"This time, I will personally tear off your mask and show all of New York what face hides beneath that terrifying Spider mask."
…
Meanwhile, the fight between the two Spider-heroes had finally woken every resident on the surrounding streets, turning what should have been a quiet night into a scene of chaos as bright as day.
"What's going on?"
Countless bystanders, unaware of the danger, stepped into the streets to see what was happening.
Those who had escaped the battlefield wished they had more legs so they could flee faster.
At the center of the chaos, police had arrived, quickly evacuating civilians. But with limited resources, they were powerless to intervene in the fight between two superhumans.
Didn't you see the street? Hardly a car remained intact.
They didn't believe their mere mortal bodies could be tougher than steel automobiles.
After all, it's just a few thousand dollars per month; risking your life for it wasn't worth it.
Helping to evacuate civilians up close was already an act of extreme bravery.
At this moment, Peter had become a "car-throwing maniac," hurling countless vehicles at Gwen in midair.
While dodging these unmanned attacks, Gwen had to carefully rescue the people inside each car.
This made it impossible for her to continue relying solely on agility to escape.
Gradually, Peter was closing in from behind.
Until she saved another unlucky victim who had just endured a rollercoaster-like ordeal, her Spider Sense suddenly blared a warning.
"Oh, damn it!"
Usually gentle and graceful, Gwen was furious this time—so angry she almost cursed.
"Why is this damn guy chasing me?"
But her silent curses couldn't solve the problem at hand.
After rescuing countless innocents, her strength was nearly drained.
Even with her Spider Sense warning her, her exhausted body could no longer react fast enough to dodge.
SSSS…
A familiar voice, a sticky sensation behind her.
Gwen realized her predicament completely.
But she had no time to free herself from the webs binding her.
A surge of incredible force coursed through the threads.
The next moment, she was yanked from dozens of meters above.
Her body slammed into an abandoned car, left unlocked by someone who had fled in a hurry.
BOOM!
The crushing force flattened the vehicle completely.
Worse, it seemed to trigger some unintended side effect.
The smashed car exploded like a Hollywood action scene, sending a wave of terrifying heat toward Gwen.
"Exactly… now it feels like a blockbuster. We should be able to complete the task now."
Peter didn't rush after her. Instead, he paused to check his system to see if the mission was complete.
"What? Don't lie to me… this isn't enough?"
Seeing the task still marked incomplete, Peter muttered complaints in his mind.
"If it's not big enough, let's go bigger."
Without overthinking, he glanced toward the explosion and chuckled, coughing lightly.
His gaze followed the center of the blast—and a figure suddenly leapt from it, flipping through the air multiple times.
Then, with an incredibly heroic, cinematic landing, she appeared before Peter.
Ignoring the high heat of the explosion that burned through her tight suit, revealing patches of fair skin, her pose was actually very cool.
Peter's gaze was fixed on Gwen—not distracted by her body or exposed skin.
After all, with his X-ray vision, he had seen everything…
Well, Peter was just curious: "Doesn't landing like that hurt her knees?"
Her knee had a hole in the suit, the leg bent as she knelt on the ground.
Even Peter's knees hurt a little involuntarily.
"Toby Maguire, you've really pissed me off!"
Gwen slowly lifted her head. Though her eyes were hidden, he could feel the cold fury in her gaze.
This was the first time she looked so defeated since becoming Spider-Woman. To her, Peter had become an unforgivable, heinous criminal.
WHOOSH!
Before she could vent her anger, two beams of light suddenly descended from above, illuminating both figures.
Chuu-chu…
Unaware, two helicopters hovered above them!
Waaah… hssss…
In the distance, sirens blared, followed by tires screeching on asphalt.
Several police cars had surrounded the two men.
"Ah… now I understand. If we don't cultivate enough stars, how could we generate this much chaos?"
…
Chapter Eleven: Gwen's Choice
"Sorry, General Ross, this matter is being handled by the NYPD. Your troops need not intervene."
"Alright, that's enough. I've arrived on the scene. I'm hanging up now."
In the helicopter, Commissioner George Stacy didn't hesitate to end the call with the military.
"Captain, isn't that a little… disrespectful…?"
The officer next to him worried for his future, seeing his superior dismiss the army so bluntly.
After all, police and military were separate entities, yet the relationships were complex—and the other party was a general.
"Hmph… why would the military help us catch criminals out of kindness?"
"Their help is only to obtain genetic samples from these extraordinary individuals, then use them in some terrifying genetic experiment to uncover the secrets within."
"Everyone knows the military wants to create another super-soldier comparable to Captain America."
"I strongly suspect these suddenly emerging superhumans are the product of special military experiments."
"But no matter what, since they disrupted my district, arresting them and bringing them to justice is the NYPD's duty."
"Only then can we face the city's citizens with dignity."
Stacy's eyes hardened as he gazed at the two fully surrounded Spider-Men.
…
"This is the NYPD. You are surrounded. Drop your weapons immediately. Cease all criminal activity. Hands on the ground. Failure to comply will result in the use of lethal force."
Dozens of police cars, armed helicopters, and hundreds of fully equipped officers had encircled Gwen and Peter.
A cop raised a megaphone to address them.
"Damn… what now?"
Gwen, surrounded, panicked.
Even though her strength far exceeded normal humans, she could not withstand bullets.
With only a few officers, she could rely on her Spider Sense to dodge.
But now, with nearly a hundred armed officers and helicopters above… escaping was nearly impossible.
"This is all that damn guy's fault!"
Gwen knew she might not escape. She slowly raised her hands, ready to surrender, cursing Peter silently.
"But… if I get caught like this, how will I face my father?"
Her biggest fear wasn't the police—it was facing her father, the police commissioner.
She had heard him express hatred for Spider-Woman (herself) at the dinner table more than once.
"Officers, you've got it wrong. I'm not a criminal… I'm a respectable citizen of Los Santos."
Meanwhile, Peter also slowly raised his hands, bending his knees as if preparing to lie down, speaking in an extremely relaxed tone to the surrounding police.
Los Santos?
"I don't know… maybe some remote town."
The surrounding officers naturally had no idea where that was.
"To prevent unnecessary casualties, raise your hands, lie on the ground, and do not resist. Any resistance will be met with immediate force."
Seeing both seemingly giving up, the police sent officers to arrest them.
