreckage, soaring straight into the clouds.

Chapter Twelve: The Cloaked Figure

"How is this possible? Is that really human?"

Not only were people on the ground shocked—everyone in the sky was equally stunned.

Passengers on the other helicopters felt the terror firsthand.

"This guy is a demon!"

Anyone witnessing a human tearing through an armed helicopter, ripping it apart midair, would struggle to remain calm.

If he could do this… he'd come for you next!

"No! He's coming for us! Dive!"

At that moment, a pilot from another attacked helicopter watched in terror as the "demon" who had destroyed a helicopter charged straight at him.

He desperately maneuvered the aircraft downward, trying to evade the incoming madman.

"Phew… too dangerous!"

Fear seemed to awaken extraordinary skill; the helicopter plummeted almost uncontrollably, narrowly missing Peter who was charging at them.

Yet…

Peter, flying above, suddenly shot two webs toward the helicopter below.

Using the webs, he immediately overcame the usual limitation of not being able to turn mid-jump.

The next moment, Peter leveraged the webbing to deliver a devastating kick to the helicopter.

Clang-clang-clang…

Helicopter rotors spun hundreds of times per minute; the impact of high-speed blades on a human was enough to sever limbs instantly.

But when the rotor struck Peter's body, it was as if a metal rod had hit a plastic fan blade.

The blades twisted, some snapping entirely; Peter forcibly halted the rotor mid-air.

At that instant, the entire helicopter lost control, plummeting downward.

Tap-tap-tap…

Just as Peter stood on top of the helicopter, ready to punch it into oblivion…

Another helicopter appeared behind him, its four 12.7mm machine guns opening fire.

The bullets, capable of shredding armored vehicles, only caused sparks and the crisp sound of metal striking metal against Peter's body.

He neither dodged nor flinched.

His iron-like physique granted him godlike resilience.

Bullets hitting him were like mosquito bites.

"Hmph."

Peter sneered, snapping off one remaining intact rotor blade beneath his feet.

Then he grabbed the end and hurled it like a boomerang.

Whoosh…

The immense energy granted the blade terrifying speed and force.

"Commissioner, move!"

Stacy and one officer were inside the helicopter.

The pilot, realizing Peter had snapped the rotor, tried to maneuver the helicopter away, but couldn't fully evade the attack.

The high-speed blade became a razor-sharp weapon.

It struck the helicopter's tail, severing the cockpit and cabin from the rear fuselage.

The helicopter, along with its rotor, was instantly destroyed.

Fortunately, some passengers in smaller cabins were unharmed.

Unfortunately, without rotors and a tail, the helicopter lost lift, slowly plummeting from the sky.

[Congratulations, Host! Mission complete, rewards being issued…]

"Hmm? Does that mean… the mission is finally done?"

Just as Peter prepared to destroy more helicopters, he heard the mission-completion alert.

Almost instantly, a strange new sensation coursed through his body.

"Is this the reward for awakening a random ability after completing a mission?"

These unusual feelings didn't worry Peter; they excited him.

All superhuman abilities were powerful, and any randomly awakened reward would be a win-win.

"Well, now that the mission is complete, it's time to leave."

Peter had achieved his mission objectives. He prepared to retreat to a safe place to awaken his new abilities.

Standing atop the helicopter, he didn't hesitate. With a rocket-like leap, he shot into the sky, disappearing into the distance in an instant.

Meanwhile, the system voice rang in his ears again:

[Reward issued. Congratulations, Host! You have received 100 points. Your randomly awakened special ability is…]

Even after Peter left, the chaos continued.

In less than ten seconds, his previous actions had destroyed three armed helicopters.

Debris from all three helicopters continued to fall.

Survivors among the wreckage waited in extreme terror, facing almost certain death.

"Mom… goodbye. I hope the compensation after I die can make your later years more comfortable."

From hundreds of meters high, survival was nearly impossible; parachutes were useless at that height.

In their final moments, countless thoughts of loved ones flooded their minds.
