Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: You Are Not Worthy of Being a Journalist!

[Seven Tower]

Inside the command hall, Ashley held her phone and watched the screen showing the "Dodge News Live Room."

Inside it, the man calling himself Dodge Wilson was speaking straight into the camera.

["This is absolutely outrageous, everyone!"]

["I've just obtained information about the injured person. Take a guess who she is."]

["She is Angelina Caton!"]

["The daughter of the late billionaire Truman Caton. If I remember correctly, after that billionaire passed away, Miss Angelina attempted suicide by jumping off a building due to overwhelming grief, and it was Homelander who saved her."]

["And today, she was assassinated inside the Seven Tower."]

["That really gets people thinking!"]

["Could it be that Homelander is involved in the incident surrounding the death of billionaire Truman?"]

["In a dispute involving assets worth tens of billions of dollars?"]

["If that's the case, then I can sort of understand why Homelander forcibly intercepted the ambulance and took away Angelina, who should have been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment."]

["Perhaps this gentleman did not want Miss Angelina to stay alive!"]

["Of course, whether that is true or not still requires a direct response from Homelander, or from the Seven Tower."]

["I am now in the lobby of the Seven Tower. Hello, I'm journalist Dodge Wilson. I would like to interview Homelander, or the person in charge of the Seven Tower."]

["My viewers and I all want to know why Homelander forcibly took Miss Angelina away."]

On the phone screen, Ashley saw that the reporter had already entered the first floor lobby of the Seven Tower and was asking questions at the reception desk.

"This bastard!"

Ashley glanced at the live viewer count. A long number was displayed: 1,027,921.

Over a million people were watching live.

And below that, the scrolling comments were flashing nonstop, so fast it was almost impossible to read what they were saying.

But one thing was certain, this incident had attracted enormous attention.

If it wasn't handled properly, Homelander's public image could completely collapse.

Thinking of this, Ashley couldn't help tugging at her hair in frustration. When she lowered her hand, several strands drifted down to the floor.

At that moment, her phone rang. It was the front desk on the first floor.

A few minutes later, Ashley arrived at the reception area and met the reporter.

She put on a professional smile and accepted Dodge Wilson's interview.

"Ms. Ashley, why did Homelander intercept an ambulance and forcibly transfer the injured person without obtaining her consent?"

"Didn't he know that Miss Angelina's condition was critical at the time, and that moving her so casually could very likely put her life in danger?"

"Do you know where Homelander is right now?"

One question after another came flying at Ashley like artillery shells, leaving her struggling to cope.

Inside, Ashley was screaming her head off.

'How the hell would I know why that lunatic stopped an ambulance!'

'Whether Angelina lives or dies, I bet he doesn't care that much!'

'And where he is? Of course I don't know! I'm just an assistant, a damn assistant, I'm not his babysitter!'

Just as Ashley was about to respond, a dull sound tore through the air outside. Then someone rushed in from outside the building, shouting excitedly, "Homelander is back!"

Dodge Wilson's eyes instantly lit up, and he said excitedly, "Ms. Ashley, could you let me do an exclusive interview with Homelander?"

Ashley smiled politely, "I'm very sorry, sir. Interviews require appointments. As you know, superheroes are very busy, especially Homelander."

The reporter smiled, "Is that so? Then why do I feel like Homelander doesn't seem all that busy? Otherwise, he wouldn't have had time to stop an ambulance on the road."

"Ms. Ashley, I think you should consider this carefully. After all, there are… oh, more than a million viewers right now who want answers."

"They want to know about Miss Angelina's condition."

"Am I right?"

"If you think I'm right, everyone, type the number 1 in the comments."

The next second, the livestream comments exploded.

All "111111," making Ashley's face change dramatically.

"Well then, Ms. Ashley."

Dodge Wilson pressed forward relentlessly, like a vulture that had caught the scent of rotting flesh.

"Could it be that you're trying to cover something up for Homelander?"

"Or is it that Homelander has some unspeakable secret?"

"I really hope I'm not guessing correctly, because now I'm increasingly convinced that this so-called Homelander, this so-called protector, is actually a scam."

"If that's not the case, then please use facts to refute me, ma'am!"

Ashley shook her head and made a gesture, "Security, please escort this gentleman out."

"Oh my God."

"Did everyone hear that?"

"They're actually calling security to clear us out!"

"Don't we have the right to know?"

"Or is it that Homelander really did something shady?"

Dodge Wilson shouted himself hoarse. At this moment, he was exhilarated and excited, like a warrior about to take part in a holy war.

Just as several security guards walked over to "escort" him out, a voice rang out.

"I will not allow you to slander Homelander."

Hearing this voice, Ashley's face lit up with joy.

Dodge Wilson, on the other hand, looked completely stunned.

At Ashley's signal, the security guards stepped aside, and the reporter finally saw a tall, radiant young woman walking toward them.

It was Angelina Caton herself.

Dodge Wilson's mind buzzed loudly.

'Wasn't she critically injured and on the verge of death?'

'How can she be walking?'

'Doesn't this make me look like a fraud?'

'I just told my viewers she was about to die, and now…'

The reporter snapped back to his senses and hurriedly tried to shut off the livestream.

Ashley reacted fast, snatching his phone and turning the camera toward Dodge Wilson.

"Sir, didn't you want to know the truth?"

"Now that Miss Angelina is here, you can ask her yourself."

Dodge looked utterly embarrassed. Meanwhile, Angelina faced the camera calmly and gracefully.

"I was assassinated inside the Seven Tower. My life was in grave danger."

"It was Homelander who saved me. Yes, for the second time!"

"If he hadn't intercepted the ambulance in time and taken me away for treatment, I might already be dead."

"If that had happened, I imagine it would have pleased certain people very much."

She then looked at Dodge Wilson.

"What surprised me was that while Homelander was racing against time to save my life, someone chose to stand up and question him, smear him, and slander him!"

"Mr. Dodge, I know what you're trying to do. You want to use this incident, hype it up, to boost your own fame."

"But put your hand on your conscience and tell me, don't you feel cold inside doing this?"

"You should know that Homelander rescued the hostages at the Walmart department store just this morning."

"And when he heard that I was in danger, he came to save me without hesitation."

"While he was busy protecting us, you were stabbing him in the back, smearing a true hero!"

"I think you are disgracing the profession of journalism."

"You are simply not worthy of being a journalist!"
